I think Orlando would benefit greatly from making the city and neighborhoods more walkable. We have to accept traffic as a by product of population increase and the popularity of the city so we shouldn’t expect the traffic to get better but we could definitely benefit from a light rail of some sort .
Things Orlando can do to improve: 1. More transportation options. We need an all of the above approach like autonomous buses, ebikes/scooters, trolleys, light rail, and above ground metro rail. The more people off the road, the better the traffic, which makes it better for the locals. I still have hope for the air taxis. 2. Fix the local parks. Many are dirty, full of bugs and have little to no amenities like exercise trails. They just need to be cleaned up and maintained regularly. 3. Fix walkability. There needs to be more sidewalks, bike lanes, signalization, and streetlights so that walking and biking are safer. 4. MCO needs direct flights to East Asia (China/Japan/S. Korea/Vietnam). The only way we can compete with the larger cities is if we also have a way to travel to East Asia without needing connecting flights. 5. High rise condos and apartments. We are running out of ground so we need to go vertical. People need a place to stay and having a house is not always an option. Additionally, we should convert parking lots to parking garages and more mixed use buildings. 6. We need more locations that are safe and people can hang out and enjoy a common interest like hobby shops, day clubs, and lounges.
We definitely don’t need more shops or restaurants. Way too many already. We do need an expanded bus service between downtown and the surrounding areas. I would gladly take the bus to work but it would take about 3 hours to go 5 miles with the lack of buses and all the transfers. I do love it here and would never move 😎
Orlando need an above ground metro rail system like asap. That’s the answer to the traffic problems. They also need to build up downtown with more high rises. Ft Lauderdale is smaller than Orlando and their downtown is so much bigger with bigger buildings and construction everywhere, even West Palm beach
I've always said the same thing about the buildings but the issue is the executive airport. That's the reason why orlando can't go above a certain height limit.
They’ve been trying for years and keep running into regulatory issues or counties wanting too much of a % of revenue (to make up for toll losses expected from decreased traffic) Really sucks when citizens needs are not very high on the list (I say this as someone has not been a part of any city planning meetings)
@@ljr3066 I’m on vacation in South Florida and these skylines are amazing. And a good train system. I’m riding the metro rail right now at this present time. Meanwhile Sunrail don’t run on weekends. They have Miami metro rail, Tri-Rail and the people mover downtown here in Miami.
DT needs to be overhauled badly. There's no reason to go down there. There's no shopping & all the great restaurants are North / NE of downtown. You can't even sit in peace near Lake Eola because you'll have people marching around the lake yelling out chants that support their political ideology. Doesn't make for a very pleasant experience. A more family friendly DT with expanded days/hours for Sunrail would be welcomed.
The more they develop Orlando the worst the traffic becomes. Finding the companies that will allow remote/in-home employment and creating better public transportation is imperative if Orlando ever wants to be a city that us not just a tourist city.
The traffic is the worst thing about Orlando hands down. They really need to dive deep and get that figured out. Not sure if it is just me. I don’t let my child walk to school for the stats in America on the amount of missing children and Pedos in America. My children make my world awesome and finding ways that school is a thing that doesn’t makes me worry when they walk or come home. The food around Orlando is great. The amount of things to do around Orlando is great. I only have those two issues with Orlando and what they talked about for the future. Why build more homes to create more traffic? Work on the roads and some jobs need more work from home. That would help with less traffic at certain times
Agree with the traffic comment for sure. They’re building more homes because if they don’t affordability will be even worse. They “can’t” build roads before houses because the road money comes from impact fees and taxes from the new houses. So roads are always added or fixed years after houses are developed. Which sucks.
We need to fix the traffic challenges from here to Tampa as it’s a disaster. Yes Brightline may help when it connects the 2 cities but doubt it will make a big impact on this horrendous traffic situation. Thanks.
Honestly good sir, Downtown Orlando is declining again and the housing market is only for the wealthy and not middle class locals. Statistics say young people are moving out of state. Orlando went from a middle class town with rural areas to a place with bad traffic, high crime and wealthy people. Orlando was rated as the most overrated international destinations for a reason. How many people in the Orlando area are Florida Natives? They’re being priced out for wealthier transplants. It’s not to criticize your videos at all good sir I’m just talking about reality. Orlando isn’t what it used to be and that’s the reality.
This is such a fluff piece. Rather than selling over priced houses to get your sick commission check. You should document the current home insurance crisis and homeless crisis in downtown Orlando.
This is all Fantasy. Crime getting worse. 2 Democrat Mayors just adding tourist Taxes to make more Government projects. No big names at camping world. Nothing sells out. Thank Goodness Universal Epic coming. I-Drive boring compared to Vegas.

I agree. Walkable and bikeable
Totally agree. Making these 15 min cities where you can bike, walk, and have everything you need within 15 minutes would take cars off the roads

@@ljr3066 If they can’t go up then they can add more of the same height as the courthouse.

Really waiting on those trains from the airport to the convention center, parks, and downtown neighborhoods

Awn moving to Orlando Florida to is nice there
There is no sustainability in job market in Orlando. it's mostly hospitality and service jobs.
More transportation options is a value-add to the great area
I live in Orlando FL I hope we get MLB team
Oh hey it’s Quay!
Quay is the man!
I saw you on a billboard
Support local! Buy local! Live local! 🍊
Exactly!

We will be getting flying cars soon, so much of this travel angst will be mitigated.
It's more homeless and continued rising unaffordability coming to a city near you .. same with most american cities
