    I bought the very first Stage Custom kit to hit San Diego in 1995 ish. The dealer told me each store only got one at first. Snagged it! Not near as nice as this new version. Gigged the heck out of it for 22 years. Bullet proof. Sold them to a relative. Cheers!

    Awesome video! I might get a Yamaha Stage Custom drum set and drum hardware package in the future for live performances when I go on tour with my band The Sky’s A Limit. For the toms, I might use Remo Emperor Coated or Evans UV2’s, for the bass drum, maybe a Remo Powerstroke 3 or an Aquarian Response 2. For the matching snare drum, maybe I will use an Evans Heavyweight Dry. This is gonna be great for styles like metal, hard rock, jazz and R&B.

  • @stellamillenium
    @stellamillenium 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello there! This tutorial is tremendously useful! Thank you a bunch! One question though regarding the tom holder. Is that the maximum depth tom holder can slide into the bass drum? It can't slide lower than that? At 11:47 it looks like it hit the lower end and it can't go further down into the bass drum anymore.
    I like my toms to be as low as possible and as near as possible to the snare drum. In this video (and in a lot of other reviews I've seen), it seems like they are too high (for my taste) and I was wondering if they could be positioned a little lower.
    Looking forward to your answer (or if there is anyone else who knows the answer, I'd really appreciate it ).
    And once again, thanks a bunch :)

    • @drumambition149
      @drumambition149  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there. Thank you for your comment, and thank you for watching! The tom post can definitely go lower into the drum - it depends on how low you want your toms. Shallow sized toms are best for the lowest playing position , because much is determined by the depth of the drum. You can see that at 12:44, there is about two inches between the 12 inch tom and the bass drum. If you got rid of that gap you could have a lower playing position. I prefer to play lower too. Thanks a lot!

    Question - right at 6:10 you placed the bass drum rim/hoop in place, but how do you know if the hoop needs to be flipped over ? It seems one edge of the hoop is rounded and one is flat, which side of the hoop goes against the head and which side goes out against the claw hooks? The instructions show a diagram that one way is better than the other way, but I can't tell a difference. Any assistance would be great !

    • @drumambition149
      @drumambition149  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. Yes - great question.The flat side goes against the drum head, and the rounded side is designed for the claw hooks to fit nicely over the edge. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    I would like to caution new bees 🐝. Be careful finger tightening the lug bolts by turning the bolt holding the threads with your fingers. The edges of them are sometimes pretty sharp and can slice your fingers. Like little paper cuts. If your hands and fingers are pretty hardened or calloused you may not experience any difficulties. But just be aware how tight you’re grasping them so you don’t cut yourself. 😇😇😇😍

    • @drumambition149
      @drumambition149  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adam. All of this is always a matter of personal preference but I prefer to place the rim on the drum afterwards. If there are any small adjustments to make afterwards, it's easier that way - for me at least. Thanks for your comments and for watching!

    How much pressure we should give for seating the drumhead?

    • @drumambition149
      @drumambition149  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not too much , but enough to gently push down and feel the drum head slightly bend inwards below your hands. Don't worry if you hear the plastic stretching - that is natural. Check the fit on the bearing edge, and if you have a good even fit, you are good to go!

    How do I add a cowbell to this set using the Yamaha hardware?

    • @drumambition149
      @drumambition149  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You would need to buy a separate cowbell mounting bracket, and suspend from a cymbal stand. Most percussion brands like LP, Meinl, Gibraltar - all sell them. I'd go with the brand that makes your cowbell so that everything is compatible. I'd recommend against attaching it to the hi hat pull rod. They are a little heavy and can affect the pedal action.

    Wrong. The way you set up a kit is this: angle the bass drum to the right a bit, put your toms in front of the snare drum, and put your ride cymbal over the bass drum. This is the way ergonomically set up your kit, and it’s the best way to do it.
