May I also add, older persons (like me) who may want a second career…like in my case nursing is a second career. I went to school in my 50s, my child is grown, No more desire to party all night and be hungover, etc…But I know you’ll get to us old mares next week…😭😭😭

I love this perspective , I’m 27 but nursing is also my second career. I was in the Coast Guard for 4 years then my husband and I decided to have my daughter. Being a CNA gave me the opportunity to work part time , and be able to take care of my daughter during the day while my husband worked and we switched off because I worked 5pm to 7am. Now I’m in nursing school and I only work PRN. If I could change things I would have did all my prerequisites while in the military instead of waiting until I got out. My mom is in her 50’s and now a empty nester and I keep telling her to go to nursing school lol

I totally agree! I’m an 38 year old nurse and this is my second career . In addition, my first year as a nurse . This is a great opportunity for younger people. They have the patience, stamina, and youth to stay to conduct their job.

Yeah you can do free CNA programs usually in high school and then immediately enroll into a cna to LPN program in a local community college after high school.

Hey hey nurse over here not younger. But I used to tell my young nurses y’all got the world in your hand and you don’t even know it.
If I was 21 a nurse, pretty, young, energetic,no children etc and had Miney and a career no one couldn’t tell me nothing. I saw my sister be a nurse at 21. And she was doing it and that made me want to finally get my nursing degree. I was hard headed and it took me sometime.
I finally became a muse but the pretty girl thing is real. These woman try to belittle me,bully me,even the younger nurses would act funny toward me. Now I know my beauty threatens many of them, I feel sad for them. But now I know what’s up. And I have thicker skin now and will defend myself right away.
Now I am married, I work prn or part time and we travel and do what we want. I don’t have to work full time if I don’t want to. We don’t have children yet. It’s just me,my husband and the puppy. We have so much more to look forward to. Nursing can be messy but it has truly enriched my life. I now have confidence to do anything I want. If I could survive nursing school and being a nurse. I feel like I can make anything happen.
I waited and pursed my eduction in my twenties,my parents let me live with them while I was in nursing school.

This is me. I've worked days evenings and nights. I left my home state and came to Ohio for a one year program. I have seen women with families do the same though. It is easier to move around when childfree.

Had my daughter went to MA school a year later , and currently enrolling LPN program. I’m 28 btw with a support boyfriend, would go the RN route but too competitive to get in , so working on prerequisites rn do LPN then bridge to RN
