Entrapta flirting with every piece of advanced technology was beautiful
The term techno-sexual comes to mind, nailed into place by the scene in "Stranded" when she says, "Darla and I are going to spend some quality time together". The way her eyes grow hooded and she wiggles her eyebrows suggestively followed up by Adora's nervous rubbing at the back of her neck sends me every time. I love Entrapta so much.
Me too but I really loved how towards the end she really tried to put her focus elsewhere because her friends needed her. In the early seasons she often let herself get completely distracted from her friends (and their wellbeing) by her obsession with tech (for example wanting to explore it instead of stopping it). However, the audience, characters and Entrapta learn that her passion isn't a problem and that it makes her a great and important character (honestly, they wouldn't have stood a chance without her in this season). But Entrapta realised that sometimes she needed to focus on one thing to help herself and her friends and she did that by using her passion for that. She didn't have to stop loving and admiring technology, it's her greatest strength after all, she just learned to get her priorities straight when it comes to danger. For example a scene where I really feel she shows her development is when she tries to capture the signal of Horde Prime's network. When she first enters the spire, she starts to get starry-eyed at the amazing tech she finds but quickly refocuses herself and gets to work to help her team.

Can we acknowledge how beautiful yet subtle Mara’s storyline was? At first she was painted as a “bad guy”. The she ra that cast etheria into darkness. But we slowly see more of the past and realize that what she did was brave. We see that she actually got through to Lighthope. And her connection to Raz and adora was beautiful.
This! Catra is by far my favorite character, but the character I would be most interested in seeing more of? Mara, hands down. I need her entire life story right now.
I think a Mara prequel would be really interesting, ik we already know how it ends and a lot of key points but we don’t know everything. The first ones, besides adora and Mara are still very mystical. I think it would be very interesting to see raz, adora and maras relationship from that angle as well. Not to mention good guy light hope
I hated Light Hope from the beginning. She’s pretty annyoing
It may be weired but I like Mara´s She Ra more than Adoras, not only from her looks but she also has a more tragic story and is yet such a courageous and considering person. I actually think I like Mara even a little bit more as a charachter
The episode where we got to see Razz switch between Mara’s timeline and Adora’s is so gorgeous. It really develops Razz and explains how she fits into the story and it’s just a glorious piece of storytelling.

Fun fact!: Nolle Stevenson said herself that Shadow Weaver wasn’t being redeemed when she died! It was so Adora and Catra could have closure! It’s like Adora said before, she doesn’t forgive Shadow Weaver, but now they can believe that maybe somewhere deep down she did care about them, or maybe she did it because it was better in the long run. And when Shadow Weaver says she’s proud of Catra I, personally at least, like to think that she means that she’s proud that Catra was able to do better than her and was able to succeed where she failed.
I honestly like to think Shadow Weaver was making a calculated move, because it's so her.
Redemption is far less so.

I particularly love the fact that they never have a "Horde Prime is evil, you should help US instead" moment with him. Wrong Hordak joins the rebellion, ultimately, because he learns on his own that what he was brought up to believe was a completely lie. He was an innocent cult follower that was saved and allowed to choose (kind of) to come back from drinking the Koolaid.

Double trouble was such an in depth character. Theyre the first canonically non binary person ive seen on screen, and they are so morally grey i dont even know wht side of the war they ended up on in the end. Also yes, even when double touble was a prisoner, EVERYONE still used their correct pronouns.

As a person on the Autism spectrum, I was so so excited about Entrapta ever since her first episode. She reminds me so much of myself when I was younger but she is so much more than a token or lesson character. She is such a complex character and allowed to have so much more depth than most other people would write for neurodivergent people like me.
And just a quick thing about her ending: her using her hair as a way to touch things she needs to and keeping people at a distance. She might have some sensitivity surrounding physical touch which a lot of people on the spectrum do. But when she sees Hordak (her friend or "friend" depending on how you read it) she hugs him with her arms and holds his hand with her own hand. It just- I just *sobs*

My husband is on the spectrum and I told him that she reminded me so much of him. What Riley said about empathy put words to how I feel about the character and how I feel about my husband. I seriously teared up a little bit when I watched the episode of not relating to people well. I LOVE that they show this and I will refer to this episode when people ask me if neurodivergents have empathy.

One thing I really appreciated that I don’t think is given as much recognition is that not all of the love was romantic. Entrapta and Hordak weren’t romantic but their intimacy was still so valid. I don’t think everyone was quite paired up but some were just platonic partners. As an asexual aromantic person it was nice for romance to not be an unnecessary subplot and other relationships taken seriously
I love those 2 with all my heart and I am intrigued by your comment, since I don't see my self as asexual but I loved those 2 and their relationship right away. It spoke to me in a very unique way and even though my emotional support lesbians feel a big whole in my heart, how those 2 play of each other is practically everything I ever wanted.
Maybe years of lack of intimacy made me feel like entrapta, plus I am equally awkward and I have trouble expressing emotion and affection as both of them.

I was privileged enough to watch the last season with my family and when it got to the kiss at the end my daughter's reaction wasn't "why are two girls kissing?!" but was instead "why are they kissing when they aren't even married?!". It was funny getting to explain that you don't need to be married in order to kiss people on the lips.
I hope other families watching this were similarly able to educate their kids about the "dangers of pre-marital affection". XD

The only reason I watched the entire series was seeing Catra and Adora confessed their love to each other. So I watched it from the beginning and binge-watched the entire series. Yes, I am a man and in my 50's, but I'm a sucker for animation and good writing associated with it. Next to Avatar: The Last Airbender, this is one of the best I've ever seen. Just wow!

It's also important to note just how hard Noelle fought for this. She literally made Catra and Adoras relationship a key plot point, one that couldn't be removed without altering the entire show, so she could get that kiss at the end. Noelle has said that at so many points the show almost wasn't as gay as it is, and we have her and the rest of the team to thank for the gay kaleidoscope we got.

After-finale headcanons:
• Spinerella and Netossa had another wedding to celebrate the victory
• Adora and the others would go to the forest to have picnics with Madam Razz
• Double Trouble FINALLY got a proper acting career
• Micah and Glimmer would just spend hours catching up and talking about random things
• Lonnie, Kyle and Regelio found a cozy place to stay and are roomates (they also kept the blue gremlin thing Hordak had)
• Entrapta and Hordak teamed up with Bow’s dads and made a research group
• Bow getting some advice from his dads cuz he wanna start an archery learning program
• DT randomly popping up in Bright Moon and giving fashiona advice when the others are attending an event
• Everyone coming over to the kingdom of snows to help Frosta with her duties

I loved how real Catra’s redemption felt. Where she was truly sorry for her actions and showed a tremendous amount of effort in redeeming herself and becoming a less toxic person.
All in the span of a few episodes of the final season, after seasons of grief and tormenting others emotionally and physically. No amount of apologies could feel real in the moment, but maybe if she actively worked towards redemption after the war ended it'd be another story.
Each episode wasn’t a single day though. A lot of it had large gaps in between each portion of the story that we saw. It’s not 100% realistic how fast they forgave her, but it was a war. They had to learn to trust her because they couldn’t afford to not trust someone on their own team. And there was a lot of tension and distrust for most of the time, even in between the good moments.
@@kil5992 i don't know how much time passes between episodes, but realistically even in this fantastical universe the harm she's done and mistrust she should've garnered from the rebellion should be equivalent of not more to when Adora first joined. Thats how actual people work, you cant just pick and choose what facet of real life to accurately portray like abuse which this series does up until S5, but then have everyone forgive someone who has been lying to themselves for seasons and stopped at nothing to play the villain to a T. I say this as someone who liked Catras character early on in the show becaue she had moments of clear doubt on whether her choices were right and was given moments to be redeemed/walk away from her negative choices for good and she always chose not to.
If i had to compare it to something it'd be like Zuko. He had multiple moments that led him to doubt if what he was doing was really what he should he doing thats best for his life. He fooled himself into thinking capturing Aang would give him the life he wanted for a family member that doesnt even really love him, when he already had that. We see this doubt and struggle numerous times until he makes the right decision and even then the main heroes dont just immediately trust him either he had to earn it, all during a war even.
Once we hit season 3 and Catra decided to not just walk away from Adora or even the Horde and double down on the portal, which almost destroyed reality she ceased being redeemable. She actively works against anyone and even herself from then on and no one should forgive her but if they had to it should've been earned. She didn't really even want to do the right thing until Glimmer basically told her to do something good? But saving Glimmer doesnt rectify her sins, its a start. A clear start to some kind of redemption, but everyone just magically trusts her and her and Adora end up together and all is fine the war is over.
@@Peasham i agree, we basically have to assume she doesn't go through any consequences. Shes a member of the best friend squad, she gets the girl she always wanted. Hell even Hordak probably womt suffer and consequences. None of that stuff really matters since they said they were sorry

I'm neurodiverse myself and so is one of my best friends. Autistic in both cases. We both really love the way Entrapta was portrayed, I for one guessed that she was intended to be neurodiverse from the first episode she appeared in. She only eats tiny food (I also have my share of weird things that bother me for no reason), she always talks rather loud (a problem I had growing up), she jumps at the opportunity to explain her obsessions with anyone who ill listen (you can get me talking for hours by bringing up computers or rockets), and you can tell that she feels lonely behind all that.
Part of me worried that Entrapta would have a character arc of learning that people are more important than technology and just learn to be different. Especially in the Beast Island scene where everyone had to fight their insecurities, but Entrapta's greatest weakness turned out to be her love of the technology there, and the thing that snapped her out of it was the revelation that there was a First Ones ship landed on the coast, but then at the same time all the "we care about you" stuff that Bow said didn't go unappreciated. It goes the direction of this being who she is while also showing glimpses of her real emotions and insecurities.
Entrapta is by far my favorite neurodiverse representation in fiction that I've ever seen.
Futaba and youske from persona 5 are also really great neurodivervegent representation i think.
While only futaba is officially canon as being autistic, youske is also very much seen as probably on the spectrum.
Anyone watch the whole season in a day or was it just me?
The writing in this season was so good and the ending was so satisfying and most of the shows I watch don't leave me so content and it was so refreshing to watch a show with a realistic ending.

At first I didn’t believe they would become a thing, I mean, there was just to much anger and hurt between them. But boy, after watching season 5, I shipped them so hard. I literally shrieked when Catra confessed her feelings. Even though it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be, I’m very satisfied with the ending.

The best kind of villain is the one that believes that what they’re doing is what’s best. Prime was a fine example of that very ideal and watching him work was truly terrifying.

One thing I noticed right off the bat was that they put Glimmer and Spinnerella (the two curvy/bigger/plus size female characters) in these unitard typed outfits and that made me so happy because the team didn't think "oh these characters are not skinny so we have to avoid certain clothes." If anything they went with clothes that real plus size/curvy women would be told to stay away from
Yes, I know it’s wonderful! Also why were people calling Glimmer fat? She has nearly the same waistline as Adora, she’s just stocky. Some guys just can’t seem to comprehend that not all women can be 5’8 with a 24 inch waistline.
It made me fell amazing in soo many ways! Im always hearing from people that i should cover up, wear looser clothes as if to hide the fact that im not skinny... it hurts a lot, but shera made me feel valid... that i could wear what makes me happy and express myself through my clothes!

That was the most amazing thing ever, and I kept screaming before, during, and after! Five seasons! FIVE SEASONS! But it was worth all of it! They're canon, they're beautiful, they're lesbians, and they're in love!!!!!

The best show I've watched to date. I cannot believe the amount of representation, effort, and skill that went into this show. As someone who's part of the LGBTQ community, a show like this makes me feel so warm inside. You really said it: the fact that everything is so natural just makes me so happy, and I can't imagine how amazing this will be for young queer people watching it. I'm so happy they're able to have this healthy form of representation in mainstream media. It just--it's amazing and I'm crying and this was such a great video;;; good job, you really nailed it!

Catra's story is so important to me because while I've never been as outwardly destructive as her, I've found it very hard to take the necessary steps to better myself and have missed many opportunities for growth because of that. The fact that Catra did the same, and was still able to save herself, is a very hopeful message.

Ok but the FOREHEAD KISS BETWEEEN BOW AND GLIMMER WAS SO PURE! Like I'm so grateful that even though they're shown as end game by the flashforward, they are shown so platonically, even if they are in love. It's so nice for the straight couples to be the not as obvious couple for once.

Looking back, the little head kiss seemed almost like the kind of gesture from an already established couple. As I saw it, the two of them were basically always "together," they just never out right said it. Romantic, platonic, whatever. They were connected in a way that really goes beyond any kind of word. They mean the absolute world to one another, and they don't ever want to be without each other. That's all the more there is to it, and really all there needs to be.

I wanted to comment on the scene about Shadow Weaver dying. Like most of the audience, I didn’t like Shadow Weaver because of the abusive things she did to Catra and Adora. But the scene where she dies and Catra *cries anyways* is something that I almost felt that I needed to see. My relationship with my parents is fine, but one of them tends to display some verbal abuse signs and has been the source of some anxiety in my life. They’re not like Shadow Weaver, they don’t put me down intentionally and they actually are working hard on bettering themselves. But during the time when things hit its peak with this parent, I was so confused as to how I could dislike everything they were doing and yet still hold love and affection for them.
Catra crying when her abusive parental figure died made me realize that no matter what, you’ll almost always feel something for the people you raised you, abusive or not, and that’s okay. I can’t speak for everyone of course and my situation is not as extreme as Catra’s. In fact, I really love my parent and things have really changed for the better in the past couple of years. But the scene still meant a lot to me
One of the most underrated aspects of the final season, and the series, for me was how Entrapta's relationship with Hordak played out. I love that Entrapta's the only person she could really form a significant friendship with was the primary antagonist of the show for 4/5 seasons, that it was only possible because of her special interest in tech(something that Hordak shares), and that it ended up being a key element to the victory over Horde Prime.
Also, Wrong Hordak is amazing and adorable.

Okay, first of all, She Ra just shouted gay rights and I have all the respect for it. Second, I love the shows that include lesbian or gay background couples. It would be nicer to see more of a focus but baby steps. BUT, we actually had a show whose main focus was the love between two girls and ended with the softest confession ever. I love that so much. The only other show I can think of doing that is RWBY, but it’s in that mid season 5 Catradora stage where they are flirting and talking and you are like, “JUST KISS ALREADY!” Thirdly, I love the action, I love the story developments, I love the character developments, but I will watch this season over and over again just for all the soft looks and flirty lines Catra and Adora share with each other. Also, Catra holding her anger back because she wants to improve and be better for Adora made me laugh and cry all at once.

I think the funniest moment this season was Catra’s “A town that hates princesses, should I buy property here?” And then everyone dead silent giving her the death stare and her retracting and going “...is what I would have said before joining you guys, go team!” The definition of “too soon” lol. But fr this show means so much to me. I’ve been watching it since it came out and been rooting for catradora all through the series and never giving up on the ship no matter how hopeless it felt for a bit. I see myself in so many of the characters. Catra who’s been abused and abandoned by the people she loves so she doesn’t know how to cope and feels worthless and pushes people away. Scorpia who pinned after someone who mistreats her. Perfuma who’s too easy on her friends. And most importantly Entrapta because I’m Autistic and not good with people and too invested in my special interests often being misunderstood and perceived as if I don’t care about other people (Thank you so much for mentioning that by the way it means a whole lot that people recognize that)

That moment actually hit kinda close to home for me, because there was a time a few years ago when I went through some pretty serious change and altered almost all of my opinions about everything (long story). There were a few moments shortly after that where I'd make a joke and then think "Oh yeah, I don't believe any of that anymore..."

My favorite thing is that Entrapta was the one who ended up, during the climax, telling horde prime in his throne room why he is wrong (instead of Adora or someone else) and Bow got to do the tech stuff that Entrapta would normally do. I think it showed how much Entrapta has grown as a communicator, and allowed bow to be the tech guy he always wants to be.
I kinda feel that until Horde Prime, Catra never really saw any true danger to Adora. Catra would win, Adora would lose, but she was never confronted with what losing would mean. Horde Prime wasn't a hands-off Hordak who let her run the show; he'd actually kill Adora without a doubt and without any possibility for Catra to explain it away.
erm what about that time Catra pushed Adora off the cliff at the first one ruin? I love Catradora, but really it always puzzles me why Catra did that (she does love her right, but she is willing to just kill her, is it a yandere tendency I'm sensing there?). That was literally the only action from Catra that will have directly led to Adora's death and is way more irreversible than any of her other actions throughout the series (had it not been for the plot armor of course). The rest that Catra did I can understand (even the portal thingy because at least they will die together), but just this one... really... why...
She kinda did try to kill Adora a couple times though. Remember when Adora was hanging off a cliff and Catra cut the string of goo she was hanging onto? Yeah...

Then you’ll love Seladon from Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Hers is much more subtle and we’re only in the first season. Also, a lot of people in the fandom hate her but her arc is definitely there, and she has a lot of parallels with both Catra and Zuko. Major parental issues with her, even if it’s not outright said. Actually, Seladon, Tavra, and Brea all deal with their mother’s neglect, it’s just that Seladon, as the oldest and the heir to the Gelfling throne, it hits the hardest for her.

I think my favorite part is how Catra's redemption arc has two main parts. Many shows would just have one event and it's just "okay, they're a 'good guy' now." But Catra's crippling lack of self-worth wasn't fixed by just "doing that one good thing in her life", she had to not only help others, but finally, finally accept help *from* others. That she both *needed* and *deserved* that as a person. It's why Perfuma's speech about "it's hard to keep your heart open" still sticks with me.

As a neurodivergant lesbian that’s exactly how I interpreted entrapta and honestly I’m really ok with them not putting a label on it, a lot of discrimination against neurodivergent people is based on how they interpret how we act rather than just hating the label. A lot of people will say they support us but then act so bigoted when we act in the way we need to based on something out of our control.

Still it pisses me off when someone uses a mental disorder like autism as a scapegoat for their failure in moderating behavior or learning to behave and deal with certain circumstances. Especially when you hear a karen saying her son can't behave because of his autism really gets to me, like you blame your failed parenting on a disorder. My experience with autism is mainly not getting social cues, not having a natural knack for social interaction or having trouble quantifying the relation between two people without it being stated. None of this impedes the ability to learn how to act in situations and it already is a parents job to teach behavior and nothing is as detrimental to a child as letting childish behavior go uncorrected as it would certainly be hard to unlearn those quirks later in life.

I felt that. And funnily enough I had a disagreement with a friend the next day after I finished the series and he was complaining on how he cannot talk to me about his love life and I was like. Duh why are you an asshole. You know that if I am tired or even just a bit drunk I cannot even register irony fast enough. I don't get his stuff. However he is my friend and he knows I care about him it is just that I can only process it a way that doesn't necessarily cover him.
I felt every scene with entrapta. She is my favorite character ever. Me trying being a scientist as well, felt amazing to watch her. Getting lost in her thoughts losing track of time and getting excited for her craft. Every time she was on screen I was happy.
Finally she showed growth. She realised her shortcomings and when ppl don't understand her so she started saying it to their face so it is clear. I felt that
Neurodivergent guy here. I thought Entrapta's part about "I really liked you guys the whole time" is a huge disservice to the character. Instead of "sorry, I mistook you for the enemy for these reasons and that's why I tried to commit murder, tech makes me lose focus, pls forgive" which I think makes sense we got "I'm aware of your feelings, and to show you mine I sent a bunch of murder bots, trust me, I TOTALLY know how to do an empathy." Like, empathy 101 is "boy it would suck if someone hurt me, I should probably NOT do that" right? How do you miss that when you say you've downloaded empathy.exe? It just makes her a moron. Sure, I know I'm liable to act against my own self interest and make this difficult for those around me to understand, but people's lives were at stake and she had LITERALLY no reason to do what she did.
I'm a straight guy and this show will be in my heart for years to come. I see people how just genuinely love each other men, women, cats and clones for once you dont have to give every thing to everyone you are worth more then you can give I need to hear and see that I'm happy that we all can learn something from this bless you and this show (not try to preach just wanted to say it )🤗
Exact same thing for me! I also really like how the positive straight male characters (Bow and Micah, mainly) are sensitive and talk about their feelings. Bow is even the "heart" of the main group, a role that's usually given to a female character in standard male-oriented media.

One important facet of Catra's arc that wasn't mentioned here was her big mistake - the thing she thought was true until she (finally) learned it wasn't: the idea that love is exclusive. Throughout the series, right up to _Save the Cat_ the argument between Adora and Catra has been the same one: "come with me" against "stay with me". Adora discovers that there are people who need her, and are happy to be friends with her, and tries to share that friendship with her oldest friend. Meanwhile, Catra sees that Adora has new friends, and immediately concludes that she, Catra, isn't enough for Adora - the unstated idea being that if Adora "really" loved Catra they wouldn't need any other friends.
It's only when Catra accepts that Adora having her new friends doesn't mean that Adora no longer loves Catra enough to risk her own life to save her that she finally gives up on it being a choice between her and them.
I saw Scorpia in her backless dress and I just picked up the weights and started lifting. Serious goals.

Yeah! I just wish they gave Spinerella and Netossa more screen time in the other seasons. I feel like we could have had a much bigger emotional payoff when Spinerella got chipped/rescued.

I LOVED everything you pointed out, but also can we talk more about Netossa and Spinerella? Like I was SCREAMING every single time in my head when Netossa said 'my wife' because it was so therapeutic, and I loved how they gave them so much space and so much love and that scene where Netossa just goes wild from exhaustion and pulls out her books w how the whole thing was going to go and how she'll show it to Spinny next time 'shE SAYS IT'S MY TURN TO CLEAN', like I love love love the attention they gave them.
I also have to point out how much I loved the fact that even when she was chipped, Mermista was like *groans* 'why do you *have* to be like this' when he pulls his shenanigans to distract her.
Also, Entrapdak. I was NOT expecting to ever ship them, but I just jumped aboard that train and held on like crazy.
Also, Entrapta. As I watched it I thought, 'wait, could she be nd like me?'. I was so cautious to believe, thinking I might be desperately projecting, but then you and other people were just like 'yeah i see it too' and it gives me life. I relate to 'i feel but i don't really know how to show it to you'. Also, when she doesn't get the sarcastic remark.
Then there is Double Trouble. I mean, THEIR VOICE. It's MARVELOUS. When i found out it was voiced by a non-binary person, I was ecstatic. I love their personality and that even thought they are arguably the most chaotic on the whole show, you *cannot* hate them. Like something about their whole manerism, their behaviour, tone of voice, pulls you in. Not to mention they actually taught my brother of the existence of non-binary people, though he still can't pronounce it quite right.
And the biggest thing, WLW WLW WLW WLW WLW WLW GAAAAAAAY I MEAN WE ACTUALLY GOT CANON QUEER PEOPLE AND QUEER RELATIONSHIPS IN A MAINSTREAM KIDS SHOW OKAY I HAVE SO MANY EMOTIONS ABOUT THIS I *CANNOT* CALM DOWN I HAVE BEEN OBSESSING OVER THIS ENDING FOR SO LONG THE WHOLE S5 HAS BEEN LIKE NICE, COLD HERB MIX ON ALL OUR SUFFERING OF NOT HAVING REPRESENTATION. From Netossa holding something over her wife, to Entrapdak coming out of nowhere and yet fitting, to Entrapta and Double Trouble representing their respective worlds with flying colors, it's all masterful. Also, you're all-caps rant was basically what was going though my mind as well seeing Catra and Adora kiss at the end!
The way I bawled my eyes out when they kissed. This is the first show where I see two women living together happily ever after. I felt so supported and recognized I just wish I had seen this when I was starting to question myself 4 years ago. This show and its marvelous representation will forever stick with me
Spineralla and Netossa were soooooo amazing in this season! When I heard “my wife” I actually went “aww” out loud. Seeing representation for the first time on screen is so heart warming, especially when it’s done right.
As far as Shadow Weaver's sacrifice, as someone who came from an abusive family with a mother who had many traits in common with Shadow Weaver, this is how I see that moment.
As an abusive person, Shadow Weaver saw the needs of those in her care as a vehicle to have her own needs met. She saw Micah's need to learn and grow, and used them to pursue her own ambitions. She fostered and encouraged Adora and Catra's view of their self-worth as connected to what they could do for others. She praised Adora's accomplishments while belittling Catra's to enforce the hierarchy between them.
Even when she switched sides, she continued to do the same thing. She used Glimmer's desperate need to live up to her own imposed ideals about what a Queen should be, fueling her nascent need for power. At some point, however, she did something very unusual; She developed a glimmer of self-awareness of it. When Adora returns, and Shadow Weaver slips back into her old patterns with the two, you can see her pause every now and then. She can see what Adora needs, sees that Catra fills that need. She tries to wedge herself in between, take that place, but it doesn't work. She is aware that something is very wrong with how she is relating to people, but she can't stop, can't change, can't be anything other than what she is. The abusiveness is rooted in who she is and has always been.
As an abused child, the one thing I always, desperately craved and never got, was for my parent to be proud of me. Not just the weaponized 'I'm proud of you' they trotted out whenever I did what they wanted, submitted to their will, ground myself down to fit into slot they wanted me to fit into. But honestly proud of me. Of who I was, without needing or wanting anything from me. And for me to believe it.
Somehow, impossibly, Shadow Weaver realized this, right at the end. Maybe she was trying to go out as a martyr. Maybe she genuinely wanted to give Catra the push to be a better person than she was. But somehow she realized that this was all Catra ever wanted from her. So she gave it to her. She stepped away from Adora, pushed Catra into the spot that was meant for her, and told her poor, scapegoated child the one thing she had always needed to hear. That's why she said 'You're welcome'.
It feels strange because... it NEVER happens this way. But like Glimmer's apology, this is absolutely what we wish WOULD. Not the saccharine, artificial reconciliation that society insists is the way to go, the realization that the 'loved us all along', and somehow just didn't REALIZE they were hurting us. Not the tearful, wailing apology and begging for forgiveness we're not ready or able to give. Just a person who had hurt us recognizing what they had done, even just a little, and stepping out of our lives, and even just for a moment understanding what it was we needed all along, even if it was something they could never give us.
We wanted Shadow Weaver gone because she was toxic. We knew she was toxic, and nothing would make her better. She would have to be a completely different person. We don't mourn her death because... honestly, it was a long time coming, and the world is better for it. What is so devastating about it is knowing that, for just one brief moment, she understood that and accepted it.

I have to think there was a bit of "In Vino Veritas" there, too. Because there is NO denying that Shadow Weaver was drunk when all this finally happened. Loosened inhibitions, a chance to look at herself outside of the echo-chambers of society and see herself for the horrible person she is, with nobody else around to blame it on.

This show is a master class on how to develop characters. I can’t remember seeing a show where every character has growth
This show is something incredibly special all right.
I love the moment mermista said “I burned a boat to see what will happen” and sea hawk made her blush INTENSELY.
Something more about the Catra redemption: at first she actually tried to do the same thing she's done before with Horde Prime. She tried to manipulate him to gain his favor, but Prime shuts her down super quick. Only then does she start to make the right decisions. Even though her saving Glimmer is a selfless act, her first push to doing it is actually kind of selfish because what else is she going to do? It helps make her change very understandable.
The writing of this show was so damn good and the final season has cemented it as one of my favorite shows I've ever seen (and I'm a cishet guy so it's not just because of all the gay).

I still find it justified. At least sticking to the Horde was all that Catra had ever done in her life. And it felt she was much less invested in it.
After they reached Etheria she could have run away to do whatever. She even started to do this in one of the last episodes. But by then a lot changed.
I have to say, as someone on the spectrum myself, I definitely felt Entrapta had some Big Autistic Energy going for her this season and I'm glad I wasn't the only one getting that vibe.
Her line, "You're... mad at me?" was the kind of emotional obliviousness I know I've experienced a lot. That other characters didn't know she did care about them because she didn't actually say so (or know how to say so) certainly made me feel seen.
She-Ra Season 5 (In an Oprah voice): You get a redemption arc! And you get a redemption arc! EVERYBODY GETS REDEMPTION ARCS!!
(Also, if you got through this season without even considering shipping Scorpia and Perfuma, then why are you even watching the show?)

This was a beautiful analysis of the most amazing show I've ever watched. I hadn't even thought about how there was no coming out scenes because it's normal to be queer on Etheria. And I was pleasantly surprised by all the funny moments that were ACTUALLY FUNNY and didn't take away from the seriousness of the show. Shera has been such an emotional journey for me and I'm so glad I got to watch it!

I do like the relationship between Catra and Adora way more then Korra and Asami; nothing against them but for me it felt like "Hey, we're together now." In She-ra, you can tell that Catra is more hurt by Adora leaving her for people she just met and not the Horde while Adora takes every chance she can to try and bring Catra to her side or flat out save her (until Catra almost destroys the world). This clearly shows any time the two are together outside of Horde/Rebellion battles. It was only in Season 5 that Catra got over herself and was finally able to admit that she loved Adora, which was awesome. Lastly Catra sitting down in Adora's lap while trying concentrate was the best scene ever.
The best part of that scene was Catra purring and flipping her tail in Adora's face. It's such an accurate representation of a loving cat.
Guys, do you still remember when She-ra was about to throw a tank at Scorpia and then Perfuma said "We don't throw tanks at our friends." And then when Scorpia was about to throw the tank at them She-ra was like "So she gets to throw tanks at us?" I think that was really funny 🤣
