I love the 70s aesthetic for the "tight on top, loose on bottom" silhouette which suits my inverted triangle frame! And for photographs of my parents as young adults - I like feeling connected to them by incorporating elements that they used to express new freedoms. Before my brother and I came along to put an end to all of that 😂.

I was a teenager in the 1970's, my formative fashion years. It's so fun to see the return of 70's fashion. I've always loved the comfort of corduroy, the silhouette of the high waist pants, clogs, and the prints. The updated version of tie dye can be more sophisticated, rather than hippie chic. Not crazy for the ultra wide leg (tripping hazard on stairs) and extreme platform shoes (ankle busters). I have gone with a more subtle version of both of the latter trends.

Thank you for sharing Lauren, Sometimes it's just the way we wear it that can make it 70's but lots of bright colours we should look for to include 70's as well, and your right you can include something from your wardrobe into 70's style even with the newsboy hats that are coming back, thanks for sharing love this, look forward to more🥰 x

I love 70s classics. I was 10 in 1970 and all the cool teenagers and young women wore the Mod Squad-style flared jeans//trousers, boots, a turtleneck and a zip-up, leather mid-thigh coat. I got a coat like this last year (new, Anne Klein) and just love it and recreating those outfits. I also love Jackie O’s 70s looks, with her simple classic pieces. I just wish the coat had a belt, but otherwise, it’s pretty close to what I remember.

I love this detailed breakdown! For the past couple of years I've been searching for "modern 70's" style but haven't found anyone explain it in such an applicable way. Thank you!

this kind of folksy look is my favourite 70s aesthetic, but it was a period that had so many different looks - punk, diso, glam rock

So many great ideas! I love 1970s style both in my home and in my closet. I need to get some cute little neck scarves - you always make them look so cute with simple outfit ideas. I love your clogs! It's so much fun to share our love of 70s together here on TH-cam. 💛

Missing to mention LARRY LEGASPI, the *creator of the Space look* and the use of platinum leather in boots and shoulder pads (he made clothes for *Labelle, KISS and Parliament -Funkadelic* ). As a straight male only interested in culture, I found your video very well done: vibrant and informative😉😘

Reminds me of my teenage years, Lauren. I’m loving the return of the autumnal color palette in force, as those colors suit my skin tone. Lastly, as a pear-shaped gal, I’m rejoicing in the return of loser legged pants! Great and fun video.

You did a fabulous job of adapting the 70's style for today. I love your style. As someone who was in highschool in the 70's you nailed the styles. I loved the fashion, music and decor of that time. I used a shampoo made by Wella I think "Farrah Fawcett" shampoo lol sounds silly now but it was the best shampoo ever for thick wavy hair. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I was in high school in the 70s and had like 8 shiny silky polyester shirts.I would wear them to school tucked into a long pair of black dress slacks.I was tall and skinny and loved to dress this way.

cowl neck sweaters, gauze button up shirts, cap sleeve tees. We wore a lot of straight leg Levis with cuffs and Dr. Scholls or workboots.

I was born in 1969 so have many memories of ‘70’s fashion…not all good!! Lol! My personal favourite is Paisley which I can’t resist if I see it in the shops 😊 and love the look of a bell bottom flare on my gorgeously tall and slim daughter!

What do y'all recommend for someone whose color palette doesn't match the earthy tones of the 70s? 😭
I best suit pastels and overall a cool winter look.

I want to add one more thing to help you - the 70's age was full of shock you to get you to buy as in magazines or watch as in tv . If you want real info on what people really wore, I saw a short highlighting Brides Magazine. In Brides you will get a better perspective of what was truly popular also Harpers Bazaar was a good influencer . I wore white button down shirts with a pin at collar pared with a slim skirt, or a circular skirt and vest combo, wrap skirts, designer jeans like Sergio Valente was all the rage. By the way this is A's mom.

your camel jacket is more 1980s, being double breasted. your jeans look to straight legged when should be flared or boot cut, which would suit you more, just sayin 😊 I grew up in 70s Britain, my mum used to make alot of my clothes, great times back then, I loved our home and my parents taste in furniture

You butchered the 70's. Firstly, the Viet Nam War was the first half of decade. This is Bella bottoms continuation of 60's plus disco was starting to take hold which was mainly seen on tv and movies and the club scene and not commonly on street. Now the second half of decade was English inspired and Jessica McClintock ruled with her Gunne Sax dresses and her lace designed dresses was just coming on the scene. Corduroy and circular/wrap skirts was popular . Gunne Sax and floral dresses was an attempted to return to feminine clothes after the wild/break the rules of late 60's and early 70's. Plaid became popular because of English influence that continued into the 80's which is where shoulder pads 'a must' of the time. I hope this info helps you in the future.
