I read Crisis of Conscience in 1992. I even wrote a letter to Ray Franz and he wrote me a very kind and understanding reply.

I was circuit overseer in Mexico; regular pionner for 15 years; Assamble Hall overseer for three years and congregation elder for ten years. I rejected JW organization when I began to see hipocrisy in all levels and when I started to study Hebrew and Greek and also the Bible deeply. I am NOT a JW since ten years ago. Kind regards.

I have a bethelite friend that says there are many PIMOs inside. Due to all the politics and backstabbing there, there are many bitter and disgruntled Bethelites. GOOD!!! The leaks will never stop!!!😀👍

Many people have their reasons such as they don't want to give up their families, so they continue to go through the motions even though they don't believe it anymore. Some maybe working on a plan to leave but have to be careful not to let anybody know that. There's lots of other reasons too but that's what it means physically in mentally out. I'm sure given that this comment was from a year ago that you probably do know that by now but I thought just in case I would try to tell you since no one answered your question.
I doubt there will be another 'crisis of conscience' as such because that requires a conscience. But I'd love to see it!

It’s been a slow leak for a while. They’ve learn to thwart environmental settings (e.g. home book studies) which provided opportunities to questions and discuss. At the same time the rank-and-file learned how to be covert as the Internet became a home staple.
Personally, I would love to see a mass exit of people from the organization.
I would too. Unfortunately, the exoduses (exodusi ?) we see currently are just a dozen or so elderly/very elderly bethelites that have gotten too expensive to care for. They’re too old too brainwashed to become apostates.
That exodus is the destruction of all religions, so that Israel and Judah whom are scattered and enslaved have no religious web to cling to.

I wish Raymond was a governing body member today thinking of leaving and writing his books, the mind boggles at what corruption would be exposed. He was probably one of the few honest, humble, knowledgeable empathetic men involved in the JW org.

I'm not an ex- or current JW, but a foundation dedicated to being a sort-of safety net for defectors? An organization offering help in whichever way defectors might need, so their transition period into the rest of society is easier for them? Maybe possibly arranging for therapy regarding religious abuse if needed?

Making an audiobook of crisis of conscience would be extremely difficult with all the letters and documents that are in the book. I do think there should be an audiobook of Lloyd's The reluctant apostate.
I agree. Audiobooks are how I get a lot of content covered. I am a person who will not take the time to sit an read a book, but would love to listen to it while doing other things.
It would certainly help many more JWs to leave. With how busy the org keeps them, they need access to information in many more formats that gives them the same information in a shorter amount of time or in other areas of lifestyle. An example is if you pioneer or you have kids, maybe a job where you work long hours. Imagine being able to listen to these things on their way to the hall or in field service lol.
I'd pay good money to listen to that for sure!

I don't see any of the Big 8 defecting, but I can imagine one of the helpers or one of their assistants getting caught leaking damaging information. I can't wait to hear Lloyd's take on this.
I doubt it. Mass suicide is very rare, we generally only hear about the cults where it happens. There are probably 10s of 1000s of high control groups out there that we never hear of because they aren't marching towards suicide.
On more important note. Groups that engage in mass suicide have a belief that they will end up somewhere else; heaven, with aliens, etc. JW don't hold that belief. Why kill yourself and leave this world if this is where you are supposed to end up.
Finally because this is a sect, run by committee, as opposed to a cult, which is headed up by one charismatic individual, it would actually be rather difficult to initiate a mass suicide, too many layers of bureaucracy.

No lawyer leaves a job. There were people in the dock at the Nuremberg Trials against the Nazi leadership with legal training, yet they hung on until 1945 instead of fleeing the sinking ship in 1944. Working for the JWs is very lucrative (just like working for Scientology) and these guys will only "leave" when the Society collapses.

I don't think that today's GB are intelligent enough. That's why everything is seriously dumbed down and the publications lack details.
They never ever had solid spiritual food, only milk and pablum... all along. Regurgitating the same old talks, verbatim, year in and year out. I know, i was the one taking notes, when what they do today, was highly forbidden. Such light, as what they shed, is sure to never blind anyone... nor will it ever truly enlighten any soul seeking it.
It’s always fascinating to hear your take on things Lloyd. I sort of slipped away from the organisation back in 1977. My parents remained in it. I remained sort of sympathetic to it, but in 2001 I read Crisis of Conscience, and that was the deal breaker! I was astonished to learn how they’d predicted Armageddon in 1914 and 1925 as well as 1975, and all this rubbish about the faithful ‘men of old’ being resurrected and living in a mansion in California 🤣🤣
I lived through 1975 as a 3rd generation JW. It was one of many reasons I never believed.

I snuck into the zoom memorial last night and I was struck by how sad and unhappy the people looked. So there must be dissatisfaction at many levels. Additionally the congregation looked quite old. This particular group looked to be average age of well over 60. The speaker is an alleged child abuser. What a horrible existence for so many!

A dear friend gifted me a copy of "Crisis of Conscience" after I'd left. It changed my life. Raymond Franz's refusal to give in to bitterness and anger, or give up his faith in a Higher Power. (I was very bitter and angry at the time). His kind, logical approach really helped my healing process.

There are some die hards out here. I don't think seeing these men dragged out of Warwick on the 6 o' clock news by the FBI will shake some of these sheep's faith.
But yes I can see someone close to them like a helper who may not have much dirt on their hands, nothing being held over their heads saying the hell with this and defecting.
I suppose they would see that as a boost to their faith, if they were to see the Gb being persecuted in that way. It would only serve as evidence that the final part of the final day of the last days bla bla bla .....is truly here this time.

Unfortunately no matter the controversy I think that most members will “believe” the organisation is gods organisation.
Just speaking to my mother in law who seems to be be someone that is following blindly and can’t “make the truth her own”, she disagrees with how they manage the child abuse issue.
She used the word disagrees, that so much implication behind it, as far as I’m concerned JWs compartmentalise far to easily, and the majority will fail to wake up.

It's much more valuable for PIMOs to stay in as long their consciences allow them to. The confidential information they provide is and has been priceless in understanding both the organization's thoroughgoing hypocrisy, and the extraordinary lengths it is going through now to survive and to avoid responsibility for the monstrous treatment of its members, especially children.
I bought the book when it first came out in 1983, but somehow stayed with the JW's, even though I was in and out for years. Never disfellowshipped but faded and went back, faded and went back because I always thought I was leaving 'Jehovah' if I left Watchtower. I was brainwashed into believing it was 'Jehovah's organization'.

Another good book is Thirty Years a Watchtower Slave. This was recommended by friends and family members who were concerned that I was joining a CULT. I listened to my Bible teacher who of course said it was apostate literature and should not be believed. I only read this book in 2020 after being in the organisation for 27 years

That was an excellent video Lloyd. Something really thought provoking. I agree entirely with you that there will never be another Raymond Franz defection. He was a good sincere person with a wonderful heart and who loved Jehovah and was in the position of the Governing Body because of that. These ones (Governing Body) we hear and see now - you see they are false. They are there because they like the power and status and that’s more important to them than any truths leaking out. You are doing brave and amazing work for anyone having doubts to visit your website.

Ray Franz's 2nd book "In Search of Christian Freedom" is much more spiritual and had me in tears, bringing me ever more closer to God and Christ. I admire him and believe he was 'full of grace' and died way too soon.

Can't see it happening with any of the top 8. Look what they'd give up. I really think they feed off of this life on a pedestal. They'd also get completely shunned from everyone including their family, friends etc.
You might see something like what happened a few years ago with a top medical executive at an American health insurance company that could no longer rationalize the damage they were doing and went to congress and basically showed how the entire industry was closer to a mafia organization than a health provider. All that mental gymnastics takes a toll. I also am curious if they start doing a Scientology thing and basically imprison everyone in Bethel.

ALL of you are so instrumental in exposing this organization and helping so many to understand what is really going gone behind the scenes of jw.org. So many are now just able to walk away and realize this is not the TRUTH, just a manmade flawed org. Those within the org that are forwarding org. info are true Heroes- they have much at stake if they have family in or have a business or job that depends on staying in even if mentally totally out. As you stated in this video I too could see this org is not the same one I signed up for over 35 years ago- drastic and dangerous changes have occurred. I want to see Tony Morris Jr. defect and write a book with Lloyd. The book would talk about the Watchtower but it would also talk about good Scotch whiskeys. Then Tony would become a regular on Lloyd's videos and they would have clips of their vacations together on the Adriatic coast.
Obviously I'm trying to be funny. I do think though, that there may be a high level defector but it will probably be one of the governing body helpers, or other high level guys, who feels overlooked. Maybe someone similar who is disgusted with what he sees. I just can't see any of these governing body guys ever giving up their scam.

@lloyd - I agree with you 100000000000000000000000000000000000%. It should be noted though that this potential defector, can also at this time, be building resources and networks outside the cult. So that when they leave, they would not have things "hard" as Raymond did.
Watching Stephen Lett on JW Broadcasting is comedy gold.
We are all high profile defectors, at least within the bubbles of our own lives. We lose family and friends, sometimes employment and housing, and suffer the stares and whispers of those we were associated with. Our stories, though not recorded in a book or blasted across social media, are just as heroic, just as heartbreaking, just as hard, and just as important as the A list apostates.
Raymond Franz was unique. There's no one like him. Those 8 men are lovers of money and power which is unlimitted like Rolf Furuli said. But let's hope. Maybe a miracle will happen and some helper or lawyer wake up 😉
There has never been and there never will be another like him.
A cult? Yeah, I think so. I never personally experienced sexual abuse, nor am I aware of anyone who did. My last contact with "The Truth" was all pleasant, as I did not reveal I was raised in it to my knock-knock contact. My study buddy was a beautiful human being originally from Nigeria. We went over the latest book as of 2017, and I got to know him very well. Very interesting person and totally authentic; He believed and meant no harm. The local congregation was legit too. I can thank WBATS for my excellent reading, speaking, and social skills. It was a hard way to grow up, but it makes regular life too easy, that includes a stint in the military.
Maybe someone near the top slighted and/or turned down the next time there's a GB appointment, but yeah, nothing quite like Ray. I also agree w the snowball effect, as there's more family out than in, the "family held hostage" leverage will work against them.

To see Watchtower fall would be wonderful, but, it would cause an awful lot of suffering due to the emotional and psychological damage, for many years to come, especially for those who have been witnesses for many years. But, it needs to happen regardless of the cost. It would be an education, a benchmark for unacceptable religious teachings, an invaluable lesson for the world on how delusional cults can take hold, and waste entire liftimes, whilst ripping apart families, persuing falsehoods, false promises and blatant lies, driven by fear, emotional blackmail, bigotry and hatred of everything not JW, along with anything not sanctioned by the GB as acceptable.
This is a very sound perspective. The current 8 couldn't hold a candle to the Integrity of Raymond Franz. Imagine being part of something that you can no longer walk away from for fear of the consequences of your involvement. As you pointed out Lloyd, the helpers in most cases could remove themselves and I'm sure it weighs on the minds of at least some of them.
They probably make them sign non-disclosure agreements now. But, even if someone decided to go public with incriminating (to the borg) info there are whistleblower laws in many countries. So a high profile defection is entirely possible I'd never say never.
The chances of a GB member waking up and leaving is extremely unlikely as per Lloyd's reasons. I think the chances of a GB helper or other high ranking member in the organization is high though and it's only a matter of time before someone does.
First of all, I appreciate your efforts to shine light on the abusive practices and logically inconsistent aspects of the Jehovah's Witness organization. I do wish you had not thrown out the baby with the bath water by becoming an atheist. Raymond Franz was a believer in God until the very end even though he left the Jehovah's Witnesses. I to have experienced religious abuse although not close to the extent you have. I was never in and out and out cult, although one organization was aberrant in some ways compared to what most Christian churches believe. I would encourage you to read the gospel of John with an open mind as I think you will find that Jesus is not like the one taught to you by the JW"s. That said, I have been a student of cults for a very long time, and I find your channel very informative, thanks!

Does anyone know the composition of the GB helpers? Are they both Heavenly and Earthly Class and are new members of the GB most likely to be sourced from among those Heavenly Class helpers?
I guess that’s why nothing was done about Tony Morris’ bottlegate; I can only imagine if he was disfelloshiped or at least reprimanded; he would not be happy but rather willing to spill the beans!
I now have a mental image of a Governing Body Helper showing up and ringing Lloyd's doorbell one day, "I want out." Then everyone just standing at the door staring at one another, dumbfounded.

ANY organization that has documents that are secret, restricted to certain levels of membership, is rightfully suspect, as are their aims and motives.
Should we expect that the Roman Catholic church at this late date, after ~1700 years of error, apostacy, would give up all of it's false teachings, it's idolatry, repent, turn to Christ and then teach and serve him faithfully? And what about Mormonism, another religion founded on error, will they see the truth as an organization and become a lampstand for Christ?
Is there a biblical precedent for God turning false religions into true ones, or is God gathering his sheep, the 'little flock' (Luke 12:32) and leaving those who have gone through the wide gate to the road to destruction as a judgement to the false religions?
From the time of it's inception under Charles taz Russell, the WTBTS has been in error, it's never been a beacon of truth. Obsessed with prophesy, it's never made one accurate prediction, it's a false prophet. Why would anyone hold out a hope that this would somehow change? It's Christians that God saves, his sheep, not organization, religions. Does God save his elect and pull them out of these religions, yes. Ray Franz was an exceptional person in a prominent position in the org, he saw the truth and he spoke it. How did this impact the WTBTS? Did they repent, set a new course? No, they put him out and continued on their merry way as enemies of Jesus Christ.

I agree with your logic... but it's worth mentioning that - in the internet age - ANY higher-level defection will have a similar effect as RF's as it will become.known a damn sight quicker!
The GB arrangement had began to become toxic when Franz was still in which I feel, after reading his book, is the reason he began to question their intentions and authority. The GB has become its own entity which Franz had began to realise in his time.

No, he wasn't. He was only the personal assistant of one GB member, so he had insights and close contacts in the inner circle of the organisation. But he wasn't responsible for anything himself.

Agreed Lloyd. Wholeheartedly. Robert Ciranko was my CO when he first started his CO career, before any of the current GB were GB members. For him to rise to the rank of President of WBTS PA, is telling. His defection looks impossible. I would love it, but not bloody likely.

My family has a close friend that’s one of the helpers. I know nothing from them of any juicy details or anything like that, but damn. I really hope they’re the leaker. It would be amazing to see them get out.
