Another rule for Minas Tirith's sieges should be that the first wall must be unbreakable, like it is in the lore and the movie xD, so it must be assaulted by the gates and some siege towers

The Gondor players did an awesome job trying to defend. The odds were extremely against them. Gondor deployed 2713 troops against the evil forces 5544 troops. So they had over twice as many. It would be awesome if like Apollo and another veteran player play the same scenario as Gondor and play with the 85% rule and see if they could win. Anyway this still was an epic battle!

rules are fine.. the defender had no catapult at the top. that would of easily taken tons and tons of force out. you saw the siege and ballistic, they are position wrong spot and they didn't do much..

I think the defendera could have won but they did mistakes which caused them to lose
first of all thank you appollo for uploading those vidoes now I don't mean what I say as criciticism just what I saw from my view point also I think all those glitches are really annoyimg and can effect the end result of the scenrios now for what I seen those are the mistakes of the deffenders:
1. they didn't retreat early enough and fast enough to the first choke point
2. they didn't form a line of shiled wall it was to tight and not wide enough
3.thet didn't reinforce it in time
4.they didn't pull back the aritelery from there
5.they could have dismounted at the scenod point the swan knight and then hold out longer and take more troops with the catapult
or retreat alltogather from there
6.at the lsat point they weren't postined right the could have easily posined thoe last forces a little down the slope and put the archers direcly behind them as a lot of their arrows hit the ground and not the enemy
again it's probly easy for a watcher to just sit and say what could they have done better but it's hard to do things during the game again great video loved it and also I thanks to the one who creatd this

according to the Lore for LOTR the outer walls of Minas Tirith are made from Orthram, the same Stone as the tower of Orthanc, this means that they are completely unbreakable by conventional means.

"the halberd twins" and describing Gondor's trolls as "shotgun of gun" are my favorite favorite lines. Then when you said "I live for virtual siege battles" I laughed hard that I choked on popcorn! I was disappointed that Gondor didn't hold the ramp or the bottom of the incline leading to town center would have been smarter and gotten more kills maybe. The rangers at the end should have stuck with standard arrows instead of fire. The arrow won Agincourt not fire!
Although I agree that the battle was unfair, realistically, war isn't fair

Please keep up doing this sieges, i have no problem with them being so long! Its just awesome to watch, it just would be better if Gandalf arrives in the last minute and saves the day for Gondor... :D
Good thing that the actual siege did not have Rhúnic or Isengard warriors and that Gondor had the Rohirrim, even with all that is was close, good job to the Blue Wizards for keeping the Rhúnic army in the East!
there was rhun. most of the warriors at minas tirith were men of the east and south.

Hey apollo, have you seen the Wargame series? like Airland battle or Red Dragon? i'd love to see some historical campaigns done by you and your friends, I know its a divergence from this, but I enjoy these quite a lot, and I think you'd be great at the same vein of videos in other games.

I've got Fourth Age, for Rome: Total War, Barbarian invasion. And the dwarves have got to be the best faction for defending cities. Your dwarf cities are inside mountains, the walls have an overhang, so you get some protection to any archers. But you don't even need to defend the walls, once they get through them, there is 1 bridge they have to cross to get inside the city, which is really easy to defend, because I then splits into a crossroads, so I just put a unit at the cross of each road, with 1 in reserve for when they get tired, and my general just behind as well. I have defended against 3 full stacks of Rhun, and I lose about 8 dwarves every time, out of an army of about 150. I think theres also a bit of a glitch, if you put units on the bridge, for some reason, none of their missile troops shoot at them, they just join in the press against the units.

I was playing a Minas Tirith siege multiplayer map for mount and blade warband, and we literally spent about fourty minutes at the final gate, because it had oil above it, and it kept melting our men.
We had thirty.
They had five.

The shieldwall is an ideal situation. Mostly a battlefield is just chaos, though, due to peasant levies.

buy medieval 2 total war, its the best one and you will not regret it one bit. it has great mods for it out there aswell which is just a bonus

I was Rhun in this battle. Had no idea Gondor had trolls saw them charge towards me, thiunking yes! i have backup, then they rolled my troops who quickly broke....

Defenders should not only defend the outer wall, but also the inner walls as well (if they have them), with the troops needed for the task.
One problem I have with this scenario is how you can breakdown the walls of Minas Tirith. The walls are meant to be made out of the same material as Isengard. So the walls should be impenetrable. They can still breakdown the gate. In the books that is Minas Tirith's only weak point.
darksouls fanboy865 blame the movies, in the book there was even a long wall out in the fields defending the city.

Gondor pretty much did this in the movie. Smart move I'll have to say.
The attackers started with 5552 troops. The defenders had 2713 troops. At the end the attackers had 1271 troops and the defenders had 1 troop. Presumably he was then thrown from the top along with all the others and then eaten.

Yeah I'm not surprised about what Djokodal did with those swan knights. I did a battle with him once, it was me as Rhun and Awesome 108(the Harad player for those of you who don't know) as Mordor with him defending Edoras as Rohan. Sure the evil factions won because it was 2v1 and the 1 just happened to be a terrible siege defense faction, but he completely wrecked Mordor's army with just 3 or 4 units of cav, so it was all down to me and i was just sitting there battering down his walls saying oh crap to myself watching him do that

true, but from my side it just looked so helpless, i wanted to do something about it but i just couldn't, because i figured as soon as he saw me moving to help you he would just do as much damage as possible then run back inside, then tear up my army
Yeah lucky my trolls were able to break through and help you get through.
Pro Tip:Make sure your enemy is holding another wall while there figthing put your best archers and try to aim the best as you could and put some troops defending the archers
The swan knight turned this battle around.

i don't mean to sound rude, just seeking advice, cos the river fort battle u did with jackie u said that 'I am obviously going to send my troops up in waves' but in this battle u said nvr do that. I'm confused, how should I go about siege battles?
With larger siege battles you want your brunt attack force to hit them and break them quick. With smaller ones where you don't have many troops, your main goal as the attacker is to 1: Take the city and 2: Keep your men alive long enough to take the city. for instance, if there was a smaller one, you would want to send in waves to weaken the defense for the brunt force of your group. Hope that helped.
