    Thanks very much - the LinkedIn explanation of viewing Profile Strength Meter was almost useless since it said to look for a "meter" which to me meant literally analog meter (i.e. a dial with a needle) or a digital meter - seeing your description of the dashboard made it simple to figure out what to look for in my case.

    Excellent 👌 really useful.. I have a question, probably you may answer.... I am living in India and am looking for a job in abroad for example - Canada, USA, Europe and Australia. So, in reality is it possible to get a job in abroad from India?

    • @myemmotion
      @myemmotion  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much for your feedback! Regarding the question, you can look for a job abroad but keep in mind that the vast majority of companies would require a work permit for you to be considered as a potential candidate. Years ago it was easier, because some companies helped with visa and work permit paperwork, but nowadays it's complicated.

    Tact has never been one of my strong points. I'm Italian, and Italians are very big on guilt. But, to get to the issue on hand, I'm preparing myself for my new at home business, which I call The Caterpillar Boutique. It's my baby, however, I know that I have much to learn. I would be lost if I didn't have people like you to mentor me in the art of entrepreneurship. I must learn advertisement, marketing, email, and so much more. All the books and other speakers highly recommend tools and skills such as social media. Am I a mess? Yes. Don't worry, though, I haven't reached the point of hysteria yet.

      Hi Chris. What is your business going to be about?

    I am a college student, and on our campus, we have a professional development/ career development center. And the thing they always tell us is that the resume should include enough details to get the point across for what you can do at this job, what have you done in the past that makes this position applicable. They tell us to never flood the resume with everything we do. ANd they usually follow that by saying include a link to your LinkedIn where you can write all of that information.

    • @myemmotion
      @myemmotion  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are completely right about a resume, that's the way it should be, but not about LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a lot more than your resume, you CAN and you should include all that content on LinkedIn.

  • @LL-hj8yh
    @LL-hj8yh 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Really helpful information!
    2 quick questions:
    1. What's your take of turning on 'career interests'? It says won't show it to current companies, colleagues, yet not sure about the potential 'risks';
    2. Activate premium member: does this give you better chance being viewed/connected by recruiter, or maybe they prefer not to view your profile, as they cannot do it anonymously anymore?
    Thanks a lot!

    • @myemmotion
      @myemmotion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the feedback! :) In regards to your questions:
      1. Activating this feature will increase your visibility in searches, but it doesn't mean getting contacted for relevant and attractive to you positions. The risks are there also, since you would appear as "open to opportunities" to recruiters who are not at your organization. But if anyone at your company hasn't updated their LinkedIn to a current role, they would also see you. I would recommend this feature for less experienced professionals, who just look into switching jobs but don't have particular interests in a certain role or company.
      2. If you activate "Premium" it isn't going to influence the anonymous views, they will still be shown as anonymous. But you'd be able to view the whole list of your profile viewers (if they are visible) instead of only the last 5 which the free profile shows. If you want to get in touch with recruiters yourself then the premium option would be worth it, since you would be able to send "inMails" to anyone.

    • @daviddeparis3852
      @daviddeparis3852 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used open to opportunities and got a lot of junk offers

    • @LL-hj8yh
      @LL-hj8yh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@myemmotion Thank you for the response!
      1. I was earlier under the assumption that the 'career interest' could actually help potential recruiters identify you (as it allows you to select specific roles you're interested in), yet what you said do make sense to me. I guess it is indeed possible that someone from the company with a new recruiter account could look you up and see what your 'career interests' are and it is the risk that comes with it unfortunately.
      2. It seems like the 'Premium' allows you to view more visiting history/reach out to more people, but not going to help me stand out in recruiter's searching results? Maybe something like my profile would appear in the 2nd page of searching results without premium, but maybe would show in the first page if with premium.

    • @LL-hj8yh
      @LL-hj8yh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daviddeparis3852 Got it, thanks for sharing your experience! Indeed your account would have more junk offers once you switch to open, but does it bring you more legit opportunities, meaning do you feel like switching to open is worth it? You previous comment sounds like your answer may incline to not worth it, just curious.

    • @myemmotion
      @myemmotion  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @L L If you check the description made by LinkedIn of “Career Interests”, it’s exactly the same as “open to opportunties”. www.linkedin.com/help/recruiter/answer/67406/viewing-candidates-who-are-open-to-new-opportunities-in-recruiter?lang=en
      And regarding a Premium account, you can try it for free during one month. And you should. So you could check all the features for yourself. It definitely increases your visibility but it wouldn’t get you a job, unless you actively look for it at the same time.
      Hope it helps :)

    Best Linkedin video, period. Believe me I watched like 10 and yours is the most informative. The only thing is the pace when you speak, it could be a bit faster, I guess English is not your native language but it's a very well done and very informative video

I am trying to set up a profile and looking for a new job but my issue is, I did a science degree but now also very passionate about digital marketing. Have done an online marketing course now. Not sure how to mix both of these in my profile or which kind of job I would like to look for. I have just replied to this, but not sure why it doesn't appear here.
      What I said is that your should definitely go for something you love doing, especially if you are currently doing a course on it as well. As an entry position there would not be much difference in terms of requirement, you can always "tailor" your profile and resume to the positions you might find. Check out this resume video also to get more ideas on how to update your resume and how to tailor it better: th-cam.com/video/CBEOJHUnFAg/w-d-xo.html
