The black ute has the right of way and the DC car is on a give way, as indicated by the dashed painted lines on the road. DC car is in the wrong irrespective of the ute slowing down.
The DC car has to give way when merging as the black ute is in front as per Qld rules anyway
@@rhp0255 - Australian road rules. Not just QLD rules when it comes to merging lanes. DC'ers lane was ending which means they have to give way to any car that is in the lane beside them. However no clue why that black ute slowed slightly, but the DC'er should have realized that instead of being a Richard.

That is correct although it looks to me as if he knows that and it's the idea of someone overtaking then slowing down. One of the biggest things that infuriates me on the road anyway. For example I frequent a road that splits to 2 lanes with the same speed. So many people will be going 80 in the 100 then 120 when it splits into 2 lanes in the same speed zone and you try and overtake. I would say that what I just said was a hyperbole however that does happen.

Firstly, I'm not a truck driver. But I feel like most drivers are way to hard on them. If a truck waited for enough room to cross an intersection without interfering with somebodies day. They would never get where they are going. @14.35 how many seconds did that truck add to you drive 2 or 3? Get over yourself.
That 1 with the merge with the black Commy ute, cam car still obliged to give way! Yes the Y/L driving the ute was stupid for slowing down, however, the DC car driver still HAD to give way to her regardless!

That jack knife at 2:45 is from my cam. Someone decided to do a U-turn at that T junction in front of the truck. The driver of the car had to be cut out. The truck driver broke down because he thought he had killed them.

12:06 Dunno about Australia but here in Germany this would be the DC's fault. If there's no solid line or a sign prohibiting overtaking then the ute has every right to do so, and the DC has to check both directions before entering a road.

Video in question- it’s about intent. Black Ute could’ve had a sneezing fit and slowed down due to it or saw a speed sign and slowed back down or a million other legit reasons. But if they are intentionally slowing down to make it more dangerous for the DC driver than that is illegal. 90% you won’t be able to prove intent, and judge will rule in the Ute favour if the DC car hit them.
There are a million reasons why she slowed down IDK why but the DC driver was totally ridiculous and IMO giving that vid to the police is a waste of the polices time

100% cam car had to yield to black ute, left lane merged right, he was already to the rear of the ute, he needed/should've backed off regardless of the Ute's speed. Merge right, but don't follow to close.

I don’t see anything wrong with 12:07. The guy was overtaking which he was legal to do so. The DC should pay more attention when trying to merge to the main road.
No other driver needs to stay under the speed limit and over only when safe and clear view of all traffic

@8:30. I'd call this as somewhat commonly seen traffic situation these days. 'Oblivious Bastardry'... wherein when a driver has the choice of being considerate vs being a pain in the ass, they will default to 'Oblivious Bastardry'. It's a good indicator that the persons personality is very likely awful and self-absorbed... some would say 'drama magnets'.

12:07 That's an interesting one. If that had been an accident I would expect the DC driver to be in the wrong as the overtaking vehicle had a broken line and was permitted to overtake (speed limits obeyed of course).

DC'er was matching her speed, knew their lane was ending and instead of backing up tried acting the bully.
According to GPS (although there seems to be some lag) DC driver was doing 107km at some point, perhaps the black Ute slowed down to try and get DC to go in front at the merge

My opinion on the clip is this…..he needs to listen to his wife! The Ute was ahead so they have right of way, regardless of them stupidly slowing down.
8:57 Hard to tell without context of the black ute before 8:21 but it looks as though the DC driver is still accelerating whilst being overtaken in an overtaking lane (rule break 1 for DC). DC accelerates to 107 while being overtaken then drops back to 100 (likely a speeding infringement for DC if that's a 100km/h zone Rule breal 2). DC driver was required to slow down to safely merge right but didn't (Common sense fail), but then we have a bit of road rage almost brake check from the ute (rule break maybe and common sense fail).

Cam driver needed to give way with such a short stretch until the lanes merge trying to overtake in front of the black ute was a little reckless. Much easier if frustrating to drop back a little and merge behind.
Those traffic light things are so complicated. Couldn't they make different coloured lights so that you could work out what you were supposed to do.

8:40 You must give way to the vehicle already in the lane you're entering. Yeah they slowed down and it blocked you from smoothly merging, but it's their lane. You should have either backed off and gone behind or sped up and overtaken them. No different to the Bogandore SBTF clip, except you're the Bogandore.
Totally agree with you and it seems like his missus was saying what you said, the driver of the cam car is far too aggressive for his own good and I believe the coppers would agree with us as well. He only wants replies to try and justify his position when everyone is telling him differently

Did anyone watch his speedo he sped up! It took a second to click over but he was at 99, then it looks like she “slows” down but he goes back up to 101. She would have been at a constant 99. Before this they were both at like 105 so I’d say she saw her Speedo and slowed down to 99 then swerved when she saw him at her side like a tosser with clear anger issues.
He sped up slightly (1km/h) but the ute slowed down more.

DC car was in the wrong and is crap at merging. Ute had right of way anyway as the broken line continued to the end. But even if the broken line didn't continue, the DC car still has to give way to the ute before merging as the ute is ahead of the DC car, a zipper merge.

Looking the vehicle speed, the driver in the left lane accelerated up to 107 km/h as the ute was approaching to overtake. Looks like the ute driver had to increase speed to overtake then slowed to 100km/h to stay on the speed limit. Driver on the left is in the wrong on all counts, including exceeding the speed limit.
With regard to the black ute at approx 8:30, the ute driver made an annoying speed change (and appeared to panic when cam driver tried to merge), forcing the cam driver to slow down, but as far as I know that's not actually illegal. Annoying and stupid, yes- but not actually breaking any laws, which is a shame, because it could have been quite dangerous if other factors were introduced (weather, other vehicles, etc). It looked like inexperience and/or a lack of confidence played a part too.
It could be considered obstruction but very unlikely. DC driver needs to suck it up and give way (like they are supposed to - regardless of the speed of the other vehicle))

DC topped out at 107 and she actively passed him. Both were speeding, both should get tickets. She would have to have been doing well over 110 to pass in that time-frame.
Regardless of how she got there, she was in front at the end of the passing lanes, DC has to give way despite what the other driver was doing. DC should be given at least a stern lecture about how to merge properly.
@@AnotherDoug Nope. It's not possible to give way to erratic drivers. If I'm driving ahead of someone I am not allowed to just brake, swerve and accelerate as I wish. There's a concept called driving with due care and there's an infringement called driving with undue care. The black ute was driving with undue care by stabbing the brakes multiple times at the end of a merge. Regardless of whether you think the cammer was in the right you can't say the black ute was driving with due care.

Yes, Australia has the same issues in the UK. Idiots on off road vehicles (no TAX, insurance, registration etc..) riding on the roads and main roads at that. No on seems to care in the UK until they are squashed by a legal road user and then the driver who is legal and trained has to live with that for the rest of their lives and probably get a conviction too.

The girl in the Ute didn't really do anything wrong she probably speed up abit while she was beside him knowing it's going to single lane to give him room to move in behind her.
The dc driver should have slowed down for a second,then got behind her, their both about to sit behind a truck anyway, so should be nothing to complain about from the dc driver, especially nothing to go to the police about.

It is not illegal to reverse "across the road". Road Rule 296 says you must reverse safely and no further than is reasonable - but no mention of crossing the road.

@7:40 - as they're not travelling significantly slower than the posted speed limit as to unreasonably cause a hazard, the only aspects the law is concerned about is what happens at the merge point and the speed of each vehicle (i.e speeding?)
As the merge is not a Zip, the dashcammer was required to either wait for an opening or drop back in order to safely change lanes.
And a considerate driver would ease off and make room if another vehicle eases past them well before a signposted merge so that the manoeuvre can be completed safely for all, regardless of who is supposed to give way - which the dashcammer was likely happy to do, if the other driver had maintained sensible operation of their car.
Dash Cam Car is in the wrong, the black ute has right of way as Dash Cam Car's lane is running out and black ute is in front. I had exactly the same situation happen to me 12 months ago. After the guy in a large 4x4 dual cab hit me in the left rear corner, I pulled up to get his name and address and he took off. I had to chase him for about 3 km before he had to stop at a set of traffic lights, I got out and told him he hit me. He wanted to argue about it, his missus got out of his car and she didn't look happy at all. I gave him my details and I got his and left. It wasn't me who had to pay the excess!

Any time you as a driver have to cross any dotted line you have to give way, the onus is on you to make sure you merge or change lanes safely... I have no idea why so many people simply do not get this? The DC driver was clearly in the wrong, but also his passenger does not quite understand the rules either, has nothing to do with the car on the right being in front, that rule is applied to a different scenario ( no dotted line ) the DC driver could have sped up and merged, so long as it was completed safely and within the confines of the painted lines and posted speed limit . Some people will let a driver in, but some won't.. Doesn't change the way the rules are applied.
7:55 At the start of the clip, the DC driver is doing about 86km when he goes to overtake the car/caravan. This is obviously because this is the speed the caravan is travelling at. However, instead of accelerating passed the caravan, the DC driver SLOWS down to 54km to check out who's driving it. The black ute is probably right behind him at this point, wondering what HE'S doing, going so slow in the overtaking lane. The DC driver then moves back to the left lane and slowly increases his speed to 107km. This forces the ute to go even faster to catch the DC driver and overtake him. Then, the ute had to slow down/brake to fall back to the 100km speed zone. I have people do this to me all the time and it is very frustrating, when all you want to do is the speed limit. You go to overtake them; they speed up. You drop back behind them; they slow down. 🤷The ute driver may well have been on her phone (who knows?), but the DC driver is a dick. It's amazing how many people submit these videos, fully thinking they're in the right when they're not.

Well in saying that you'd be the first and only dashcam channel to feature a clip of someone riding a go-kart on a public road amongst motor vehicles. Well done I say on that one Scotty 😁👏👍😂.
Here in the states, what the black Ute did is considered road rage. Slowing down and then speeding up and fishtailing your vehicle like that to prevent someone from getting in front while they are maintaining a constant speed and then slowing down, even more, is where the road rage comes in. The DC driver here has the right to be upset. Some states will use videos like that to track the driver down and issue a ticket. Other states will not do anything since the officer was not on the scene and did not see it happen. If the ute had brake checked the DC driver, it could cause an accident. People need to learn to v=be considerate of the other drivers on the road.

So this one is a tricky one. as evient on th dc cam speed, the black ute purposely slowed in the overtaking lane. By the letter of the law the DC is at fault, but the ute has some responsibility in this exchange.
The fault didn't lay with the operator of the Mustang. The fault lay with those behind it that didn't maintain a safe stopping distance.
With regard to the request for comment, the ute had the right of way.

At the start of the clip the DC driver seems to have an issue with the person towing the caravan too (maybe driving slow or just too slow for the DC driver's liking) which made me feel they was going to be a bit aggressive from the start.

The DC is at fault. His lane disappears and merges to the right, and is clearly marked by the painted arrow on the pavement. He should give way to the black truck in that lane and pull in behind it.

Yeah thats what I thought too. Looks like the black ute has slowed to let the DC car catch up. Then at the last moment after the DC car brakes, the ute suddenly veers across to the left as if it was trying to clip the DC car. Good luck proving that after the fact.
It would have backfired on the DC'er in that instance. DC'er should have actually slowed and laws would have sided with the black ute, no matter what the contentious behavior looked like. A lawyer would poke holds in your argument right fast because of that reason of the DC'ers land ending in dash merge lines along with the arrows pointing they have to merge into the next lane over, meaning the DC'er needs to give way to any cars there. DC'er failed to slow to go into that lane and kept their speed up.
I always was on the impression that unless overtaking and the speed limit is 80km and above you MUST keep left 👈 therefore the cam driver has no say in the matter the ute for 90% id concider overtaking
Hi Sam to clarify for you no its not "80 AND above " is only "above 80KMH" so any 80 zone the keep left doesn't apply unless there is a keep left sign , :)

I would have undertaken the black car way before you attempted to. It was clear that they were just hogging that lane and stupidly keeping you in their blind spot.
At 8:39, both vehicles pass the "Left Lane Ends" sign. At that point, there is no reason to overtake the ute on the left as there is no room to do so.
I would have done it before the signs. You have to be able to read other drivers and it was clear what was going to happen here. I would undertaken him and saved the whole ordeal we witnessed.
Australia is about the only country I know where you merge from lane 1 to 2 which becomes lane 1. 😜 Elsewhere lane 2 merges into lane 1. Anyway it's pretty obvious who gives way to who. That's my "commnet". I was wondered how long before we'd see a Harvey Towing truck running a red light. They dart around on the M1 like they're a fire truck breaking more rules than a 15-year-old in a stolen car.
