    Very nice build. I honestly think that Toyota/Lexus should offer a dual solid axle platform that we could play with, perhaps the next FJ Cruiser. I would invest.

    • @lasersailor0080

      Rick Rodriguez that’s what the 79 series is. It’s not sold in North America.

    • @MrNismopro
      @MrNismopro 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lasersailor0080 , those are awesome. That would be a great platform to sell here in the states. Seeming that we live in an era where vehicles need an aesthetically pleasing look, they could put a modernized body to it. Me personally, I like the 79 as is. But I think if that platform joined the US a lot of Jeep fanatics would jump. I was once sucked into the whole "Jeep Thing" until I started having issues with FCA products. I own a TRD Off Road Taco now. Also, one last point to bring up. Toyota is partnered with (practically own) Hino. That would be another great addition to the product line. Man, I'm just day dreaming at this point...🤣

    • @lasersailor0080
      @lasersailor0080 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rick Rodriguez I would love to have a left hand drive 79 series just as they are. Yeah Toyota’s are wayyy more reliable than FCA products, my dads 2003 5.9 cummins has had so many issues while both of the first gen sequoias I have had have been flawless

    • @lasersailor0080

    really cool that he kept the AHC and KDSS intact.

    • @jat946
      @jat946 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The system in the LX isn't KDSS. Is AHC and AVS only, which is a much more advanced system than the KDSS.

    • @PatrickRich
      @PatrickRich 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jat946 i wasnt sure if the lx got kdss but i wouldn't call it Superior, just different. closer to hbmc from Nissan but with ride height and damping adjustment

    • @jat946
      @jat946 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@PatrickRich it is superior in every way. It does what KDSS does and much more. One can think of KDSS as a passive system and AHC with AVS as an active system. KDSS basically allows great articulation offroading while still maintaining composure on road. The system in the LX does the same plus Lift on demand, damping control, speed heigh control etc. There are about 18 pages from Lexus documenting all that the system does. I believe it is a very underrated system and Lexus missed an opportunity by not advertising as much.

    • @PatrickRich
      @PatrickRich 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jat946 I see where we are in disagreement: Im saying KDSS isn't an inferior articulation aid, not that KDSS performs all the same functions of the AHC system. AHC/AVS is a cross linked hydraulic damper with damping control and height control. similar to Nissan HBMC, which does aid articulation. KDSS is meant specifically to work on roll stiffness alone and in my opinion is the better system for articulation benefits. I like having adjustable dampers, but if you are talking about pure performance outside of ride height and comfort, I think KDSS is on pair if not better than the lexus system. Its a good system though.

    • @jat946
      @jat946 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PatrickRich well that's the thing, the system in the LX controls roll stiffness as well. it also controls dive in. As I mentioned, the system does everything the KDSS system does and much more while maintaining close to the same RTI numbers.

    • @dougfleenor9665
      @dougfleenor9665 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tundra is a little wider platform than the Cruiser/LX570, so swapping the lower control arms with Tundras allow you to lift a little higher and keep the wheels pushed out a little wider so you get better clearance on bigger tires. It is an "affordable" lift for a Land Cruiser/LX570. Ih8mud website contains more information about this type of lift.

I might just turn a Mini in to the best off-roader on 40's, by sticking a Mini body on top of a SWB Jeep Rubicon. Oh, and all of those hodge-podge welds on the rear axle??!!! "Weld another bit on, yeah. Here, weld another bit across there for strength, weld another bit in......." Very cool rig and not hating but not sure why he didn't just have Slee do a SAS on it. Sounds almost like he was thinking the same thing at the end of the video.

      Joseph Stronko he said he liked the factory adjustable suspension and didn’t want to fight it. Makes sense he would beef up the IFS and keep it

      As of right now Slee is not doing SAS on LX's and I don't think they have done one on any 200. When the 2016 + gets a little cheaper I am planning on trying a SAS on one. I built this one to see if it could be done and to get a better idea what it would take to do a SAS

      Greg, can you help me understand how you lifted this beast and kept the factory alive? I have an 2011. And do not want to delete anything factory. Thanks!

    Love this , but I don't see the need for the 37s.. I think 35s would have been perfect especially with the lift that's on this.

    Greg , I,m not sure how often you check this video but I will ask you anyway. If anyone might know the answer to my question I figure it would be you. I was recently told how to put my LX570 into the highest position so it can stay in high position all the time. Do you know if it’s possible to change the shocks to long travel with the extended reservoirs and are adjustable? Or would you recommend for someone that wanted to do this just keep the original shocks and install a switch so the mod could be used on the fly. I really would rather do what you have done but my funds are very limited because of health issues. Getting old really sucks. I have up graded everything but the shocks but was told the shocks wouldn’t,t be possible on the day I dropped of my rig to the shop that did the work. Thank for any comments you might suggest. Steve M .

      So the shock are not really shocks they are more like hydraulic rams. They don't make an after market long travel version for the LX570 that i know of. it is the one down side of the LX, some guys are deleting the AHC system and using LC shocks instead.

    So, I got a question, with that much mods, is it still a lexus or tundra? except the interior and engine.

    • @Jay-me7gw
      @Jay-me7gw 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Both. The shocks and springs and everything are still the LX570 AHC system, which is amazing TBH. All they did was bolt in OE Tundra control arms and CV axle to widen the track.
      Powertrain is generally the same as the tundra from the factory. 5.7L, transmission and front/rear differentials are shared with the Tundra.
