I have a Sangean CL100, an Eton Zone guard, a Midland WR300, a Radio Shack 12-991, a Capello CR2W, a Reecom R-1650 that is being replaced with an R-1630, and an Alert Works EAR-10 on the way. Had a Midland WR-120 that died unexpectedly.
UPDATE: It's now pretty much impossible to get the 12-991, 12-993, 12-996 and 12-522 on eBay, and trust me, they go FAST. Also, the 12-519 is pretty rare now.
There's a website called "Mercari" (which is a branch of Facebook Marketplace) where I got a 12-991 for $18 in pretty much mint condition. You'll see them on here kinda frequently but they do sell fast. I was lucky to get mine a week ago, but yeah it got here pretty fast and I'd say I got it way cheaper on there than I ever could on eBay
yep, as far as i know, i don't see any offers on the 996, 991, and 993. though i did find 2 offers on the 522, but it's probably still uncommon on ebay like those 3 other radios
The midland WR-120 is so common u can buy them in walmart the crank version as well as the plug in batter backup S.A.M.E radio. You can walk into pretty much any major grocery store and pick 1 up. So if your online shopping choices are limited and ya don't want to wait and you just need an emergency radio to watch the sky for danger that is fastest way to get one the same day. Now the WR-100 wasn't a horrible radio but the reason they stop making them was because half the time they would just go out randomly or not pick up alerts like the 120 which picks up alerts far more consistently and more accurately it was also better sound and had better alarm system in it. Example a company trashing a product that won't sell well when it had bad reviews.
i don't think there's a hand crank version of the wr-120. also, i believe the wr-100 got discontinued because of a reason that just about everybody knows: those high pitched squeals that you would hear if you had pressed the WEATHER button sometimes (i'm not sure if this is the actually reason as to why midland stopped selling it, but i'm just assuming) also, what do you mean "a company trashing a product that won't sell well when it had bad reviews"?
I bought a sangean for 36.00 which includes sipping and tax. Is your sangean still working. I've heard some bad things about sangean such as buttons become hard to press as time goes on
Have you seen the RadioShack 12-258? It's a rare weather radio, and my father used to own it. The antenna was broken, so in 2017, the signal started to go static, and we disposed of it, then replaced it with the Midland WR-120. The RadioShack 12-258 weather radio is still available, and I'm actually planning to get it for my birthday. I think you should add it to your collection, since it's an uncommon radio.
That model radio used to scare the crap out of me when I was little, so I covered my ears with blankets during my sleep, and even today, I still do it.
Meh, you don't know what that feels like until you get an AcuRite 8550, that thing used to scare the living crap out of me at 3:00 AM in the morning for FLOOD WARNINGS that don't effect me (I don't live near a river). Wilmington,OH likes to only put out their FLWs from 12:00 AM to 7:00 AM.
for my collection, i have -midland wr-30 (also known as a 74-210) midland wr-400 v2 -midland 74-200 v6 -a vondior 300wb (it’s not really a weather radio but rather a handheld am/fm radio with weather band and ALERT MODE for weather band) -and midland 74-210 (also known as my first weather radio/ i used to use this before i got my wr-30, but i no longer use it anymore since i replaced it with my wr-30) so i have 5 radios, 4 of which i currently use today except my 74-210 in a few days, i’ll get a radioshack 12-250 from ebay, and a midland hh50 soon after (i guess)
your best bet is ebay at this point, because i’m not sure if you can buy them on radioshack stores (since they’re not in business anymore, physically at least) nor amazon

After having so many different models, which one do you find is the most reliable and customizable for alert type and regions?

My midland wr400 doesn't use a micro USB cable
probably because you have the version 2 wr-400. wr-400 v2’s don’t come with a micro usb power adapter compared to the version 1’s which do have them
