- Windows 10X was intended to be the next generation of Windows following Windows 10, but it was suddenly cancelled and instead Windows 11 was released. Here is a video comparing some of the programs and the interface of these two systems.

I think Windows 10x was meant to be tablet users but they liked the rounded corners so much that they started developing windows 11
My speculation for why 10X got canceled is that maybe the microsoft event was planned for a long time so they did something to maybe build hype for it beacuse its like a reaction of; if not 10X then what?
I think it was supposed for dual screen devices, then it was changed to be a chromebook competitor then it changed to the Windows 11 we all know
I think 10X may have been a playground
maybe they thought "hey, if people like this version of windows, lets do it" turns out not many people liked it that much and some loved it, unlike windows 8 and vista situation

Not gonna lie, Windows 10X OOBE sounds wholesome, like if it's saying "Welcome to Windows", and Windows 11 is like... "Windows"

@@DemeDemetre The exact opposite. Vista had too low requirements. Microsoft said that "most of computers that now run XP can run Vista" but most of them did not.

To be honest I like Windows 10's action center compared to Windows 11's calendar/notification section but the quick setting's thing seems interesting

@@hashimshaz2075 neither in that, It was designed for compete with Chrome OS in the Ultra book machines, Still, it's the same as Windows 10X, pretty sure it will implement Dual Screen support sometime (still, I don't think it would be very successful)

Lol in this video. But in real life if it existed it would be the fastest operating system. As It would be only running uwp apps. Maximum 10-15 apps.

@@merbudd no, windows10x has nothing to do with windows10 21h2, windows 11 is what windows 10 21h2 would be like before they decided to launch the separate OS, and that's where my comment comes from, the windows10x design is much simpler than that windows 10, and as windows 10 already has a simple and outdated interface, they could implement it in official windows 10 21h2, replacing the windows 11 look that windows 10 would have initially

I feel that Windows 10x can be released in the future, because some features can be reused, well those that remain because most were used in Windows 11, for example a new file explorer better, also animations, wallpapers, security options, etc. then I feel that an update can come out for Windows 11 that contains those changes or that make another operating system
Windows 10x was cancelled, They decided to make windows 11, Otherwise it wouldn't be created and would've possible took till 2022 for The leaked version to be released.
The only thing I like Windows 10X over 11 is the Security Options menu. Damn so smooth

Windows 10X was mostly just for the surface duo. However this is is almost like I don't know windows 8? Except the full start screen. Well I think the reason for Windows10X was canceled Due to it looked more like windows 8 cuz of the start screen was really big. Oh yeah, if your wondering why they picked Android, Its because they don't want to have it being like the windows phone.

I think Windows 10X was a bit the prototype of windows 11, they probably started since 2020 and in may 30 2021 they started developing windows 11

@@x-y.z it was supposed to be an alternate version of Windows 10 meant to be for touch and dual-screen devices, but they cancelled it. I would like to say that maybe at the time of this operating system’s development, they probably were originally gonna add Windows 11’s fluent-UI look to Windows 10 in a major update last year, but they probably decided to add it in a newly separated operating system instead, especially since some other older PCs running Windows 10 would be incomparable with the fluent-UI look.
I installed W11. There is literally zero reason to change from 10 to 11. Also Microsoft changed lots of things without making anything better. So you have an OS were you have to relearn how to control it without getting any benefits from it. Win 10 is a beautyful OS that works like a charm. Just stay with it as long as possible and maybe W12 will be better and get you real benefits that make an OS change worth it.

Actually, I tried Windows 11, and it works great! I have just one tiny little gripe. You can't drag files to the taskbar anymore. But who cared about that? It has a great new window snapping feature. Basically, point your cursor to the maximize button and it will show you layouts where you can snap the window.
@@Linus7671DX Nobody said it does not work. :) And the window snapping is also not bad, i am sure it will pop up in one of the next function updates for Win 10. It's just not worth it to change. It is like changeing to a new car because the headlights are in a slightly different angle, but all the controls of the car are different for absolutly no reason. Not worth the effort.
The worst thing was the taskbar, the unnecessarily huge size and task manager only came up when clicking the start icon. And file explorer spaced out items (in details view) like a tablet UI. So happy after downgrading to 10

Well I think we should call Windows 10x the Windows 11 Beta because it has a lot in common with Win 11, but still represents 10.
Only if you're comparing the user interface. Otherwise they're different from each other in architecture. BetaWiki tweets explains all.

Now I know why windows 10x was scrapped. You could not disable full screen on all tabs. So basically it was not supported for more then a single screen
