Yeah. I think their newer stuffs, although less rock-y and more pop/EDM-y, are more interesting than their older stuffs.

Greetings from a fellow metalhead! I believe the keychange in Good Night is a short change to a major chord, while the rest of the song is in minor. They also do the same thing in You and I, but it is very short and barely noticeable. And then:
Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. It's not exactly a Deja Vu per definition, but I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions.
Hello fellow metalhead!! I totally agree that Deja Vu is an absolute masterpiece! That video makes it hard for me to focus on the song, because I'm enjoying the MV so much 😂

Your pitch axis theory is called chromatic movement in classical music
I was raised around musicians, mostly more the classical types, but grew up listening to rock and metal. And I pretty much stayed in the rock / punk rock / hard rock / metal area for decades. And then a few years ago I found out that there are new bands in Japan making fantastic new rock and new hard rock and new metal, and I flipped! But. Then. I ran across Dreamcatcher a year ago, maybe a bit more. And suddenly my "no pop" world became highly, highly inclusive of K-pop. How?! Why?!? It's sooo good, tho?
And I don't always appreciate a musician reactor's detailed breakdown of something "I just like listening to", but Chris, man, you have a great way about you in catching and explaining really cool details that I have (usually, definitely NOT always) noticed before, and then breaking them down into why they work and why they're cool. So, thank you :)
honestly, it's tough for me to like reaction videos nowadays, because most will just react with 'uuu' 'aah' 'wow' 'yeah' 'i like it' 'this is awesome' and just end the video after thanking for watching. The guy made me stay when he started to talk technical. i love it when people appreciate the inner workings of songs, not just blindly listen to it and just headbang. i'm saying this because i have watched professionals/experts (musicians, dancers, choreographers, music producers, poets) react to Dreamcatcher and they genuinely love these girls because of the works and efforts that goes into their songs.😊
it's hard to choose favourites, because they keep getting better, and they always try new concept for every comeback and they always deliver and never disappoint.😍

Oh I think you should check out Siyeon's Entrancing and their BEcause. Entrancing is SIyeon's second solo from the newest album and all the girl's solos are self produced and composed with some help from their producer (Siyeon, JiU and Dami did most of their production, composition and arrangement themselves). Its not rock but the intrumentals and vocals are absolutely stunning. Her original sketch was a lot more like slow battle music but the final piece was very waltzy with a traditional feel to it. BEcause on the other hand has a lot of genre switches and incorporates a lot of horror soundtrack elements.
Ooooooo we will have to check that out! I definitely want to see him react to BEcause, that is such an amazing song
Check out their Japanese songs too. The songs tends to be heavier than Korean. I would suggest Endless Night, No More and Don't Light My Fire.
On the side note, i want to hear Chris thoughts on J-metal/J-rock scene music especially with all female bands/female fronted bands. So much going on in that country.
Ahhhhh yessss! What are your top 3 suggested female fronted J-metal/J-rock bands?? He has heard some J-metal/J-rock like Crystal Lake, The GazettE, Diaura.....but nothing female fronted.
@@DreamDropKPOP I would first suggest Band-Maid, Gacharic Spin, SCANDAL, TRiDENT etc. They're all female hard rock band and then Nemophila, Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus, Hanabie, Sokokinaru. These are all female metal bands.
For me, my top 3 is Band-Maid, Dreamcatcher and Unlucky Morpheus.

I have to pause the video and comment this one. I love how Chris explained things and pointed out things I haven't noticed on the music/song even though I have been listening to it for years! It was a fun video so far so I will be editing this comment after lol

dreamcatcher always switches it up and even more so with their b-sides. since a few of the songs you checked out were part of the same series, some may sound more similar to each other than other songs in their discography. try their newer title tracks like 'because' and 'maison' or even some bsides that have performance videos like 'red sun', 'wind blows', and 'black or white'.
We literally had to re-film the intro because I didn't know he was going to do the finger heart with me and I freaked out 😂

"Deja Vu" sounds different because it isn't part of the Nightmare series. The did an actual mini album release for it, but the video itself is actually an ad for a MOBA called "King's Raid."
I'd definitely check out a future reaction of their Japanese tracks. Such as Endless night, Breaking out and No More. No more especially since it's very heavy metal. - great reactions, I was very invested.
As a metal musician and kpop aficionado myself, I would recommend "No More" and "Endless Night" from them which are I think more on the metal side than DC's usual stuff (I love all their stuff though, they're so good!). Especially with "No More", when I first heard that song I thought it was straight up a metal band I hadn't heard of yet :D
Fly high is the start of the nightmare series it's the prequel and each one represents each nightmares/phobias: Fear of being chased,Fear of restraint,Claustrophobia,Scopophobia,Mazeophobia,Oulinophobia or Agliophobia and Basophobia for each member

At like 2:08 he said he likes the lead guitar and I’m not sure if you noticed, but it’s the same melody as the little music box intro. The whole thing is actually sampled from a classical piece (Passacaglia in G minor No7 by Georg Friedrich Händel), so that’s a fun bit of trivia^^
[edit: also just wanted to say, nice reaction! It’s super enjoyable listening to you talk about the music. If I could recommend some more DC songs for him to react to, “break the wall” and “endless night” are probably their most rock/metal-esque songs and it’d be interesting to hear his takes on them or “and there was no one left” and “sleep-walking” which are completely different]

As a DC fan this just showed up in my feed. I love seeing reactions and analysis from different perspectives and I thought Chris did a great job picking out different things in the music that I, as a non-musician, wouldn't have even thought much about. Like when he talks about the double time and it's just the drums, I knew the song went harder but wouldn't have thought it was just the drums doing that. Very Cool. More of him please, and of course, more Dreamcatcher. ;)

Its actually the 3rd release but if we look at the events chronologically, the events start on Fly High, then Chase Me, then Good Night.
In You and I the girls try to rescue Yooheon, because the Spider curse get her as revenge for killing a little Spider in their song Fly High. I think that's the reason of the door Bell, because they go inside the nightmare and is like "excuse me, going to save our friend, thanks" ish xd

Definitely Scream, Boca, and Odd Eye
7:28 rather than a key change, they just used the parallel major of the chord instead of the original minor which means the third is raised but the key remains the same.
that's what I'm thinking too
The order MV to follow the story starts from
1. Fly High (starts from Yoohyeon kill a magic shit spider)
2. You & I ( the spider came for her and take her, so they tried to revive her, they did, but its not her)
3. What (Jiu knows that its not Yoohyeon anymore)
4. Piri (The girls came to spirited world to seek for Yoohyeon but they all failed and became hauted ghosts)
5. Chase Me (a ghost hunter tried to seek for them)
6. Good Night (the ghost hunter lose)
I think you have the order mixed up.
Fly high (the girls are dabbling in magic and yes, she kills the damn magic spider, which begins cursing them. Sua is sus, and maybe controlled by spider)
2) Chase Me (Investigator or ghost hunter trying to figure out what is up with the mansion. The girls are nightmares, stuck in their own, and torment him)
3) Good night (he finds the nightmare book and begins to use it to trap them. They trap him, take the book, free themselves, and run. Book gets dropped)
4) You and I (the girls real selves are still trapped, and their nightmare selves are out in the world. The spider and Sua still out to get Yoohyeon. The girls try to free themselves and Yoohyeon, but fail, leaving her.)
5) What (a Modern nightmare...or reality. Either way Yoohyeon is not with them and they wish to find her. Eventually they use the book to go back in and find her)
6) Piri (they go looking for yoohyeon and their true selves. They are trapped, but now they are together
7) Breaking out (Possible alternate end/true end. The red strings that bind them together allow them to fully free themselves from the nightmare.)
Deja Vu is actually a stand alone arc.

Y’all need to watch/listen to Endless Night and No More!! Or their Primavera performance
7:18 instead of playing a Fminor, that is usually played in this part, they did a Fmajor, so pass this sensation of a key change.
But i'm not a expert in theory, so if theres other key that shares the played chords with a Fmajor, could be it.
I heard the key change too, but the majority of the chords remains the same, only the Fm change to F, that's why i suspect that's the same key (Fmin)

You should ask Chris to listen to Dreamcatcher's Dystopia Trilogy (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye), BEcause, Piri and Maison. It really show how Dreamcatcher sound keep changing over the years...:D

DC's music evolves after WHAT is my opinion, then Scream era is what they are now. although You & I is one of their most loved songs, to me my least favorite title song. actually i like their rearranged version during their concerts. btw, their Bsides are so versatile... hope you get to enjoy those as well. btw, check out Mayday... every rock group needs a song called "Mayday"

I absolutely love Rolling Quartz so we will definitely check them out!! I haven't heard of Walking After U, so I'm interested to learn about them! I think it would be fun to have Chris analyze differences between Dreamcatcher's version and Rolling Quartz's version of 'Good Night'. 🤔

Like the 5150 we have in the background? 5150 is a guitar amplifier made by Peavey that was originally a signature model created by Eddie Van Halen. So it's just a really popular high gain amp that rock/metal players use because of the distorted sound they get from it. I had to check with Chris that I was giving you the correct info 🤣
