You you don't have to go through all of that all you have to do is turn on the DJI Osmo and hit the record button and start recording without doing that set up, and using your phone.
There is a 1/4" hole in the base unit you purchased. Now you can attach that base to a tripod you already own that should be taller than the DJI tripod.
Thanks, all good constructive stuff, I personally was about to purchase one of these units for semipro action use where we cant put our high end gear at risk. Much of it is run and gun action stuff and just don't have the time to faff around with all your very valid points. I reckon its going to be go-pro 5s and their gimbles for us. The new Gopro6 has to many issues at present with it heating up etc. Thanks very much for this posting. Gavin (Scotland)
Please read the manual and use the device for a few weeks before doing reviews. No one camera is good for all jobs/activities. If you use it for what it is designed for, it does an excellent job. Setting down any expensive camera requires patience and care.
If you want the DJI Osmo Plus to work with a normal camera tripod you should buy the DJI Osmo Articulating Locking Arm which is USD $39 and AUD $69. The locking arm connects to my Manfrotto 190X tripod with no problems.
Maybe you could check the DJI Website to learn how to use the tripod base... What you said is false... You can use it without the extender. Just mount it on the lower mount...

Wow, this guy sure complains a lot. I understand his frustration but damn.

I think you're having trouble with yourself, first solve your problem then get a bug from the device.
When You realize that under the base for the Osmo, their is threading for a tripod
Yeah but it’s not the standard size for tripods, it’s made just big enough not to work with standard tripods.
That sucks
Lol! Not a gadget guy!
