*"Thrax's name comes from 'Anthrax', though Thrax cannot be likened to any real-life virus. However, the symptoms resemble an exceptionally violent version of Scarlet Fever or hyperpyrexia."*

  • @user-dr2yz8um3d

Osmosis Jones officially turns 20 today!!!
I remember my family and I saw it together and my mom rented it in California in hotel room
Shame it bombed at the box office but still one of my favorite summer flicks
Love the voice actors; Chris Rock, Brandy, David Hyde Pierce, William Shatner, and Laurence Fishburne
I spent forever trying to find the soundtrack, it was actually my first introduction to Craig David
Nostalgia Critic thought it was okay; doesn't know if it wants to be a legitimately clever adult film or a giggle fest for two-year-olds
There are some clever ideas in this; the designs are great, the environment itself is pretty cool, and sometimes, even some of the puns are kind of clever
The animation as well is so gorgeous to look at, it’s just so colorful and flowing
But the story is every boring buddy cop flick, the live-action stuff is awkwardly done, and a lot of the humor just isn’t that funny
The live action scenes are lethargic but the animated portions are amazing
Funny they ended up making a tv show
The movie holds a lot of relevance today teaching kids to be clean and eat the right way, good way to teach them how a virus works

I went on a Voodoo tour around the French Quarter a few years ago and witnessed an annoying little girl around the age of 7-9 play in a greasy puddle near bourbon street. All the native Louisianans (this includes myself) gasped and gagged at the sight of this shit because we all know better. Her parents were embarrassed as hell because the guide stopped the tour and guided the group to the nearest bar so the little girl could wash her hands.

It’s an ok film, but definitely a must watch for kids. Besides the nasty stuff that the film contains, it is important for the kids to learn and be educated about the corona virus. 💯

Man, I miss (good) old KidsWB (quite a lot actually).
Not to mention handdrawn animation and characters that aren't left as perfect shapes or like they were animated in Flash (no offense to Strong Bad lol).

I loved it as a kid, but seeing it as an adult, the movie is mediocre and gross. The live-action parts were okay, cartoon parts were better, but still an average buddycop movie. It's no wonder if didn't do well at the box office. But Thrax is badass.

I remember having this film on vhs when I was a kid that and I remember sometimes they would show it in middle school. You know maybe this film could of work without the human stuff and have be an it animated film that's just set inside the human body cause I find the stuff inside the body to be more interesting really or have the human stuff animated too. Speaking of the human body Japan not to long a go had an anime come out that's called 'Cells at Work!
' that deals with the human body.

I first saw this film while on a ferry ride to Ireland back in 2008. On the way back it was 101 Dalmatians. I didn't see the title though & I kept figuring out what Osmosis Jones was until I finally found it in 2016.

Yeah, the biggest detriment to this movie was the directors. The concept was solid as hell, but it needed to stick to it.

I haven't seen the film. I am assuming that the animation parts of the film are an abstraction. Abstraction is where a non-literal storytelling device is being used to explain something going on. An example of this is musicals. People are not actually breaking into song and dance within the context of the story. Rather the musical numbers are being used to convey the motivations and emotions of the main characters.
Another example is any video game that has turn-based combat. Combatants are not standing waiting for their turn. This is just how the game communicates combat.
In the context of Osmosis Jones, I'm assuming that the animation is an abstraction to explain something very complex. In the context of the story, the insides of Bill Murray's body are not actually in animation. That said, I might be wrong. The animated sections of the story might be intended to be literal.
