Is the 2020 Nissan Versa SR more than just a rental car?

- The Nissan Versa is TOTALLY redesigned for 2020. Under the hood there is a 1.6L inline-4 that is producing 122 HP which is an increase over the outgoing generation. The Versa has grown a little in all directions, especially wheelbase. There is more room inside and it really takes on the Nissan identity very well. Is the 2020 Nissan Versa SR the BEST small car VALUE?

I got into my 2020 Versa this past June and I have loved it since. I had driven the old Versa before as a rental and I always thought it looked like a clown car. I was able to get a good deal on this and I had to jump on it. I'm 22 and finishing up film school so this is a solid point A-B car for me.
Right. I don’t go anywhere anyway… might as well downsize to save.
Joe I gotta say! Out of all the automotive TH-camr's out there you and Doug Demuro are the greatest car reviewer's of all time (GCROAT). Keep up the amazing content Joe!
That is so very awesome of you to say! I am so glad that you are part of the Raiti's Rides family!

This had to be one of the fastest car reviews... I'm laughing at the merging into the highway story... Gotta love the people for not being generous 😂. Great work brother!!!
Thanks for letting me keep it short and sweet! I appreciate your support!
You took the words right out of my mouth Joe. It’s a “Versa...tile” little car. 0-60, you’ll eventually get there. Nice job! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
ThanksLarry for letting me share this one with you!
Got a 2020 electric blue versa SR ...I've been blown away....it's such a great car all around. Get Compliments all day Long. Thanks 👍 for the cool review!
Getting the 2020 Versa exact color ! Can’t wait to give it a try coming from a 2018 Corrolla🙏
The versa did a complete 180 lately! If I skimmed over a parking lot and was told to look for the cheapest car, I wouldn't choose the versa because it looks so premium and it does it without breaking the bank! My score for the versa is a solid 9 out of 10 Little Debbie Oatmeal Pies
I totally agree with you! I like the Little Debbie rating system.
I enjoy your reviews and am amazed at how many reviews you post each week. One suggestion though...when you do your test drives I would like to see your camera guy sit in the back seat to film. It would give us a feeling of being “in the car” with you and allow us to see the dash/gauges, rather than just seeing the top of dash board and road.
I got the s last year, probably going to move into the sr soon, really have grown to love this car
I bought a Versa brand new in 2017 when it first came out. It was a hatchback 6spd manual. It wasn’t fast, but I loved it! MPG’s was okay, but the versatility of that car was increasingly. I could fit 3 Giant Reign full-suspension mountain bikes in it with the back seats laying down, with room to pack all the gear inside! My MK7 GTI can’t even fit 1! Incredible car! It was nimble. It was blue, and it’s name was Blue Balls 🤣.
Unfortunately the new ones have changed for the worse. I don’t like the new ones.
Thanks for sharing that great input from your ownership! You freaking crack me up Jace.
You're right about one thing Joe, the Versa is still the Rent-a-Car king of mpg's 😅
Major MPGs Hunter!
Yeah I rented one, but never bothered checking the MPG, because it wasn't like I was interested in the pos lol.
@@80s_Boombox_Collector LOL
I just bought a 2023 5 speed for work. I really like it so far.
We rented this car 2 times same exact car the gray colored SV trim in December 2019 and in January 2020. It had an amazing bubblegum scent. We had also rented more Nissans and then a 2020 maxima SL in black. We have trusted nissan as rental cars and now we have a Nissan ourself.
I wholeheartedly LOVE nissans!!!!! They hit differently.
I mean, at least it looks ok compared to the old Versa
I totally agree with you! Like a Sentra or Altima.
I prefer the versa note had one in 2014 till 2017
Got me a black SR with the electronics package and lighting package. Upgraded from a 2011 base manual Versa. Never looking back!
How’s it been?
@@2004cyrus its been a dream-super premium feel and refined ride that seems to get better everyday. It’s got 6800 miles on it, had first oil change in December.
@@randykern1842 okay this is a stellar experience for you it sounds like! Thank you for letting me know and I’m super glad that you are happy. I will keep it on my short list and go drive one Thursday! 6800 miles ... she’s not even broke it yet hahaha. What color did you get ?
Keep up the amazing work Joe!!!
Thanks Brendon! You are awesome!
This channel inspired me to start my own channel 🙌🏾
Congrats man! That is so awesome to hear!
Raiti's Rides love the energy bro keep succeeding
In 2022 this kind of a car is pretty appealing. Wish there were more high MPG small cars on the market.
Look on the bright side, the Versa is cheap enough that when the Jatco CVT fails in 8-10 years it will be mechanically totalled, so you can go shopping for a brand new car.
Versa note owner here, can verify will rip(es)
Great reviews and you keep me laughing.
I love when you measure space with snacks lol
Not my dream car, but def the car I'm buying cause it's affordable. But best believe I'm getting top trim and all the options...
Not my dream car but the price is absolutely my dream!!!
Can’t wait for you to review the new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek with the updated engine with extra HP. Been out a week or so.
Same here!
I really like your channel keep doing a great job with car reviews.
I agree!
I don't mind this small machine saden 💯
We were looking at a car for my daughter and it’s hard to beat the price with all of the safety features and space. We got it all black and with tint in the future it is not a bad looking car. We get close to 30mpgs. The only thing I don’t care for is the the delay on normal acceleration from a stopped position. I guess that’s the CVT.
Hi Joe,
This car would be hot, if it was a V6. I love that it's a SR. the price is right, infotainment is hot, rwd, is where it lives. It's a great first car, car for a divorced guy, or college graduate.
Ok all the best
Shaun of NYC
Thanks Shaun for tuning in and letting me share this one with you!
My wife has a 2015 Versa Note, and this 2020 sedan looks like a big update. I am sad to see the demise of the hatchback version of the Versa, but at least the sedan no longer looks like an egg with a trunk and sports a nice-looking interior for a change.
Jaja joe the tongue wrestling I was losing it lmao
Thanks for letting me share some laughs with you!
For an A to B car this has possibilities. I like the space and the mpg.
I agree!
If you on a budget but the base model with 5 speed do the maintenance and will last many many miles simple reliable engine love the mechanical E brake.
I don’t think i can get over pickles just being cucumber’s
My brother got one of the last gen models as a loaner when his car was in for service.
His remarks were, wow this thing has no power and it feels like a rental
The last GEN is totally different for sure!
🤣 I hate the feeling of rentals
A car dealership tried to give me an ugly sun compact car while my Maxima was in the shop. I told them I’m not driving that you better make something else happen! So I drove a smoky smelling basic car infested but hey… it was better then my 1st option
It's not fancy or a race car, but I give a lot of credit for a car that can be bought that cheap, when the industry wants half your monthly pay for 20 years on most cars.
Very true!
I'm always looking forward to what treats Joe thinks can fit into these cars😁👍
Hey what's good Joe?! I'm digging this lil baby Maxima here. It actually looks good, hopefully they're not using their crappy CVT under there, otherwise it'd be like putting fresh paint on an old banger. Great review man!!! Thanks for the upload and your energy!!! 👍🏼🚗💨💨💨💨 #RaitisRides #OnThrottle #ToTheDoorPanel #TwinkiesGoWhere #CrownVic
You are awesome as usual Mario! Thanks for letting me share it all with you!
fun fact, my dad's 2007 tiida, which is a versa for europe also has the same horsepower, but he has the manual tho
Now we are talking!
Thanks for the great review it’s gonna make a great hundredth car for me
I got a 2020 nissan versa sv in monarch orange and i love it. i'm a toyota girl but thats just the car i ended up leaving the lot with lol i think i dropped the gun too fast and didnt bother to see what else other cars i could potentially buy 😂 but its all good, i'm GRATEFUL. GOD IS GOOOOOOOD!!!!! I have videos of my car on my channel as well.
Joe, great review of the 2020 versa
Thanks Rich! You are so very awesome!
Good review & great Nissan.
I have a rental car versa. It feels much more put together than just your average small car. That as a Sentra, Altima, or maxima, I’ll take. (I need a bigger car).
I have a 2011 Versa and it is completely true. You don't have enough power to merge into the express way. Either you hope for the next driver to be nice or you have to manage really well.
How do you turn on the under vehicle lighting or does it come on automatic? Sorry if it’s a stupid question I just got this car a few days ago and I’m still figuring it out😅
Perfect size snack for my truck.
It's a twinkie for your truck.
@@RaitisRides that's about what it would amount to I think. I could never buy something like that. But that's just me. I'm not about just going from point A to point B. I need to have fun doing it,... and that my friend isn't cutting it.
I've always seen a "U" not a "V" on the Nissan.
Interesting!
This is the kind of car I would want to buy, I just love the car. Joe if you come across a Nissan kicks can you review it I really want to see all the features on it.
I think I was able to go out and get lunch and come back before it got to 60 😂😂😂
LMAO! I totally believe it!
😆🤣
Thank you very much for your video information. I just have two questions for you Joe:
1 - does the car come with a spare tire? I understand that some of the newer cars don't come with one.
2- do any of the models come with polaroid tinting, either standard or on request from the manufacturer?
Thank you.
First and no, it should only be driven as a rental
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one!
@tric z why, it's bad
This new generation looks soooo much nicer than the piece of crap last generation. My (at the time) girlfriend had that car (sure it was the lowest trim) but it honestly was barely a hop, skip & a jump away from the Mitsubishi Mirage. It was truly the best example of not giving a shit by Nissan, EVER.
twinkies, pickles, coca cola and quarters....very nice review! I love Versa.
Thanks Roy! I appreciate you letting me share it with you!
Looks like a good first car
The Nissan Versa is actually the sedan variant of the Nissan Micra.
Ew, wow I didn't know they still made this turd. I rented one a couple years ago, and while it handled OK for an economy car, it was cheap in every respect. By the way, this 2020 is the 4th Nissan sedan with the same exact front end, lol.
13:16 onwards was very dramatic for me LOL
LOL! You are awesome!
You and Ms. Lori were seen in this car in public! OH MY!
It's not that big of a deal.
Hey my brother checking in
What's up matt???
I believe the Versa is the only one available in manual transmission because I believe is made in Mexico also is for the Mexican market where mpg is a major issue down there ppl prefer manual transmission
it is still good using 1.6ltr engine. asian versa is using an 1.0Turbo and still 102HP. I can't imagine under power while on highway
i think this interior looks better than the Sentra
I am not to sure about that!
I'm thinking of trading in my 19 sentra sv for this car...Is this car worth doing the trade in???? Any advice out there????
Zonk it Joe! The roof is not blacked out.
LOL! No sunroof.
@14:17 Sentra? Oops. 🤫
LOL! They look so much a like.
It’s ok but I rather get a used accord or Camry
Compare new to new though.
Raiti's Rides fuck you joe
@@aldenino2019 Huh??
@@aldenino2019 why you say that
Watching 13 hrs later because of work and shit.
"Drop the taco. Get in the car!"
I like the way that you think!
@@RaitisRides From the Sentra SR commercial (-;
I just saw it yesterday it’s always on the commercials lol
I hope Nissan makes a come back with reliable , well styled vehicles . Thank you.
I totally agree with you!
I never drove my 2016 Versa on the interstate for the same reasons.
I also wouldn't have wanted to drive it to Miami lol
I feel your pain!
We rented a Versa hatchback in Hawaii in 2012. It was a yawn to drive and the hatch area was a strange bilevel configuration (which worked fine for carrying a wheelchair). It was pretty beat up for a car from a major car rental company but it got us everywhere we needed to go. It proved costly because the hotel we stayed at required valet parking with the requisite tipping each time you wanted your car. If you use a travel agent for booking your travel, make sure you specify lodging that allows self-parking!
The 1.6 L is very reliable is been made since 1990 was the engine for the Sentra back then
great review joe, loved it
Thanks Cristiano for letting me share it with you!
iam very impressive in that versa very compact sedan perfect design👍👍👍
They stopped offering this in Canada, especially when that new elantra is larger and starts at less money Canadian here ($17k Cad) compared to the cost in USD, even though it is made in Alabama and the Canadian dollar is worse off (y)
His favorite location. A Hertz 😜😂
LOL! I see what you did there!
Holy shit, drum brakes. I just replaced them on my 94 Corolla. Pain in the ass vs disc brakes.
Agreed!
Ain't like anyone buying this is interested in performance
@@80s_Boombox_Collector So true!
@@80s_Boombox_Collector I'm talking more about diy servicing. We all know the Sentra is super disposable.
My parents had a 2014 Versa note. I thought is was a comfortable cruiser that got high 30s mpg. But the CVT blew at 80k miles.
Don’t drive em hard and service the CVT fluid often. I think that would make it last longer.
Thanks for sharing that great info from their ownership.
Is Nissan refreshing kicks for 2021 model?
I've lived on the The west coast for about 6years now and they don't know bout them pickles in a bag, and the few places that do carry them, well, you don't wanna buy those ones lol
Yeah I grew up on the West Coast and this was the first time hearing of pickles in a bag 😂
You are hilarious Justin!
You need to get out there in the world! LOL
I grew up going to that undisclosed location 😉
0-60 in 2 miles. and thank you for sparing us the eargasm.
I did not think you could handle it! LOL
Is a gas saver car not a sport race car
Who thought putting the start stop button near the gear selector? That doesn’t make any sense. Also you can see where the cheaper ones get a standard key to start on the side of the steering wheel 😂🤦🏼♂️
That black side mirror looks really out of place.
I can see it now.
I know.......it wouldn't have been too much trouble for them to at least match the paint color of the side mirrors to the rest of the vehicle. 🙄
I love the black side mirrors.
I come here to drop a like.
Is there a fog rear light?
I have a Rental now for the 2021 Nissan Versa. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 nice rental car price!
How are you Joe? Another Nissan review with the cheap CVT again.
I am great! I hope you can make it to the live Q&A!
@@RaitisRides We'll see
joe could you give out the top speed on km/h as well? everytime you say it in imperial i have to google it back to km/h
Our Daily dose of Joe delivering us the business with a dash of Twinkies n footlongs
I hope you are hungry!
You should a review with the 5 speed manual, maybe that will have a better drive
That is a good idea!
Really needs to offer a better engine, at least as an option. No point in the redesign to leave it so underpowered. Nissan has some turbo 3 cyl's overseas that should come to the US for this and the Kicks. I drove one as a rental in the previous gen, and even flooring it getting onto the highway in rush hour was near suicidal!
Its a decent car for a college student, but I'm not to thrilled by its lack of horsepower. Hyundai Veloster is the way to go for subcompacts.
I know how you feel!
GREAT NISSAN.
If I buy a versa I will buy it in the cheapest price to do uber
I wonder what’s the price on one after financing (on average credit). (The cheapest)
Tell me why I just got a Versa as a rental today lmao 🤣
It's fine to me to had all hard plastic on this thing. I've driven one with all of that hard plastic.
"hard plastics" that every car reviewer complains about don't bother me. They last forever! Just put a plastic/vinyl protectant on them once in a while.
It haves sport mode, on the shifter it haves a botton on the back side of the shifter..::
Never touch a Nissan vehicle again. Just got burned bad. First time shame on you second time shame on me🥺. Love your TH-cam. Helped me greatly while shopping for a new ride. Love your junk food addiction 😅😂🤣😅😂🤣
I'm still waiting for 20 Sentra com/ca/uk
Good call!
Pickle in a bag...lol...Joe, you're funny.
This as a rental car, maybe during vacation, would definitely please me. New Nissan Sedan with nice styling is okay I guess.
