Im so excited for this series! I would definitely love an exploration into the preppy side of the 70s, especially cause everyone talks about the rockstar style but not enough of the preppy, Brady Bunch look

I know this isn't a topic that people like, but politics played an outsized role in the styles of the 1970s. With the recent passage of Civil Rights legislation and the elimination of laws that targeted LGBT+ in both the UK and the US, the beginning of the withdrawal of troops from the Vietnam War, the rise of women's rights and the Feminist Movement (we couldn't even get our own credit cards in the US until 1974!!), the upcoming bicentennial in the United States, and of course, the baby boomers finishing college and starting their own careers, all of these prevailing sentiments contributed to the free-flowing, savvy, glam feel of the 1970s, and the prevailing fashion and styles of the decade. There's so much you can explore in this series! As a Gen X kid, I'm sadly old enough to remember a lot of this stuff. 😂 Thanks for the blast from the past (GAWD, so much stretch polyester)!

Ah, the dopamine rush I get when it comes to 70s fashion❤😅 I would love an exploration of the witchy/etheral/almost fantasy-inspired style, esp now that autumn is almost here.. Looking forward very much to the next videos! Much love🌟

W😍W! Love this video, great content and as a teen in the 70’s, I can confirm you are 100% spot on! I’m glad your channel popped up on my feed this morning! My only bit of feedback if I may, the music in the background, while low volume, distracts from the beautiful images and the pleasant tone of your voice. I subscribed anyway though 😘😘😘

Def 70s love. Nice to see the fade from late 60-early 70s. Such a vibrant and quickly changing time. Even as a kid in NY I knew a lot was going on even if I didn’t understand if. Thanks for great video!

I experienced my entire adolescence in the 70s (I turned 20 in 1980) The things I associate with that decade are platform shoes, desert boots, Gunny Sax dresses, Diane Furstenburg wrap dress (disco) high waisted bell bottoms often with contrast detail seaming & pockets (Dittos saddleback jeans), Levis (both the jeans & the jackets) Corduroys, shrunken graphic ringer tees, pot leaf belt buckles & roach clip earrings, flannel shirts, Angel's Flight slacks for boys/men, leisure suits. pooka shell necklaces, rainbow toe socks, overalls worn with only strap (often over a tube top for girls) Cut off denim shorts. You can't always go by TV shows, films & advertising since what real people wore everyday was usually different & somewhat regional. (No internet back then, we didn't know what they were wearing in NYC or London) Things started changing towards the end of the 70s & you saw 501 straight leg jeans & narrower pants replacing flares, leading the way into the 80s. In the 70s there was a big 50s revival going on. Happy Days, Shanana, Americn Graffitti. In the 80s you saw influence from the 60s. Pants got skinny & so did ties & lapels on jackets. New Wave & Punk really exploded in the states with MTV. Every decade has multiple influences & trends. What people wore who lived in the suburbs was probably different than what people who lived in metropolitan areas wore. Same for west vs east coast. And north vs south. At least in the US.

This is the best explanation of the 70s ive ever heard. I was expecting a lot of focus on the early 70s. But this explained every part of the decade and every year perfectly. Especially I like how you mentioned how similar men and womens fashion was. Its interesting

I was only a kid in the 70s . But i do remember a few things. My mum was wearing mini dresses in the early 70s. I remember in the middle later 70s the skirts and dresses went longer. I was a teenager then. Some of the girls at a school were wearing khol eye liner on their eyes. I remember i liked wedge sandles or shoes.

The big problem with Disco was that almost no one could actually dance that well. I remember well the night disco died. It was on a Friday, and nobody mourned its passing.
The 70s was a weird time, but it was fun in its own way. At least we got tee-shirts out of it all - that would be a fun video.
Thanks for this video. It brought back some laughs. Stayin' Alive, Stayin' Alive.

I enjoy your videos a lot. The early 70's were quite a bit different then the late 1970's. Disco styles were more popular in the later 1970's. (Ha, ha, not my favourite), with polyster shirts and pants for both men and women, men wearing gold chains around their neck on the disco floor. Of course, Farrah Fawcett's feathered hairstyle, because super popular. I remember girl's wearing hot pants (super short shorts) in the early to mid 70's. I cannot believe I wore a pair of hot pants when I was very young and so slender. They were pink. Of course we could not wear them to high school as they were not allowed at my high school. Just wore them sometimes in the summertime. Oh...so long ago when I was young, 5' 1" and maybe 105 pounds. 😊
By the way, did you grow up in USA?

Hello Emma, I’m a new subscriber and this is so exciting. Would you consider doing a video about Gunne Sax? Those dresses were so insanely beautiful and popular, as someone not so familiar with the label, but loving the look, I’d love to learn more. My fashion muses are Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush, and Heart’s Wilson sisters. This is going to be amazing!

Guys it's the last days. Read 2 Timothy 4:1-5 to see for yourself. If you're not in the word, you need to get into it. If you are, read more. The enemy is getting trickier and we need to strengthen our armor. God bless you all!
