Justin and Amanda are my sister and brother in law. Not only are these shoes top quality in every way, but if you’re considering purchasing a pair, you can also be sure the people making them are top tier. Both Justin and Amanda are two of the most genuine, kind, and overall wonderful people I’ve met. They love their family and work extremely hard every day on their business which I have watched from day one. I’m proud to know them and so proud of what they’ve created!

More about the comfort to me. I had some blazers a couple years ago. They were a special version from Nike in a brown leather. Loved the look of them, but just normal walking caused so much pain in my feet, knees, etc. They’re basically a barefoot shoe and you have to walk differently in them. If I’m going with a casual sneaker, I would prefer something AF1-like or new balance 990-like where there is a ton of foam/rubber/air unit, to cushion walking around in them.

Well, in my opinion while the opie's have a better quality and craftsmanship, the blazer isn't the blazer without the swoosh, and while that might sound dumb at first, without the most iconic part of the shoe, you essentially have a converse that's a little off. So i guess the best of both worlds would be to sew the swoosh on the opie's, but i get that might seem heretic because of the quality of leather. That's just my opinion tough

Nike could manufacture high quality shoes at low quantities, they could just buy out Opie Way and have them specially manufacture their shoes for high quality. But that's not their shtick. I'd also argue that Nike has damaged their reputation so severely that the people who buy their most expensive shoes do not buy them because of quality, but for image. In which case Nike would have a hard time trying to market quality of shoes, because their consumer base does not buy their shoes for high quality.

The problem of a “real Ollie patch” on a 500 shoes is the fact that real skateboarding is extremely hard on footwear and a 490 shoe might blow out in a similar time frame as a 90 shoe depending on how hard the skater is going. Skateboarding is a sport that benefits from an economy of scale as skate shoes are a disposable item and cost plays a huge factor in an item you are going to take, essentially, many many scrapes on high grit sandpaper and plywood (sometimes even fiberglass or carbon fiber). But from a style perspective of course it would be nice. I’d just never seriously skate 500 shoes so I don’t care whether or not it’s got an Ollie patch. The heavy rubbers and plastics in core skate brand shoes have found ways to last as long without increasing price

Nike could make these if they wanted. Allen Edmonds sources very similar sneakers (Ace High Top) from Vietnam using about the same grade of materials. They list for $295 but they're usually on sale.

Emerica's pillar or Fallen's the Fiend II both have ollie protection but are more of a mid and a bit bulkier than a blazer

Well, it's a basketball shoe that isn't going to be worn as a basketball shoe, so I don't think it needs to hew to the cushiony interior insole elements of a basketball shoe as tightly. I think a nice 3-4mm thick vegtan insole, on top of the poron, would be preferred. I'm really impressed with the shoe! It's not my bag, but it pops. Nice.

It looks like Thursday has a newish style out called the Hero. Now I may be mistaken, but it looks a little like it’s their take on the classic Dr. Martens silhouette. I, and I suspect many of us, would love to see your take on it. Better than Docs? Better than Solovair? Do you think I’m wrong in seeing the similarities?

Has anyone been through a resoling for shoes like these? I'm always a bit confused by the inclusion of such top-tier upper materials if the soles won't even last much longer than a regular sneaker. Like, even with the basic Converse All-Stars I wear through the soles before the uppers.

I am sure it is not worth the price you would pay for resole.

I generally don't like blazer's but i'd consider getting a pair of these.

You should cut open a pair of rick owens ramones or even the geobaskets. I have been wondering if those are worth getting for a while now lol.

Is the brand "wolf and beard " on your radar yet? They are wedge heel boots and shoe's.
They are on etsy and out of Ukraine. Keep of the good work fellas👊.

Hey can you test a golf glove? I’d like to know about what that leather is and how they get their texture and grippy soft feel I love my red rooster glove and I want that material as an interior of a shoe 😂

Beautiful shoes. You didn't mention aesthetics, but they are far-and-away better looking than most shoes of that type. Pairing those with slacks, a blazer and a t-shirt would be a fantastic look. They could also work with nice shorts and a casual linen button-up.
I applaud Opie for not taking shortcuts and delivering an alternative to mass produced Blazers. Makes me wish that I would have bought a pair of those instead of the 7 pairs of Adidas sitting in my closet. I do love my Adidas collection, but would be much prouder to wear Opies and support small business.
And let's face it, I'm in my 50's and rarely wear out shoes anymore, so the value per wear isn't that big of a factor.
I see some Opie shoes in my future.

I understand the argument, but these cost the same as a pair of Nicks Urban Loggers. Different philosophy of use obviously, but worth mentioning perhaps?

aesthetically, if they use wider last and longer ankle upper so it looks broad at the bottom and tight at the ankle area, it will be looking way nicer. I love their thin sock liners but it is not enough. many people mind to wear nike blazer, since their ankle looking fatter than the actual.
