I have a similar machine and the same problem. I see other machines where the hydraulic thumb retracts almost parallel with the arm. I believe that it is a design fault and am looking at fitting a shorter hydraulic cylinder on the thumb.

Yes, it does get in the way. The hydraulic thumb is better positioned on the new CT12 models.
