you are the first vid to show how to do this on a frameless window. tyvm
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting, glad this helped!
Just a recommendation from my experience don’t take off all the adhesive at once because then it sticks where you don’t want it too. Do the top side than the right/left side than the other side and finally the bottom
Thank you for this video. Which kit to get?
Great question! Here is a link to Amazon if you would like.amzn.to/3EPe6im I would recommend the 3 pack depending on how windows you want to apply this to. If it's a lot start with 9 pack and see if you need more
A couple of issues with this one:
What happens when you need to take it down the next Spring? Then, put it back up the next winter?
You just take it down, remove the double side sticky and buy another and do it again. These aren't made for multiple uses with the same tape and shrink wrap from the season prior.
I have old windows that are usually held up by rope (they're broken now) and it's freezing cold in my room. I'm wondering if I can somehow do this and see if I can keep it warm. It's literally like a freezer in my room. We can't afford much, but if you think this works, I'll get a kit and try it
I’m putting up window insulation kits right now 🥶they work!! I grabbed a few from dollar tree several weeks ago….they go fast! And for the larger patio size double window, I bought that one from Home Depot. It has the roller cutter $19
For sure! This will help keep your house warmer. You could even do the double side tape on your wall around the window. As long as you have a seal for the plastic to stick to, you'll be good!
bro we are opposite my room is super hot especially in afternoon , because i live in a humid climate ac effect is very minimal , does this also help in cooling room by reflectijg light
This does work the same as the summer time. It helps with leakage but what will help more in the summer is reflective film. You can also find those as home improvement stores also.
Will this work for the summer heat?
You would think as the idea is to keep cold air out that it would do the same for hot. I personally have never tried but from what I have read, these don't do well for the summer. Getting more reflective curtains or upgrading your windows or even shutters would prove to work better than keeping these up all year.
That's what I need for the hot 🔥Miami summer. 🥵
The air gap will help in the summer as well. A reflective surface would be best to stop the sun from heating your house or a frosted or diffused sheet of plastic if you still want some light to come through.
can you just tape it down with regular tape instead of double sided tape
You can attempt it and if you do let me know how it goes. The strength of adhesion with the tape that is provided works great and is all I have used. However, you bring up a good point. Try it. See if it works. I can't say with 100% confidence that it does or does not.
Will this help window condensation
Maybe? I'm not sure to be honest. Your windows may continue to build condensation but it would be between your window and this film. It may actually reduce it a little bit because of this added area. Could be worse, could be the same. Unsure. Try it and let me know :)
Does this mean you cannot open that window the whole season..? Would it still work if you stick the plastic on each window (in this case, top one and the bottom one separately) instead of one big sheet covering the whole thing?
Correct you can't use that window if you go this method without removing the plastic. The whole reason why this works is it creating an additional air void between the window and the actual plastic. Putting plastic on each section, reduces the space between the window and plastic you would have created which would result in not working as effectively as designed. Plus if you have a window like this, where it slides on a track and wanted a sheet on each section of the window, as you slide it open it would rip off the adhesive to the other window its sliding over. I would recommend using it as 1 sheet and get your fresh air from doors (install a screen door).
@@ColtonCrumpDIY That makes sense! Thanks!
You're welcome!!
After the winter, is it easy to remove the adhesion? I live in a rented apartment and im worried it will be hard to remove the adhesion once winter is done
Great question. It's actually really really easy. Every time I removed the shrink wrap/saran wrap/ whatever you want to call it, it almost always pulled off either the entire tape with it or pulled up a large portion that I could then get enough to grab onto and pull the rest off.
The kit i bought left the tape residue and it turned yellow .I am trying to clean it but takes so long.
@@ukrena interesting. I'm sorry to hear that! The kit i used linked in the description of the video put up real easy and came off just as easy. Even after a full season. It does make a difference if you are installing this on a painted wall, wood, painted wood, metal, or vinyl with the metal structure. Majority of the newer windows are made with vinyl but underneath that is usually a metal structure for strength and stability.
@@ukrenanext time put masking tape on the frame/wall beforehand, that way you dont have to worry about residues, hope it helps!
Great tip!
Can you say soemthing about the warning in the box with this product abouth cancer
soemthing about the warning in the box with this product abouth cancer.
Kidding. Haha. I'm not aware of this warning. Everyone please read the label!
Everything these days has the cancer warning. If the air and water could hold labels they'd have that warning attached too. Our entire planet is contaminated. Just take the warning with a grain of salt according to your personal circumstances and needs. This warning is printed on everythingb especially plastics and chemically produced products, including FOOD products.
And then you can't open the window to ventilate the room and you end up with condensation. Useless solution.
Why would you want to open the window during winter? Defeats the purpose of insulation. It's meant to be a temporary fix to save electricity.
Fresh air
Yes, this is exactly what I was wondering about. Even during the winter, I like to open the window to let fresh air in.
@@jhaycis446you know you can open the front or back door...let a fan circulate some air inside the house real quick. Although your door might be weather proofed...ur windows are not. So seal up the windows for the winter and quit cryin about fresh air 😅
I learned in first grade how to pronounce height. I want earth, do you not know how. There’s not even a “h” the end. Why are you saying “heighth”
I have invisalign and sometimes words come out funny. Why you making fun of me?
