You can substitute coconut cream for the more traditional Ros (thick coconut extract). Grate a fresh coconut and grind with a little water. Squeeze the extract through a muslin cloth and pass through a strainer and use this in place of the coconut cream. Use as much as you require to knead the Kulkul dough.
Thank you for the recipe. Watching your video made me nostalgic. My mum always made a cross before starting to fry. It brought back memories. I do the same. Thank again and God Bless
Hi Mam😀 Another year has come around so fast 2022 Christmas. And here I go again with your Kul Kul recipe year after year. Thanks for sharing. God Bless. Have a great Christmas with your family.🙂
Tried out your recipe. And it really turned out soooo good, crunchy on top and just melts in the mouth. Thank you dear for sharing your recipe. I do make masala Kul kul-kuls, the same process. I add pepper and a lil jeera (roughly ground) I do not add egg and coconut milk( it's an optional) instead I use a little water. Kneed and make the kul-kuls. You will never want to stop eating them👍
Thanks very much for this beautiful recipe. The kulkuls were absolutely crispy. (I tossed them in powdered sugar for a bit more sweetness). Thanks again. Really nice of you to share. God bless. Best wishes from New Zealand.
Glad I found your channel. Gonna try these for sure along with milk cream. Love the tips you give. I really liked cz you made the cross. Thank you for sharing. God bless
Thank you Ivy. We have always made the cross first before frying any Christmas sweets. My mother and grandmother always did it and now I do too. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
Thank you for your feedback Mae. I'm really happy you enjoyed it. Do share you pictures on Instagram and tag me @theaspiringhomecook or on our Facebook group. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
We wish u a merry Christmas 🎄 & a happy new year hi dear I remembered how we prepare Christmas sweets .now married & away from each other. Thanks takingme down d memory lane.
Am i only one feels that she speaks like news reader? 😱😍 JFF😄😉 Btw your recipes looks so delicious..😋 I'm making this since three years for every Christmas.. Just visited to see any difference. You've added egg but I've not tried this way.. I'll try your method too for this Christmas 🎄😍 Thank you❤
What is ciconut cream. I have coconut milk powder. If I can use the same what is the proportion and how much water to be used to mix wirh the powder. Your explanation was superb even a beginner will have no problem
Thank you Larry. Coconut cream is like thick 'ros'. You can either substitute with fresh or if you're using the powder, follow the instructions on the packet and use it instead.
Dear Trisha, yours are the best-looking kulkuls I have seen on the net. Your instructions are clear and detailed. I have always had a problem though frying kulkuls. After frying couple of batches, the oil starts foaming and boiling over. You have mentioned below that the addition of egg could be a reason. What has been your experience? Will omission of the egg alter the texture or taste of the kulkul?
Thank you Betsy. You are very kind. Personally, I wouldn't omit the egg from the recipe. The egg makes the dough rich and adds to the flavour and texture of the kulkuls. I recommend using a large kadhai or deep frying vessel. Don't overfill the oil that way there is extra space for the oil to bubble in without boiling over. And lastly, fry the kulkuls in smaller batches. Don't overcrowd the pan. Hope that helps. Merry Christmas!
@@TheAspiringHomeCook Ta-da! My kulkuls were a success - a marathon session of single-handed kulkul making leaving me quite squint-eyed at the end of it :). I didn't see your reply in time. I did omit the eggs. My oil didn't foam this time. Next year, I will add the eggs and see what happens. Thanks so much. Merry Christmas to you too!
