I think he realised he would never repeat/surpass the performance he had just given…..staring directly into the face of your own ‘Magnum Opus’ must be terrifying and enthralling.
I was from the very lucky ones to meet Mr. Pavarotti during his rehearsal for Torino Winter Olympics 2006 ! He made his rehearsal in an empty stadium during the night and all of us, about 100 people, working untill late for the Opening Ceremony, run to the seating area near the stage to listen! The whole venue was filled with his voice ! It was a heavenly experience and a very emotional moment for all of us! He sung Nessun' Dorma from Turandot (the same u chose for your reaction)! Mr Pavarotti after his rehearsal met us backstage, talked with us and thanked us for our hard work! He was very kind, he had a strong and deep laugh and a personality larger than life! I will never forget this day ! This was his last performance! I think he must have known about his health issues about this time bcz at the end of his performance he closed his eyes and open his hands wide and stayed like this for a long time as if he was giving us his last farewell !Unfortunatelly after 18 months he lost the battle with cancer!
G is swaying with the vibes...then the first note emerges from the throat of the Master....and he goes still; slowly smiling in wounder. Classic! (Seriously, go back and watch!! LoL!!) Great Reaction!
@@daveloboda1769 - Of COURSE there's a comparison. You could also compare Pavarotti to Tom Brady, Neil Peart, or anyone else who stood head and shoulders above the rest in their field.
Luciano was definitely the GOAT. His performances always seemed effortless. Some years back he was scheduled to perform this at the Grammys. He became ill and had to cancel his performance within hours of the show. Aretha Franklin stepped in for him since she had performed it a few days before. You should check out that performance. She did so well that Pavarotti asked her to go on his next tour with him. She declined (due to her well known fear of flying). But her performance that night is legendary. Thanks for all your great reactions. 👏👏🥰
The joy expressed on your young friend's face, and his reaction to individual notes was everything. Every time I hear him sing I forget to breathe at least once and it's so nice to see that same appreciation on the face of another generation.
The young man has such a big beautiful smile while watching this reaction. He understands the requirements of singing Opera. Lucian makes it look easy but years of practice has been given to his craft. I love Opera as well and have seen many performances. I love all genre’s of music. Nice to see the younger generations having an interest in this music and all the other music of the 70’s and 80’s. Love your reactions.
I was told by other opera singers that Pavarotti could not read music. He learned all these Arias by ear only, and yet he was one of the best tenors in the world.
The RNC used this as their closer, but another opera singer did it. Pavarotti is the closet to Caruso, I have ever heard. Caruso was from an era that has been forgotten, but my grandmother had 78rpm records, I literally warped, playing them so much. We used to go to the opera and other symphonic performances. I was the only person she knew who loved that kind of music. Later, with kids of my own, I introduced them to it as well. Every Saturday was Classical and Opera, up loud. My oldest son became a DJ, and he advertised for Senior Reunions and Senior Living Centers, where he included some of this music. The Seniors were very pleased that he even knew that type of music existed. He always got call-backs from them.
Also worth realising that most opera performances are not amplified. The singers technique means they can be heard at the back of the theatre over a full orchestra.
There's only one reaction needed left: Luciano Pavarotti and James Brown duetting on It's A Man's Man's Man's World. So grand and gorgeous live performance.
Iv seen videos of him in maserclasses talking to and giving advice to other opera singers. Look at his eyes as he seeks the notes and his approach to the verse. He is looking in his mind but you can see it in his eyes
The facial expression is amazing but i remember one exactly the same in the last samurai, with tom cruise, when Katsumoto is dying and looking at the cherry blossom says "perfect".... its the same stare of accomplishment and conquer of a divine achieving moment...
Awww...Love the young man's smile of happiness, overall first reaction and also having his own, differing, opinion from the start: saying he'd always wanted to see an opera. Refreshing. 😊 Pavarotti is ...... beyond incredible. Loving the range on your show so far! Thanks!
If you haven't seen the first charity performance he did at Caracalla with Domingo and Carreras, it is fun because in the encore they all sing verses from Nessun Dorma.....and it is so good. Also.....his version of O Sole Mio will make you cry.
G Colo said it: 'I love music'. There are so many genres out there, it's a shame to limit yourself to just one. ''Music is the healing force of the world.''
You may be right about the difficulties he was going through at the time of the oerformance but that look at the end was the look of someone who was amazed by his own greatness and rightfully so. He has always been a great entertainer, elaborate and dramatic. And i dont mean in a self gradisation way because he was the most generous and loving person, he just loved music and sharing. I think it adds to his performance. It was like " bask upon the greatness of that performance" its like showmanship. Awesome

Luciano Pavarotti was phenomenal! I'm sure he's leading the choir in heaven. Be sure and check out his live performance of this when he was a lot younger that just blew me away. The best Nessun dorma - Luciano Pavarotti - Turandot - Puccini
This was the 1994 3 Tenors concert in LA during the world cup. I believe it was Jose Carreras that had leukemia and sang along with Luciano and Placido. I was in high school back then but this was so awesome I bought the CD... I still have it.
I saw Pavarotti in San Diego and believe me, he did NOT need a mike! Amazing POWER in his voice and control. The greatest tenor in the world. Perfection!
I was blessed many years ago to hear Pavarotti in concert in Arizona, unlike the other great singers on the same program, when Pavarotti sang it was a visceral experience, chicken skin. It is hard to explain, but your entire body vibrates at a level of joy! What you hear in a recording is nowhere near the experience of hearing him live.
I get chills everytime i listen to this. Luciano has such an incredibly beautiful voice. The world lost an angel in 2007. You should check out the Three Tenors doing this song, Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo and José Carreras.
