Thanks for sharing this tour. Chris M. is awesome, just like everyone at aptera I've talked with. Great people making an amazing vehicle, I can't wait to get mine!
We were first attracted to Aptera because of the team. After meeting Chris and visiting the facility, we know they are a wonderful team creating an incredible product. Super exciting times for sure!

Many animals in nature stick out their ears, wings, or otherwise elevate their solar profiles to improve collection. Looking at the aptera wings up, I'd pay the extra for solar panels on the doors.
It's not just that it pays for itself. There is a looming oil rigger strike that could significantly reduce gasoline supplies. Those kinds of things are not a problem if you have an Aptera.
Agreed, this is the future of transportation. We can no longer drive around in massive steel vehicles, we need to learn to use efficient green technologies to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
The basic numbers if I understand it correctly: $36,000, 40 miles daily off solar only, 140 miles overnight off just 110V, 400 miles on full charge - probably 400 miles overnight off 220V. This will be an interesting piece in the conversion to full electric. With future breakthroughs in solar technology it will go a long ways to overcoming grid capacity issues that doom full electric cars that do not have serious solar power.
Great video. I really liked the conten. It was nice to see the factory floor. Chris was awesome. You guys did a really good job. I'm excited about your next video!
How well does this vehicle handle poor driving and weather conditions, like snow and rain? This car looks so awesome. The exciting part is that the more affordable the car becomes the more I can see this car replacing city commuting vehicles.
This car is a big step into the future of cars. The only worry I really have about it is that it's very wide. So looking forward to people to get their hands on it to see if it's gonna be an issue.
@@3andB I’m sure it’d be tough to make that happen but it’s going to limit a huge part of the market. My dad has pre-ordered and is excited for it. Can’t wait to check it out!

It's all about how much you get to keep in your pocket, and Aptera will allow people to keep a lot more money. This is a huge selling point and is often overlooked. My commute is only about 20 miles per day, so basically I will drive for almost free... incredible.
This is amazing. What shocked me the most was just how affordable they are. This was my #1 problem with electric vehicles was the entry cost over 60K was far more than I was willing to invest.
yep, a sub-optimal (sucky) environment for getting investing money. Production is not guaranteed by any means. I sure hope some folks come along and pony up some investment bucks to make this happen, though. And *soon*. We 🌍 🌏 🌎 need it.
Most startups do take financial losses at first. Hopefully, if they can get production ramped up fast enough, profits will start rolling in. Manufacturing Hell is a well known concept. Easy to build a prototype, hard to get into manufacturing.
One on the major things we witnessed is Aptera's commitment to profitability. We will do a follow up video on this very soon. Aptera is making incredible progress in the solar and battery areas, manufacturing much of it themselves. I think they will become a leader in mobile solar power in addition to the Aptera EV. They are also doing amazing work with form fitting solar panels to different shapes to create extremely strong solar charging components. From what we saw, they are focussed on delivering an amazing EV that is very profitable.
@@3andB "commitment to profitability" and "focus on delivering" are just words. Don't be another TH-camr who is a fanboy, who doesn't ask hard questions. Stick with specific difficult questions, and don't stop asking until you get a specific answers. The truth is that Aptera *may or may not* go into production. Hype and softball questions do not help. You'll be doing a Aptera a favor, as well as its investors and its potential customers, like myself. Everything else is fluff
Aptera is preparing to produce vehicles. There is equipment and parts everywhere. We were not allowed to show a lot of the solar and battery areas, which are incredible. We will be doing a follow up video about what we saw. They are gearing up to manufacture Apteras, and it was so exciting to see.
For around $70,000 Canadian...1000 Mile Range (1600 kms) + 40 Mile Solar Range (60 kms)...Way better option than Tesla. I don't drive 4 people all the time any way either. Just me and another person....I can travel much farther too. So Sick! Just need a real world review when it's released...Sign me up!
I think the factory needs $50million and then we will have production.... let us hope someone decides to make the huge leap we all have and pony up $50m.... we shall see. fingers crossed!!!!
@@3andB I think many of the pre-orders would be prepared to put money down now. Eg, If 5000 people paid an average $10,000 advance on their car, the $50million could be available within weeks.
How does one trade in their vehicle? you mean sell back to company? I drive a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid Preferred which is a highly efficient car and I used the solar calc and I only save 2500 usd BUT I still want to go Fully Electric
40 to 80 is certainly a good start, but you are right, we need to get those numbers up significantly so we can start replacing these giant gas guzzlers with efficient EVs like Aptera.
It seems like aptera is promoting the max solar production like it's the average. According to some fans who did solar calculations based on the amount of solar panels and efficiency ratings the highest yearly averages were in the low 30s in Hawaii or Arizona. Of course assuming you don't park in the shade. Most people will probably only get 9 hours of sun at work /commuting before parking inside.
I'm one of those that have done the solar calculations (and have hands on experience with solar race cars w/ compound curved arrays using the exact same solar cells Aptera is using) and feel many an Aptera owner will be quite disappointed with the solar range claimed vs the solar range achieved.....
Everything looks great! I'm wondering if they will have something similar to sentry mode in Tesla. Aptera is probably the most eye catching car you could probably buy, and it will attract alot of onlookers, some more nefarious than others.
how about on a road with high camber? some straight roads unfortunately have high camber or sideways slope, i've built a similar 3 wheeler and it was a real problem on those types of roads, the back feels like it is sliding somewhat, very disconcerting.......aptera should defintely test on very high cambered roads if they haven't already considered this, it effects stability big time on a three wheeler.
Impressive! I heard about the SION car project now being cancelled in Germany but i thought i heard some rumours in that direction about the Aptera. What i can see in this video is pretty amazing - can‘t wait to see such a little wonder on the autobahn^^ (if it can be driven super fast because of the structure)
I gotta admit i just returned to finish watching the video… because after starting the video, pausing and writing the comment i really went on the website and made a reservation, hehe. Kinda hyped and absolutely enjoying it^^
We are super excited to get ours too!! Glad you made a reservation, we're all on the same list! (And thank you for coming back to watch, it means a lot to us!!)
Hoping for a 4-seater version down the line. I wouldn't mind riding a 2-seater autonomous taxi between my Philly apartment & work, but it's tough to car pool to the airport with only 2 seats.
They had a 4 seater prototype design in the works before, but one of the main reasons for going for the 3 wheel version first is that it's much easier for them as a start up to meet the regulations for that kind of vehicle. After they have proven that this kind of vehicle can be a success, a 4 seat 4 wheel version is basically inevitable.
@@rorychivers8769 I mean, if a 3-wheel 4-seater is made, I'll buy it if it makes sense and isn't gutless to drive. I mean, it'll weigh significantly less than my 2021 Accord Hybrid at 212 horses, and that's more power than I need. And I won't be on the market until at least 2032, preferably 2035 so we've got time for mass production solid state batteries to come online.
@@patrickproctor3462 It's a lot of horsepower for a super light frame that cuts through the air like a knife. It's like putting a v12 in a Mini Cooper. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns a few die-hard petrolheads green.
It is very fast. I have driven a lot of fast cars in my day. The Aptera put me in the seat and accelerated very quickly. It is very fun to be in. I agree, it will turn the heads of many people, and when they find out how affordable and efficient it is, I think Aptera will find great success.
I think all of these technicalities will be resolved. But you are right, insurers will insure it for however much they need to make their money, unfortunately, somethings never change.
It is an animal that evolved to use the 'human roads'. I don't think this amazing organically shaped car from the future will be registered as a motorcycle in my country. I hope to buy an Aptera in the next few years, I will call it Moya. 'Moya, set destination Southern Spain, prepare journey'. I will go for the smallest battery set, I want to buy a brilliantlightpower Sun Cell unit as well, and adapt it to the Aptera DC system, then one liter of water will transport me for at least three thousand miles.
Sounds like you have an awesome plan! The green technology that is emerging is incredible. Please send a link to the Sun Cell you will be using, we'd love to check it out!
Can get a used one for 40 50k. If you have a living situation with your parents or a bunch of roommates it's less than a thousand a month for a used model s. Not bad
He deserves it and he works in the EV industry - it makes sense. I think his ability to compare the Aptera to a Tesla - both the performance and EV charging experience is invaluable.
my worries..no joke intended here, but if I need to escape through the window, I may have hard time getting through the window's opening. I hope they have some safety measure in situations like that.
I would wait to find out the test results. They have tested the Aptera in all kinds of weather including snow. Check out the Aptera Owners Club for more information.
Put a roll cage and front and side air bags in them for safety. That might increase the pool of buyers by giving assurance of head room and impact absorption if it were to roll. That is my only concern, otherwise, I would definitely consider buying one of these. I would also like to see a tandem two seat version that is narrow enough to fit two of them in a single lane of traffic, like a motorcycle. By making them narrow, you effectively can double the carrying capacity of the existing road system.
The stock mirrors are the size they are so it meets a motorcycle required minimum size (3x5) they will have a camera included inside them for the electronic rear and side mirror displays inside the Aptera. Either way, you’re covered.
would love some basic diagnosis at first then upgrading updates for more. I would love some heating and cooling after and before a drive. A automatically battery manager charging system we can see if the basics are heating and cooling the batteries incase we are ever suspecting a coolant leak or heater element or needing to go check our AC system, trust me basic info helps to just see it to check stuff. I would love to see basic info on the motor power draws and some things because it will help if I ever have a issue with a motor or converter or if I can not see anything a issue with a brain controller. Trust me basic information can save heartache and money. Now starting with other basic Accounting and functions email and contacting if wanted, and other fun basic controls. We need each personal car or cars to be able to connect to a personal app I would love to know a state of charge notification so I could go outside and put things away soon and a reminder. I would love some color themes even purchase some themes and sounds for my costume likes.
From what I saw, Aptera is all about finding the best, most efficient, and cost-conscious methods of building this vehicle. I think they found a dedicated partner in Italy, and I do hope it makes sense.
I have one on pre-order but I still worry about being able to get out if this car flips over afterwards an accident. In the real world, there are other scenarios that can flip the car (especially this one). The most obvious is an offset rear collision on the freeway. Let's say you're paying attention and have to come to a complete stop due to traffic jam but someone behind you isn't paying attention. They then rear ends you offset to the right or left because they're trying to turn last minuet trying to avoid you. The height of the rear section is high enough that a smaller cars bumper can slide underneath the sloaped rear area of the Aperta and flip the car end over end. Now that you're on the roof, will the doors open high enough so you can get out?
Worst case you're in there till someone flips the car over. Keep a glass breaker in the car. How many times have you been upside-down in a car? I really don't get this car concern. I also just wanted to point out I never worry about this when thinking about my Aptera car.
@@rotaryperfection you are correct. It looks to me, like it would be completely impossible to get out of this if it flips. I didn’t find the guys assertion that it’s hard to flip it to be acceptable; as you point out, a car can be flipped by other forces. I suppose, if you were worried you could keep a hammer inside the vehicle.
Current projected price starts at $26,000.00 for the 250 mile range front wheel drive model. Up to about $50,000.00 for the 1000 mile range all wheel drive with custom colors, driivers' assistance package and all of the accessories.
Before I would buy one of these cars I would want a independent testing co. to test the car, and I would want to to see the whole vid of the car being tested.
just make it with space for rear seats. you dont need to put them in there if the regumuhlations dont want that, but still. you will be ready for a better thing and have space for more solar.
Of course 3andB they won't have any vehicles sold and in the hands of the original reservation holders by end of 2023 and probably never. They may make a few more at a loss and hand them to promoters or insiders but for a compnay that was suppose to create a very easy vehicles with shells that you pop out of a mold an enclosed motorcycle that doesn't need to do any crash tests - they aren't late they are over with.
Don't we have a bet on this? - End of 2023, production starts, we get 40/day, maybe 1,000 by end of 2023. - End of 2024, first plant is at 80/day, second plant is operational at 120/day by end of 2024. Total delivered for 2024: 20,000. - End of 2025, 2-3 plants operational: 500/day. End of 2025: 100,000-120,000 This is just my guess and my opinion. I think they can make this happen. Maybe they will get it all done in just 2 manufacturing facilities. Hey @aptera, giddy up! We still have a bet?

love seeing stuff like this
I expect he had no idea what you were talking about.
Oh, he seemed to be aware of Aptera. I only had a minute in passing, but I got the impression he knew what I was talking about.
@@dondaniels127 I'll take your word for it but he has always seemed pretty suffericial to me.
On my wish list.
This is amazing. What shocked me the most was just how affordable they are. This was my #1 problem with electric vehicles was the entry cost over 60K was far more than I was willing to invest.
I was shocked at the price too. I was expecting them to be about 10-20k higher... I am not complaining!
Great video.
Thank you for your support! Test-drive will be released tonight and we will have a reaction video next week. Again, ty.
I love the way Sol looks. I was a Noir person all the way but now I am not sure.
We love the way Sol looks too. It is a beautiful vehicle!
Love it, but to me, the elephant in the room is the question: able to produce large amounts while not making a financial loss?
yep, a sub-optimal (sucky) environment for getting investing money.
I love the vehicle. sadly I live in a place with a lot of snow, the wheel structure would not hold up well under local conditions in the winter :(
How many square feet does Aptera need for its manufacturing facility?
The facility we were in is 80,000 square feet. They will be able to produce 40 Aptera EVs / 8 hour shift / day.
@@3andB Thank you.
That is a serious amount of pallet racks
Aptera is preparing to produce vehicles. There is equipment and parts everywhere. We were not allowed to show a lot of the solar and battery areas, which are incredible. We will be doing a follow up video about what we saw. They are gearing up to manufacture Apteras, and it was so exciting to see.
Hot dang! He said the Glogo is going to stay!
The Glogo is so cool and it also acts as a knock-sensor! We love it too!
Any idea about drivers licences needed in Europe? I've heard normal motor car licences are enough in Europe, but can anybody confirm that?
For around $70,000 Canadian...1000 Mile Range (1600 kms) + 40 Mile Solar Range (60 kms)...Way better option than Tesla. I don't drive 4 people all the time any way either. Just me and another person....I can travel much farther too. So Sick! Just need a real world review when it's released...Sign me up!
Correction, This is where the Magic is happening!
Factory appears to be 18 months away from production. Any update on this?
I think this is a good question. How will Aptera handle trade-ins and financing for Aptera vehicles? Let's see if the community knows or we an ask!
@@3andB Yes! I'd honestly love to be able to trade in my car for it one way or another, is there an Aptera community somewhere I can join?
Great work! Though I hope there are future plans to get out more than 40 to 80 a day. Aptera seems well-positioned to do well!
Totally agree, most owners will be lucky to get 10 miles of range from solar per day.
I'm one of those that have done the solar calculations (and have hands on experience with solar race cars w/ compound curved arrays using the exact same solar cells Aptera is using) and feel many an Aptera owner will be quite disappointed with the solar range claimed vs the solar range achieved.....
Are you going to be at the Electrify Expo in Long Beach California May 19th through the 21st
What is the 0-60?
I still am waiting to hear what the turning radius is. I think, currently, doing a U turn will be a 3 point turn.
You can kind of see it in the new myths debunked video: th-cam.com/video/8HVWocgWJq4/w-d-xo.html
A number of people have asked about the turning radius. We need to ask the Aptera Owners Club if they know the exact figure. Otherwise, let's ask!
Everything looks great! I'm wondering if they will have something similar to sentry mode in Tesla. Aptera is probably the most eye catching car you could probably buy, and it will attract alot of onlookers, some more nefarious than others.
That's a great idea!
how about on a road with high camber? some straight roads unfortunately have high camber or sideways slope, i've built a similar 3 wheeler and it was a real problem on those types of roads,
the back feels like it is sliding somewhat, very disconcerting.......aptera should defintely test on very high cambered roads if they haven't already considered this, it effects stability big time on a three wheeler.
Was your similar three-wheeler also front driven?
I’m not convinced that being classed as a motorcycle will result in lower insurance. Insurance companies aren’t stupid.
I think all of these technicalities will be resolved. But you are right, insurers will insure it for however much they need to make their money, unfortunately, somethings never change.
I want one whith a single wheel bob trailer
Is that an option???
👍
How can you afford a Model S ??? Did you get one WITH a motor???
He deserves it.
How much cost a cracked window replacement?
That's a great question. Cracked window in my Prius is a small fortune!
glare off the solar panels on teh dash will also be an issue
Chris M is making Model S money?? Thats awesome good for him, great financial situation to be in especially for his age.
Very cool, but the single rear wheel won't work where it snows.
I would wait to find out the test results. They have tested the Aptera in all kinds of weather including snow. Check out the Aptera Owners Club for more information.
@3andB -- I'm happy with my Bolt euv, but hope the Aptera does well; I take all marketing with many grains of salt :)
realy want to know more about eurpean version
Put a roll cage and front and side air bags in them for safety. That might increase the pool of buyers by giving assurance of head room and impact absorption if it were to roll. That is my only concern, otherwise, I would definitely consider buying one of these. I would also like to see a tandem two seat version that is narrow enough to fit two of them in a single lane of traffic, like a motorcycle. By making them narrow, you effectively can double the carrying capacity of the existing road system.
Tandem version sounds amazing! How do we get that suggestion in front of Chris and Steve?!?!?
Bring it to Europe
They have to make them first.
Wait so is the production gonna be the only car with half mirrors with camera inside or what?
In order to exchange the tire, normaly you take off the wheel. How is it with Aptera?
Remove any covers and undo the lug nuts.
After you remove the wheel cover the tire comes off like any other car, just remove the lug nuts.
Nice
Noir is the best. The other two are 'ok'
Noir looks really sharp for sure.
I'm torn, because the black & white look is very visible, which can be very important, esp. at night.
Sourcing components from Italy sounds expensive.
From what I saw, Aptera is all about finding the best, most efficient, and cost-conscious methods of building this vehicle. I think they found a dedicated partner in Italy, and I do hope it makes sense.
@@3andB I love the design, but I’m not sure they can reach full production of a viable car.
Jag vill ha! 🤗
Not a car, it’s a motorcycle
@@coolranch1660 I don't care guy!
Worst case you're in there till someone flips the car over. Keep a glass breaker in the car. How many times have you been upside-down in a car? I really don't get this car concern. I also just wanted to point out I never worry about this when thinking about my Aptera car.
@chublez That's far from worse case. I'm pretty sure someone would want to get out fast just in case there another car on fire near you.
Est. Cost?
Current projected price starts at $26,000.00 for the 250 mile range front wheel drive model. Up to about $50,000.00 for the 1000 mile range all wheel drive with custom colors, driivers' assistance package and all of the accessories.
The base model is expected to cost $25,900. The top end model is around $44,000. Those prices may go up due to inflation.
Before I would buy one of these cars I would want a independent testing co. to test the car, and I would want to to see the whole vid of the car being tested.
I do believe independent crash testing will occur as they get closer to production. Would that satisfy you?
No more grey people with grey suits design grey cars. 👏👏👏 I would love to have one day
It's time for a new way, and Aptera and other similar companies are leading the revolution.
Super car
Indeed, now we just need it in our driveway!
just make it with space for rear seats. you dont need to put them in there if the regumuhlations dont want that, but still. you will be ready for a better thing and have space for more solar.
Lol, regumuhltions!! It is always the law stopping us from having the fun we deserve!

Either way, not a car
Why not make a 4 wheel version to win the federal grants off the bat - setting the rears similar to the fronts ?
The additional power and 4 wheel steer would also compliment
Because then it's a car with all the regulation that comes with being a car.
@@nonegone7170 So is it not good enough to be a car ?
@@waynefergusson9987 They would most likely have to adhere to much more stringent legislation, unlike the 'quad cycle' category they're in now.
End of 2025: 100,000-120,000
This is just my guess and my opinion. I think they can make this happen. Maybe they will get it all done in just 2 manufacturing facilities. Hey @aptera, giddy up!
We still have a bet?
