Nicely done! I got my FZ-09 back in September and it is the first "sportbike" I have ever owned. I have owned several cruisers and had a dirtbike as a kid. This bike is soooo much fun. When I sit on it, it feels reminiscent of my old dirtbike days. Again, first sportbike, but even so, the bike handles so good, i feel extremely comfortable taking it around turns and the power is just awesome and addicting! I do NOT miss my cruisers one tiny bit. Also I can sit on this bike and run a whole tank of gas out of it, and my butt doesn't go numb and my legs don't get tired, its very comfortable. I just had the ECU flashed and a slip on exhaust installed, can't wait for it to warm back up! If you are even thinking about one of these, dont wait, just do it!
Thanks for the video, you have further inspired me to get the FZ 09 as we call it here in the states. I literally lol'd at that vertical wheelie at 3:58. Nice job.
I love this bike no regrets, glad you like it too. Remember it being a naked bike the color is easy to change not much to paint (plasti-dip)Good video too.
nice review man, as a supermoto rider you appreciate it straight away. people compare it to the street triple but it is a different animal altogether. and has bags more power. I loved the street triple all the way but the mt09 just makes me laugh :) ride on
This is now my bike, I got the metallic yellow. To live with it is exactly as you discovered. I find no downsides but I do not ride it like in the video. I am presuming this is France (Le Belle France) I could never cross those centre lines at those speeds too much time in Le Correze, Limousin, But yes this bike is a revelation.
i have tested the mt-09 too, a very good bike, handling like my lc4 supermoto (yes, i drive an ktm sm too) but the punch of this thing is way better! i love it!
I test rode this motorcycle like 2 months ago and the dealership only allows you test ride any bike for 15 mins, but they forgot to tell me that so I ended up going on an hour long test ride. The bike is beast and a beauty at the same time, its so nimble, quick and it doesn't kill your back! I am actually trying to secure a loan right now so I can buy the bike in like a week or two. I can't wait until I have one and I think its a head turner too it may not be a S1000R or a 848 Streetfighter, but it sure is good looking especially in black with the blue wheels and gold forks! Selling my R6 last winter to get a down payment for this bike was the best thing I ever did!! Also, didn't you think the suspension was too soft because when I test rode it every time I went over a bump, it would just bounce which can be fixed by tuning the forks and shocks. But it is still a amazing bike! I am really excited, can't wait to have mine!
Hahah nice one. Well like i said, i did this review from a Supermotard rider's point of view so i'm used to soft suspension and actually i found the suspension a bit firm, But i have Hardened the rear by two cranks. Ride safe !
Le Canard Enragé Oz rider about to resume riding after a few years off. THIS video is great. Captures that special feeling you get from riding. Thanks heaps! :)
Very good video. I'm shocked somehow that in France the bikes have to be restricted to 106 hp/PS/CV whatever you call it. I'm glad somehow that i live in germany :D Good Roads (maybe a bit boring) No speed restriction on some parts of the Autobahn, No Power restriction :D
After seeing the specs on this bike i've pulled my leathers out after few years of not riding a bike and i went out and bought myself an mt-09. 1K later i'm getting used to the involuntary wheelies. I just love my new ride. I've got one option on the bike an thats the ABS. It's the first bike on which i can use my back-brake in a safe way. Still haven't reved it over 6000rpm, factory said i shouldn't before 1,6K. I like this bike because it is really easy to flick from right to left. I'm completely back in this game!
Wait for the day you will take over 6000rpm. It get's even better ;) But you can take it over 6000 if you've done 1.000km It's 6000rmp for Under a 1000 and 7000rmp i think until 1600 but even after a 1000 the engine is run in, open it up a bit ;) Running in new engines arent as vital now a days
I just got back from the first checkup today, in the motorcycle garage they said not to make a slug out of it, i won't. it packs a lot of torque if you pass 6000 rpm
Tamay64 hi mate yeah its adds about 4-5bhp and a bit more torque, is a lot lighter so that's also good, and sounds cool, there is a two brothers system that looks cool as well.
Nice test man! I also don´t really like the selection of colours... in the USA, they´ve got much more colours combined with a golden suspension, which I like very much *-* Greetings from Germany
Thanks mate ! Yeah it's a shame, because the bike is a very pretty bike with loads of little détails (typical Yamaha) but you can't see any because of the dull colors !
It's VERY Motardy and great fun. Really is all engine. Why do France do that restriction thing. You have a full License, you have a full license. I don't get it?
Tamay64 I hope so mate. If I come to France, I can bring a 200 HP Monster but you guys that live there are not allowed to ride one. Crazy and stupid :-) I hope they do see sense!!
Blahdeblah52 I always thought if there was one thing France was good at, it was road laws and quality of the pavement, but I just found out about this restriction and now I'm upset lol. There are a ton of pretty ridiculous restrictions and taxes outside of that though. For example, my sister is a student and can't bump up her job to a full time for the summer because it would be illegal to go back to a part time in September when her classes would start. Genius.
Why thank you ! Well, my SMC is getting to 20.000km (16.000 miles) and so i thought it was time to sell it and i live in the South of France so i often go to spain wich has longue fast corners and on a SM its almost scary lol so i wanted something more stable. I wish i could have two bikes and kept it but i cant :'( Curse you money !
That bike had many things done to it, like the turning signals, and windscreen, and like you said adjustable clutch & brake levers, also it has the comfort seat, and brake lines & pads, could it be that the suspension was upgraded as well ? Looks like a used bike, not a demo form mother Yamaha.. Also Yam has fixed the throttle on the new Tracer, with a remap of the ECU, and the older bikes can get the same done for free, so there's a good chance this bike had that done, well maybe it's been done ??? I do have a question, how is the comfort seat, the stock seat is not the best for long rides ? Many thanks, yl
It was set up by the Yamaha dealer but the suspension was not upgraded ! For the seat it was comfortable but you will be stuck in it. I found it hard to move about on it (but that's my riding style, very mobile on the seat). Standard is not comfortable though ! But great the move about on. Long seat, Supermoto style !)
Le Canard Enragé I checked into it some more, the seat come in two or more versions of than model, a short, and long version, and that bike seems to have the short seat from the pictures I have seen. Thanks for clearing the other up. yl
Le Canard Enragé Almost forgot, its a great bike in many ways, like price, and a great motor & low weight. The little problems it has can be fixed to our liking. So it's my kind of bike..lol
Thx for the great review, i had a 690 SMC myself and have to go with something more wife friendly. This seems to be it. How would you say the passenger place is? I know you did not sit there though :P
Well, the person i've carried the most (and she's been on a 125 cc dual sport, 2 Supermoto's and then this) says it's very comfortable. And likes the fact that the seat is on the same level of the rider unlike sport bikes :)
great review! I used to have a bmw x moto smc. but i broke it. (well really bmw done it and they didnt want to recognize a piece), do you recommend the mt 09 as a great bike for smc bikers? it scares me a little because of the speed, waht do you think of speed, can you get used to it, or is it a fucking rocket???
You will feel at home from a SM rider because of the wide handle bars, flat seat and upright position ! But yes dude, it's a fucking rocket :D I love it ! But as all bike you get use to it ! And in B mode it's lovely and smooth. I have have done a video about the MT-09 Tracer with the an MT-09 with a touring touch, softer seats power delivary and all ! Check it out :)
and tis are the exact reasons why I changed my cross plane R1 for MT09 Street Rally, everyday bike with MASSSIIIVEEEEEE FUUUNNN FACTOOOORRRRRR!!!!!!! Wheelie like mad and SR has got higher seat which gives more SM feel. Love the fucker !!!!!
I have one bike with and one without... Ive never needed the ABS, hoping not to, however I like the hooligan aspect of skidding the back out! LOL not going to happen with ABS and dual linked brakes
Good vid. Dont know why but it put me in another place. As far as the bike it needs to be refined. And if they bring the fz07 here to the u.s. no ones buying this.
Oh so :) thank you. I dont know street triple. I know kawasaki Z750 brakes and they are like cheese :) Im looking for my new bike and MT09 is my choise. But i have scare from brakes and suspention ( most criticals things on this bike). But everybode say something else. One that there brakes are nothing much and one else says that this is the best from yamaha from R6 (not the pump). I dont know :) But thank you.
I really dont find it to be that much of a problem. And like any bike, you get used to the weird particularities it may have. I even quite like it actually because you can see closer in front of the wheel.
The key is not really in the middle. The instrument cluster feels like it's in the exact perfect spot, very well arranged., perfectly viewable. The bike is a blast. You can commute with it or just have enormous fun with it. i like it to much!
i love the bike . my thing is the rear shock is at a 45 degree angle, fuck me. why not more straight up and down? yamaha invented the monoshock on there dirt bikes. yz 125 etc.
Cheers mate. Yup, ALL bikes in France must be restricted to 106 BHP. If you have a accident and your bike is derestricted, the insurance wont cover you. Vive la fucking France

Great review, I've had mine for just 2 months here in California and Absolutely Love It !!! Great motor! Fun factor 10!
I loved the street triple all the way but the mt09 just makes me laugh :) ride on
Thank for your video and reviews! Really awesome .. already booked 1 for myself !! From Malaysia
This is now my bike, I got the metallic yellow. To live with it is exactly as you discovered. I find no downsides but I do not ride it like in the video. Dave Evans You're welcome, and thank YOU for your kind feedback ! Glad i could help :)
The roads look so nice and there seems to be nobody around. I love that in France you dont have 2m hedges on either side of every road.
Great video!
I have 500 miles on mine and am really coming to love it
Absolutely great review! A riders perspective! I want one! Thanks.
Bob Duper Really well done and funny, fantastic!
This video made me want this bike NOW!!
Sympathique test, vraiment engageant, merci !
Nice 'noise addiction' thing.
I guess all yamahas have this characteristic "gimme more" sound
Just can't get enough
nice review! exactly what I needed to know.
cheers mate.

Great review. The audio capture makes the engine sound like a loud hiss.
AWESOME REVIEW MAN! Very helpful
Nice vid..simple and direct !!!
Great reviews man keep it up!
Cheers ! I plan on making a review of my SMC soon :)
great review, and you are so right that most people don't get the point of the bike, I have one with an akrapovic exhaust, I love it.
Thanks :)
You happy with the Akra on ? Does it change the bike a bit or just the sound ?
Tamay64 hi mate yeah its adds about 4-5bhp and a bit more torque, is a lot lighter so that's also good, and sounds cool, there is a two brothers system that looks cool as well.
Simon Fly I just installed the Two brothers! looks great but just a little on the loud side (no DB Killer). I like it though.
awesome review! going to get it next month =)
Thanks for the nice review !
Like the music at the end very much; what's it called ?
Thanks !
I'm glad you liked it !
Music is Kylie Minogue - Love at first sight (TEEMID & Julia Cover)

That would be the logic way of thinking but hey, it's a good way to make MORE money off of bikers.
Hopefully they are droping the law in 2015 !

Clément Dutter
Is Brussels not freakin ludacris!!!
Hahah yes, I'm not sure any country was forced to adopt this though :P
Nice reviews you got there ;)
When are you gonna change and whats the mainreason for changing your smc?
Why thank you !

Bro, you're so fun
I love your video.. & i love 'mt09 too.. Hope to own it soon
Thank you very much !
I hope you get one too ! It's a fantastic bike !
how is it after 5k ride?
Even better :)

What do you think about the husqvarna nuda 900?
Great bike especially de R *drool*
Le Canard Enragé
Thank you for the answer. And between the nuda 900 and the ktm 690 SMC R wich one would you choose?
davidetre Hmm... Hard one, i guess it dépends, the SMC is more focused and the Nuda could be maybe a bit more "civilised". Dépends on your usage mate
Le Canard Enragé
Yeah right, I`ll use the bike mostly in the city... but I will probably choose the SMC R :)
Husqvarna nuda
Great bike !
and tis are the exact reasons why I changed my cross plane R1 for MT09 Street Rally, everyday bike with MASSSIIIVEEEEEE FUUUNNN FACTOOOORRRRRR!!!!!!! Wheelie like mad and SR has got higher seat which gives more SM feel. Love the fucker !!!!!
Fuck yeah
Do you have a link to the accessories? Haven't seen that hugger and seat before.
Sorry mate, i dont. Wasn't my bike and even if it was, that stuff wouldn't of interested me !
Le Canard Enragé fair enough. cheers for the reply anyway
Marvin Kessel You can see official accesories here: www.yamaha-motor.eu/uk/products/motorcycles/mt/mt-09.aspx?view=accessories#/
traperware cheers for the reply. i did have a look at the official accessories before, but can't find that seat or hugger on there.
Did you go for the ABS one? or ... do you like putting black lines in the street? lol
I like putting black lines in the Streets ;)
Yeah went for the non ABS. It's just another thing that can gone wrong in my opinion.
I have one bike with and one without... Ive never needed the ABS, hoping not to, however I like the hooligan aspect of skidding the back out! LOL not going to happen with ABS and dual linked brakes
Did you try the street triple and/or the brutales?
I'm afraid not mate
Well then dont do it in future or you might regret buying the yamaha ;)
Well probably not, but the Street triple is really really nice. Check it out
What's name of the last music?
TEEMID & Julia - Love At First Sight (Kylie Minogue Cover) i really liked 2
Good vid. Dont know why but it put me in another place. As far as the bike it needs to be refined. And if they bring the fz07 here to the u.s. no ones buying this.
What that song's name? Please!! The last song in the video.
TEEMID & Julia - Love At First Sight (Kylie Minogue Cover) i really liked 2
Hi,where you bought the saddle so soft
I have also MT09 and I would change the saddle
:) nice review bro!.
Cheers mate :)
nice write-up n video !
Dude, it's time to upgrade.
Lol I would strongly advise you to buy one lol i love mine the only problem id staying out of trouble with it ;)
Front break is the best from yamaha, why is not amazing?
It's good. But not Street Triple amazing for example
MT 09 2014 ? or 2013 ?
2013 no ABS
isnt it annoying that the speedo is on the right and the key is in the middle ...???
I really dont find it to be that much of a problem.
And like any bike, you get used to the weird particularities it may have.
I even quite like it actually because you can see closer in front of the wheel.
The key is not really in the middle. The instrument cluster feels like it's in the exact perfect spot, very well arranged., perfectly viewable. The bike is a blast. You can commute with it or just have enormous fun with it. i like it to much!
i love the bike . my thing is the rear shock is at a 45 degree angle, fuck me. why not more straight up and down? yamaha invented the monoshock on there dirt bikes. yz 125 etc.
Y have you sped the footage up its far too obvious its fast enough without you doing that
and this song is?
Kylie Minogue - Love at first sight (TEEMID & Julia Cover)
metal song name ? Please
Entrails - Unleashed Wrath
Thanks
Good review man ;) But what a f*ck is this with restrictioning bikes in France? So Yamaha R1 has under 110hp? That's really bad..
Cheers mate.
Yup, ALL bikes in France must be restricted to 106 BHP. If you have a accident and your bike is derestricted, the insurance wont cover you.
Vive la fucking France
Tamay64 and any asshole can drive a 200-300hp car, i love the regulations of the goverments.
That's really bad..
man, I wish the paint on our roads in America was made out of whatever the hell yours are........ if I crossed paint like that at those speeds on my FZ here I'd be low siding into a ditch every turn......
wtf? you mean the hayabusas, r1, fireblades and so on have only 106 hp in france? is that a joke!? you let this do to you without protesting?
We have protested. À lot. But they say they will stop this stupid law in 2015. We shall see...
lol..very
Mt09 crach bad style th-cam.com/video/hJFbDdcP1d0/w-d-xo.html
Next time, don't put WORDS, PLEASE!
