I need to try to do my own concrete pour. How bad can it be? I can just break it up if it sucks.

You need to use base material. 6 pieces of rebar tied to existing slap won’t cut in the long run.

I was thinking that he needed to add a base, but I don't have much experience with concrete to know when it's needed.

Breaking unreinforced concrete sidewalks or thin pads - consider feathers and irons from the stone industry (which are simple and efficient once you drill the hole) or a Marshalltown Monster Pry Bar (form wrecking bar) to pry one end up just an inch or two before striking with the sledgehammer. Great project and video! Love your channel

Curious why you didn't add some rebar dowels into the 1st pour you did to tie into the 2nd pour the next day? You could end up with a tripping hazzard if one section settles or if your ground freezes. Looked a little inconsistent w/ the amount of water you added to each bag which can effect the strength but overall for a small sidewalk it should be ok.

Wow great! Question, you mixed 1 80 lb bag at a time? Did you follow the directions for the amount of water, or do you think you added extra? Did you add anything to get the aggregate? I want to do this as my next project. Very helpful video!

Why exposed aggregate? Was that just the look you were going for?
I just always floated and brushed to improve traction.

Looks like they were trying to match the existing as much as possible.

Just a few rebar pieces from side isn't enough. I would reinforce all of the cement with a metal gate mesh or more repair lifted as you pour.

I’m assuming no walkway was there because of getting access to the septic system if tank needs replacing

Nice job,why you didn't put rebars in it?

Rebar is for strength. No vehicles are driving over that. The reason he used it on the old concrete so it didn’t sink. Also you can use wire mesh for strength if you’re doing a driveway. Sidewalk doesn’t need it.

    No rebar in the slab?

Too thin of a pour will break no gravel under it neither

Did you use 2x4 or 2x3 for the forms?

Очень хорошо, но я б использовал ещё кромкователь-edger. Тем более что купить его в США не проблема в отличае от России)

The concrete is so thin and there are no steel bars. It will definitely break soon.
