I just wanted to let Rae know that she is not alone in her love of Cats Don't Dance, and thank her for letting me know that I'm not the only person who's seen it. It was one of my absolute favorites as a kid, and I actually still own it on DVD.
The teacher actually made us watch this movie in Biology. I was super surprised they got Chris Rock and Bill Murray in it, and that Chris Rock was actually in this BEFORE Madagascar. Definitely agree on the whole COVID thing. If Bill Murray didn’t look that young in it, I would have assumed it was intended as a satire of the whole thing.
I sorta want a shitshow of back in action. I remember reading an interview of Brendan Fraser that he did this movie because he got to punch a caricature of himself at the end and he found it cathartic due to all the shit he was going through at the time. It made me really sad. I actually enjoyed this one. The only one I didn't watch was cats don't dance. I only saw the trailer over and over in another wb vhs or dvd. Quest for Camelot, I watched so many times as a kid. I watched it recently and it's really boring. The story is sorta dumb? Man... Osmosis Jones, the only thing I remember is the zit scene. That was a scarring moment.
"Bugs would never do that" if only he knew that 20 years later you would have a full on 3D render of Porky Pig rapping his life out in the sequel of Space Jam. poor guy must be rolling on his grave right now can't blame him tbh that was hot garbo
I also love Cats Don't Dance. That movie is a masterpiece. There's a whole generation of us that were too young to choose what movies we went to go see in theaters when it came out, but our parents got the bargain bin VHS tape and we wore that movie out. It has a following as big as the amount of money it lost lol
Dang, great podcast, am about halfway through these. Saw some of the JoBlo stuff last year but just finding these. Please keep at it and I hope your future audience will discover your underappreciated uploads like this one 👍
❤❤❤❤❤ I LOVED "CATS DON'T DANCE"! I owned the VHS copy of this amazing animated movie, and watched it over 10 times & showed it to a class at BOYS & GIRLS CLUB to the joy of everyone! This NEEDS to be rediscovered by new generations of fans! Scott Bakula & Jasmine Guy singing! That wonderful little penguin!!!! Find it and watch it with friends! :)
I love Quest for Camelot. Though for the admittedly wrong reasons. In the german dub they, somehow, got Nena for Kayley's and Hartmut Engler (singer of Pur) for Garret's singing, and as songs are a big part of the Movie they made it so much better. And I love how Devon and Cornwall (alias Feuer & Flamme in "my" version) figure out to do dragon stuff correctly. When they then just completely style on Ruber's Griffon that's so satisfying.
I can't remember what channel it was on but this used to be on cable all the time. Considering how hard it bombed that makes a lot of sense now. I never found it funny as a kid but now I totally have to rewatch it for the puns and nostalgia.
Over a year late on listening to this, but I feel the need to report that there is in fact an episode of the animated Jackie Chan adventures series where Jackie goes to space! Unfortunately calling it Space Chan doesn't work as well in context, they did land on the almost-as-good title of 'Shanghai Moon'
I got this movie on vhs from the library as a kid and loved it! I rewound it many times to watch the 3 second fart joke when the car crashes into a gland inside frank and you hear a fart sound.
"I went to WB and all I got was a lousy story credit" ROTF! It's the writers strike as I write this comment, so Rae's statement is that much funnier (and sad)
The tv show (which was purely animated) came out when I was a kid so I saw that years before I saw the movie and the movie seemed weird to me since I was used to the tv show
I think I was the right age for this movie when it came out. O was in my early twenties so I got the adult references but I was still a fan of animation so I had that too. Plus I was studying science teaching so the accuracy of the body functions was very good.
Meanwhile, I loved this film (my dad even used to play it for his students on standardized testing days) & had no clue there was a show until recently.
Guys these drinking games are too much, I’m gonna go broke with all these drinking games or my liver is gonna give up on me. Thanks for making me feel like I’m not alone before I black out Also WTF is quest for Camelot, seriously loved it as a kid watched it later on and holy shit, I did not have a fun 90 minutes. I wish I just left it for my childhood
I think you mean “prescient” although technically that’s a post hoc ergo proctor hoc logical fallacy. In reality it’s just coincidental. Edit: Actually, my bad: I think that’s closer to confirmation bias.
I´m guessing either of you remember the bird flu pandemic, or the N1h1 pandemic, or Mersa coronavirus... This movie is not prophetic, It´s a recolection of things that happend.
This movie came out in 2001. All of those major outbreaks happened after that: Bird Flu circa 2014, N1H1 2009, and MRSA data wasn’t really compiled until 2003. This movie was definitely ahead of its time

“Cats DO dance, Mel!” - Love, Rae
Cats don't dance is an amazing cult classic! 😋
I had never heard of this film and this is the third time this week I’ve heard of it. Looks like I gotta check it out
This movie is amazing! The songs are memorable and fun. It deserves more acknowledgment.
@Mel C If it was actually successful, we probably would’ve gotten a terrible TV show or sequel.
The teacher actually made us watch this movie in Biology. I was super surprised they got Chris Rock and Bill Murray in it, and that Chris Rock was actually in this BEFORE Madagascar.

I just watched this thw other day with my wife and we literally thought "this movie must have went through hell" so I'm really glad I found this.
How random!

I loved this film as a child. The cartoon element was well done IMO
Osmosis Jones is
Without flaws God bestowed a
Masterpiece on us.

Per Rae: “My people!”
So this is why Will Smith got so angry with Chris Rock (._. ) he’s just been looking for an excuse all these years

Ngl I actually liked the TV show they made after the film called Ozzy and Drix
Just to let you guys know.... We did watch this movie in health class.
Very informative!
My favorite part of this is that both Animation Directors Tom Sito's and Piet Kroon's names are mispronounced. Love it! Thanks for the funny podcast!
We got to watch this on a school field trip
Awesome!
I can't remember what channel it was on but this used to be on cable all the time. Considering how hard it bombed that makes a lot of sense now. I never found it funny as a kid but now I totally have to rewatch it for the puns and nostalgia.
I can't believe you guys continued after you reached the comedy peak with Space Chan
Shut it down! Our work here is done…

Oh that is a good title!
I was about ten when I watched this in theatre. I loved it so much. I need to rewatch it as an almost 33 year old.
We watched osmosis jones at least once a year in science class and/or health class when a teacher was out of the class.
Lying about Michael Jordan for Back in Action is absolutely amazing considering the amount of money being lost with every film
I got this movie on vhs from the library as a kid and loved it! I rewound it many times to watch the 3 second fart joke when the car crashes into a gland inside frank and you hear a fart sound.
I watched the Ozzy & Drix cartoon after school. Didn't know it was a spin-off from a film until about 10 years later. Still haven't seen it.
Rea, you are not alone. I adore Cats Don't Dance! I own it and have watched it as recently as last year. Big and Loud is a banger!
Pretty scary now that covit is here for almost 3 years now
Ughhhh I know…
Osmosis Jones. Cells at Work! before Cells at Work! was Cells at Work!
‘One more chance. Looney tunes. Back in action’
Me : oh. Shit. XD
"I went to WB and all I got was a lousy story credit" ROTF!
It's the writers strike as I write this comment, so Rae's statement is that much funnier (and sad)
Hahaha. I don’t even remember this.
The tv show (which was purely animated) came out when I was a kid so I saw that years before I saw the movie and the movie seemed weird to me since I was used to the tv show
There's an alarming amount of fan fiction for this movie
Are you going to do "Secret of Nimh?"
HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE REAL REASON WILL SLAPPED CHRIS! FUCK!!! Life comes full circle! 🔵
It all makes sense now!
We watched this in class! Movie rocks
Osmosis Jones, from oscar winner peter Farrelly
I'll be there when you talk about Space Jam, because "I believe I can fly" oh no 😲 😂
I think I was the right age for this movie when it came out. O was in my early twenties so I got the adult references but I was still a fan of animation so I had that too. Plus I was studying science teaching so the accuracy of the body functions was very good.
I remember watching Ozzy and Drix in Kids WB. I didn't know that the was a movie at the time. I saw the spinoff series first
@It Was A Sh*t Show Will there be a Sh*t Show Podcast: Buried (2010) about the making of the Ryan Reynolds movie Buried?
Sorry, but no. Not enough of a story for a full episode.
It’s hard to say if the movie remained PG-13 there’s really no saying it would be a success due to gross out humor.
Holy shit, this one was timely. (Osmosis Jones was prophetic?!?)
Space Chan!!!! 🤣 😂
Now I have to find this movie and rewatch it 😂
I always liked this movie. It’s weird as 💩 but it’s the good weird.
I never saw the film but I used to watch Ozzy & Drix.
Meanwhile, I loved this film (my dad even used to play it for his students on standardized testing days) & had no clue there was a show until recently.
I did watch this movie in health class lol
I watched this the other day and not once did I think what you guys describe in the intro.
The COVID parallels?
@@ItWasAShtShow I suppose if covid was your first introduction of how a virus works.
Guys these drinking games are too much, I’m gonna go broke with all these drinking games or my liver is gonna give up on me.

To be fair, we never thought people would be binging these (pun intended?).
@@ItWasAShtShow That was intended and you know it!
