    Man, I wish I would have discovered Daniel's channel way sooner. The combination of his and Gotham's videos should be required watching for anyone getting into chess. Levy is great at explaining broad, overarching concepts in dramatic, memorable ways, while Daniel is simply amazing at breaking down the logic behind even the most seemingly mundane individual moves. I got into agadmator's channel first, and while he's certainly a fantastic teacher in his own right, I now feel like he's better suited for intermediate players who already have a good understanding of the game. But I feel like the combination of Daniel and Levy's teaching could turn almost anyone into a very good player, regardless of their preferred learning style.

    • @sylver76
      @sylver76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Agadmator is good at bringing up great games and showing engine lines, but he is an intermediate player (around 2000 Fide) and his actual understanding is very far from that of a super GM like Daniel.

    • @peterpan3022
      @peterpan3022 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@sylver76 daniel is not a super gm. ppl rly should stop saying that under every video. your point still stands, there is miles between a gm and a 2000 player. but stop throwing the term super gm around so willy nilly pls

    • @MountainSmell
      @MountainSmell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used to watch levy for education on chess, but I found that his "broad, overarching concepts" were really just vague convoluted phrases which really just confused me. He is really good at chess, but maybe not the best at explaining it. I still watch levy but only for entertainment.

    • @trequor
      @trequor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that time format is the main factor tbh. In bullet and hyperbullet even the strongest players can blunder mate... and sometimes forced mate happens faster than resignation. But in classical chess it is exceptionally rare for a strong player to blunder mate. Even under time pressure they have minutes to see basic mate threats.

    I’m beginning to suspect that the strength in GM Danya’s videos for me is not just the analysis and explanations - going through a book with responses & refutations can give me that (yuck😆) - but rather the spontaneous thinking along that helps me so much. I seem to be better at getting what might be coming than before, and definitely better at following the reasoning.
    For example, at 28:49 after white’s Be3 black going Bc5 looks interesting and is something that at my beginner level wouldn’t usually occur to me on the fly (not that it’s legit - just that it’s part of thinking along with the video for me).

After this speed run, you should do a series on the most important end games everyone should know explained by you, a GM. I would pay to watch it. I know there’s the 100 end games that are famous. Play e3, then knight e2, knight g3, queen e2, and eventually when opponent plays d5, to play Nc3 and then get his G knight all the way to H5 in order to take on F6, and distract the queen and the knight from the defense of the D pawn.
    I know it might not be easy to visualize, but you should be able to u sweat and the absurdity of this plan just by my description. He plays this setup every game as white and black.

    Meanwhile Danya’s opponent is like:
    1300 rated chess, but you can’t move your pawn two squares. Hah, that’s too easy! But, of course, I can’t argue with money. Playing rapid chess on 13 hundred rated account. [Some finding an opponent music.] We get a 1386 from US. Obviously, the best move is e4, but that makes me a fool for ending my own video. Therefore, e3. He moves his woman’s pawn up two squares. Very aggressive. […]

    I actually love seeing vids on countering these bad openings, even at 1700 I dont always know how to properly punish them. I might get a "better" position but I dont get the big advantage you should when your opponent makes like a billion pawn moves and developes passively lol.

    It seems in all games, even though its 15 min a side, your opponents generally finish with more than 10 min on the clock. At that point why not play some 5 min blitz?

    • @siriusly7081

      cuz he wants a lot of time to explain his play, its an instructive speedrun

    • @NaimManiger
      @NaimManiger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all, this is 15minutes with 10 seconds increment. Second of all, he has significantly less time to explain and be instructive with only 5 minutes on his clock. These videoes are meant to teach..

      @@NaimManiger he's asking about the opponent's logic, not Danya's

    • @NaimManiger
      @NaimManiger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@poundcayx that also could be of many reasons. As mentioned it’s still 15/10 and not only 15, and Blitz is a completely different mode than rapid. Maybe they want to improve their rapid rating? Maybe they usually play slower? Maybe since Daniel uses so much time on each move they don’t need as much time to think? Maybe they just want to try the 15/10 format? This should try to answer it lol

      When you play someone of closer to equal skill level, the games last longer and you make more moves. Facing Danya, he gives you a lot of time to think on his turns, and the games are probably much shorter in move-count
