- What up what up just wanted to share this how to video on how to install this Midwest Industries combat t series free float handguard because who doesn’t need a quad rail
Good call on leaving it on. It is a barrel shim. It looks an Aero barrel nut, that shim is used to time the notch in the barrel nut to the gas tube. Great job brothuh!
One thing id recommend during install is to put an optic mount or sights right where the rail and upper receiver meet so alignment is straight. Looks food tho and that Quad rail looking solid my man. Good shit!
That's a barrel nut shim. I would remove it but it isn't 100% necessary to do so. Some barrel nuts require them to time the nut but midwest doesn't need them. As long as you got even torque you're fine.
So that's what that is thanks brother
Glad to see you having some fun with your build. its like Lego's for adults right. I think I'm gonna pick up one of their 9.5" rails for my pistol rig.
How’d it turn out? What’s your barrel length? I’m considering a 9.5 on my 10.5 barrel.
@@rookiboi26 it turned out insanely cool, it’s my favorite upper I’ve made. I actually did a 10.5” barrel with the 9.5” upper and it’s perfect. Would recommend and good luck with your setup
@TristenApblanc
Been thinking about young a 9.5 quaddie on my 10.5 thx for the comment!
I looks really good thanks for sharing
I have that same rail and I love it.
After taking off barrel nut and gas block did you or is it necessary to check the headspace? Lookin for advice
is it possible to have a shorter quad rail and more exposure of the barrel to get a lighter rifle?
Yes, I’ve seen a 9.5 inch version of this quad rail. I’m sure they have other sizes as well.
Is there a dimple by tour gas block so you can get it lined up?
Not 100% sure bud but I think Midwest actually advertises it as a 15” quad rail
There are other sizes avalaible at their website
Hope I get a response for this but I just bought this specific rail and is being delivered! I’m buying all the tools I need like vise, wrench, 1/2 torque wrench. Now I’m struggling to find what block vise I will need for this build! Can you please tell me what you used?
Check out magpul bev block works great for upper and lower work
@@norcalrifleman6785 thank you!! Did you also ending up torquing the 10-32 screws? Didn’t you doing that in the video
How long is your barrel?
16
Is that for ar15 or ar10 ? Btw thnks for sharing
Ar15
Is this an aero m5 upper?
No it's a 300 blackout I ended up using this rail on a different build and used an Aero handguard on this one
Looks like the 15 inch T series.
What kinda silencer is dat
Not a silencer it's a muzzle break
@@norcalrifleman6785 Which muzzle break is that?
Ah it was looking nice and and he put the lower on I saw it was that Cali bulshit......too bad man.
Barrel rim
Beautiful rifle!
Torque not twerking
Bootleg ris II
Your barrel looks odd to me. It looks like an 18 or 20 inch barrel, with a carbine gas length. On my 16 inch with the carbine length, the gas block is almost directly in the center. But you stated that it's a 16 inch. Weird.
he said its a 300 blackout upper so it has a pistol length gas system
what pistol grip is that
it appears to defeat the fundamentals of marksmanship. I.E. a high firm grip of the hand on the pistol grip. so i don't understand the purpose of that flap. my creds 16 years USMC infantry, of that, 4 years marksmanship instructor, combat marksmanship instructor, MCRD rifle team.... and some other cool guy stuff. please let me know what that is for, thanks. good video on the rail though. keep up the good work.
Unfortunately here in California we are not allowed to have standard pistol grips on rifles that don't have a fixed mag system. By having a finn grip we are allowed to keep a detachable mag in our rifles . It's silly
@@norcalrifleman6785 hey man, you should look at moving next door to AZ, still near fam and friends, but a whole bunch more free
@@norcalrifleman6785That was my thought. 😂 That grip has “California rules” written all over it. Other than that, nice setup bro.
30 inch pounds on set screws
