    Really a good effort! I wonder if something like a Bandit or Rustler would do better where the motor is sticking out of the back, effectively giving it better airflow/cooling. Also, their bigger tires would probably help as you suggested. Would a bigger pinion help with a brushed setup where brushed motors don't seem to like high RPMs? Maybe that could get you more speed on a 2s battery so that you don't have to go up to a more damaging 3s?

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, yes and yes. Haha. I put the biggest pinion that would physically fit on the thing. I ran a 35 tooth pinion over the stock 27 tooth. Bigger wheels would basically gear it up even more, so you could (in theory) get a rustler to go faster. 2 wheel drive is going to be a lot harder to keep planeted, and you only have 2 wheels putting down the power, but yes. Everything you’re saying is true. There are some 10th scale brushed carpet racers that do 50mph easy. This challenge was for this chassis specifically.

      @@10thScaleGarage maybe you could try using graphite on the commutator (spelling?) as a dry conductive lubricant? Might reduce friction and heat that way. While still conductive, not sure how good the conductivity is though. Just a thought.

    How fast can you go with a brushed motor in an RC car??? Well the official world record sat for years at 108mph. This was using NiCad batteries and a brushed motor. Since then Nimh batteries and then LiPo batteries have come to the hobby. The LiPo batteries give tons' more Amperage (Torque) vs Nimh (about 35 amps max). These guys were spending big bucks to get the most out of their brushed motors.
    Today it is just a matter of how much voltage (horsepower) you can put to your brushed motor before everything smokes. Good luck, luv the vid.
    By the way you need to get rid of the Tamiya (white) plug. We where melting those with brushed motors and NiCads. We switched to direct soldering, not recomended for Lipos.. Deans connectors work the best for your situation

    You did good! But you learned the hard way $$$. Next time use the highest amperage ESC That you can run/afford, with that big 3cell batt. Minimum 80 to 100 amps. You should be closer to 50MPH with enough straightaway. Find a place at least twice the length of what you have been using.

    • @10thScaleGarage
      @10thScaleGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indoor really have that much in it. The ESC was one I had just hanging around, and the motors were about $20 a pop. The front suspension was maybe like $35? I have less than $250 in everything
