Ibogaine has been used for quite some time to help break the addiction to opiates and opioids. Specifically in North America, the centers are typically in Mexico, although there are whispers of hidden shaman clinics in New Mexico and Oklahoma as well.
Ibogaine actually makes you trip balls similar to the way Ayahuasca does; DMT.
Ibogaine is not a quick experience. It lasts anywhere from 18 hours to 48 hours depending on dosage, body chemistry, and several other factors. It's administered orally most frequently. A greenish powder compressed into a clear capsule.
The legit clinics usually want you to have a cardiac check up first to make sure you're cardiovascular health is up for the experience.
There's a lot of sweating, rising blood pressure, anxiety, vomiting, dysphoria, etc. as it begins to come on and take effect.
This is also why a "healer" professional is supposed to sit with you and guide you through your experience.
Once the initial stomach discomfort begins to subside a bit, the healer generally is tasked with keeping you calm, attending to any needs you might have, trying to make the experience as comfortable and beneficial to you as possible.
This means that in some sessions they will ask you to express how you're feeling, they may guide questions towards discovery and introspection.
They'll also act as a sort of counselor during moments of traumatic recollection or moments where you become emotionally vulnerable, distraught, or caught in a negative loop.
There are also long stretches of time that might have little to no talking, but perhaps moody, relaxing music playing and you will be laying back in a comfy hammock, sofa, or bean bag in a dimly lit room. Those are moments of self reflection and diving deep inside to uncover truths which have somehow become lost or hidden from you and your guide may only speak when spoken to during these parts.
Some people say they have very scary sections of their Ibogaine session where they're hallucinating or just feeling extreme, intense paranoia, sadness, or fear that this feeling or this drug will never go away.
The guide will help remind you of the truth and try to guide your mind back to the goal.
You might also have moments that seem to last hours but were only minutes or sections where it felt like something went by fast but in reality it was hours.
There might be sections where you have conversations, either out loud or in your mind, with yourself as you learn about things that have held you back, things that have aided in your addiction dependency.
Often times the patient will be offered some fresh fruit like watermelon or grapes during their session at the midway mark if their stomachs can handle it.
Some relive memories from their past then dissect those memories as a silent observer in real time, allowing them a fuller picture of the facts and surrounding circumstances to better learn and heal from said memories.
I've heard stories of individuals seeing lost loved ones, reliving traumatic events, and even some claiming to have seen or been visited by spiritual entities.
The culmination of all these experiences wraps up at the end when the patient has successfully undergone multiple hours of psychedelic, psychological healing at the guidance of their assigned healer or shaman and finally, after trying to have a bit more food, will rest and sleep.
The actual pharmacological effect Ibogaine has throughout the human body and brain is described well in a Wikipedia page. Just do a Google search.
Regarding opiates; patients who have been on Heroin for 30 years or Methadone for 20 have been able to kick after 1 Ibogaine session.
Some extreme cases have required 2 sessions, although this is highly irregular.
Essentially the Ibogaine molecule partially fills the opiate receptor sites in the brain, spine, and gastrointestinal system like a key in a lock.
It binds to and sits on those Opiate receptor sites and stays there for a really long time, tricking the brains opioid dependent system into thinking it doesn't need more.
This mitigates a decent enough portion of the Opiate withdrawal symptoms, to at least, take the edge off the worst of it.
Now, depending on how high the persons Opiate tolerance was BEFORE starting treatment with Ibogaine AND how much they preemptively tapered their daily dosage and usage of opiates down to can massively impact the component of this natural medicine that combats physical withdrawal symptoms.
Because Ibogaine is really a 2 Fold Medication that combats Opiate addiction from 2 opposite angles.
One aspect is the psychological healing. The healing of the mind. Figuring out what caused you to use to begin with. Achieving a new, positive, hopeful outlook on life in general.
Sometimes users will need to undergo a second session 6 months later. It really is like a psychological reset button. Great for depression too.
Then there is the aspect of curbing and mitigating the physical withdrawal symptoms.
There are people on both sides of the healing spectrum who say "the mental part is hardest for me" and others who say "Italian definitely the physical withdrawals that are hardest for me. It feels like a Flu but 100 times more intense. Your skin is so sensitive to the touch clothes even feel bad and scratchy. You want crawl out of your skin. You're hot and cold. Sweating. Every single bone, ligament, joint, and muscle scream in pain. You feel like you have severe rheumatoid arthritis, not to mention your stomach goes insane with bubbly guts, gas, diarrhea, cramping, no appetite, and you have to pee constantly. Also if you're a male; let's just say your libido skyrockets which is totally a bizarre itch to scratch when you're feeling so unbelievably sick."
Luckily, Ibogaine attacks this disease from both angles.
Unfortunately, with the current administration in power over the government in the United States who value immediate profit over saving lives (nevermind the long term amount of $ actually saved on emergency room visits for overdoses that never get paid, fighting drug crime, etc. etc. the list goes on and on) it seems like Ibogaine is a long way off before becoming a legal alternative to other, much more expensive legal options here in the good ole' US of A.

I still remember Oxy 130mg, Green 20mg Opana's and Roxy 30's that were crushable/snortable. Thank God, I have almost 10 years under my belt, for sobriety. I am 338 days sober today and thought I’d put in my input. As an opiate addict it does feel as if you will never stop until your dead. You don’t want too. Tramadol was one of my first opiates gave me a high forsure but nothing compared to the fentanyl we’re getting over here tho. Tramadol can be easy to withdrawl and get off of. Using Kratom. Ibogaine is crazy I wanna try it one day maybe get off all my prescriptions.
Edit. I quit benzos as well I am finally free.

Always enjoy Hamilton's discussions focused on psychedelics in Africa. Iboga and ibogaine deserve a lot more supporting content. The first clinical trials on the use of psilocybin in South Africa have also recently been approved.
Are they using Psilocybin to treat Opioid addiction? Thought that was for Depression primarily?
I have such respect and admiration for the people involved in the making of this show.
Not only will this show inspire hundreds if not thousands of people all over the world to become scientists and chemists. It will save lives.
The war on drugs has stood in the way of research for far too long. Progress is painfully slow and future generations will look down on us for it.
But there is no doubt in my mind that this show will play a part in breaking down the festering stigma that stands in the way of not only research and science. But for people millions of people to be able to live a rich and full life.

OMG. I legit almost got addicted to this stuff. I can't remember why I went to the hospital but they gave it to me for pain. It made me feel better. After about a week of regular use, I felt like I needed it. I took it twice in one day not because I needed to but because I wanted to. I was sleep and I felt like something literally woke me out of my sleep to take it. That's when I stopped right there. I heard opiates create an attachment due to the natural nature of them. And I'm so glad I did

Psychedelic’s definitely have potential to deal with mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, I would like to try them again but it’s just so hard to source here
Psychedelics are the reason why i didn’t take my life when i was at my end. I was stripped of my ego and saw the beauty of life and interconnectivity and even though i still battle anxiety and depression, I’m doing better everyday and will never think in such a self destructive way again.

It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."

It’s crazy I started taking perc 30s in pieces to be able to work more hours at work also I did construction 10 hours a day and had no idea when I stopped how hard it would be. It ruined my life. But prior to that someone introduced them to me and it was the worst day of my life I wish I could take it back.
Yeah I'm about to have my fourth spinal surgery, for my first two I took codeine.... then tramadol then morphine and for my last two oxycodone... the morphine withdrawal was bad but nothing compared to oxycodone..... it's two weeks compared to 5-7 on morphine and feels like you're dying, after my next surgery I'm dreading having to come off them, I'm thinking about rehab this time.

Unfortunately there are no immediate plans for the show to continue. Hamilton and the crew were heavily disrupted by the pandemic. This delayed production massively and forced Hamilton and the crew to work many hours for free and even partially fund the production themselves. Hamilton now has a research job that takes up most of his time.
There's a great podcast he's been doing which is mostly confined to his Patreon, but you can find some great material for free on Hamilton's TH-cam channel.

I feel it. Years ago that's what made my opiate addiction take off. Doing it at work. It got to the point that I was in this cycle where I would go to work, only if I was high tho cuz w opiates, if you aren't you cant do anything(perfect money making substance cuz the use HAS to have it. There is no, nah I'm good off it today). I'd go to work to earn enough money to be able to be high to go to work.. I felt like I was good cuz I hold down a job.. barely pay my bills, then drugs. Really didn't have much food. I was going to work to buy drugs to make it bearable to go to work... think about how insane that is, if you understand what I'm saying. Thank God he has taken me out of that 🙏

This is an absolutely incredible documentary. Applause for Hamilton, really well done. Really authentic. To show what the people were experiencing. Remember, they're experiencing not because they're weak. But because they've been exploited by centralized, developed nations with resources taht were taken from indigenous people. That's why they take that drug. If we can stop taht, or bring awareness to it, we can really help them. But Iboga is magic also, a beautiful beautiful plant :)
Back when I used to do prescription pills, I would be angry when they would prescribe tramadol. I dont see how anyone can get high on it

I'm on it for 7 years ..6 daily. I definitely have bad withdrawals if I forget to fill my prescription and I have accidentally taken 4 instead of two in the same few hours and felt a little wierd but what they really do is relieve my depression. Now I'm addicted af

Oh yeah, we used to take high doses of tramadol here too. At the prescribed dose, it doesn't do anything. But when you take a bunch of them, yeah... And they suck ass coming off of! Ugh, I do not miss those days!
Agreed. There's a bunch of people on here saying you can't get high on tramadol lol which is BS. I'm in recovery from heroin but before that I was getting a good and energetic high from tramadol when i would take a few pills. And the withdrawl is awful. People really don't know what the hell they're talking about

I have treated addicts in Canada for over 10 years in Canada. In 2017 health Canada made ibogaine a prescription drug and tried shutting me down.

I suffer from PTSD, and with my trauma I've also gained an addiction to opioids. I've tried them all Oxycodon, Tramadol, Codein, Morphin, Contalgin and every single variable in-between with their famcy pharma names. Ive been an addict for 12 years, it all started with a broken bone. I got some painkillers to handle the pain, and i was immediately hooked it made me the person i wished i was. Plus it helped with my nightmares/flashbacks i suffered from PTSD, time just flew by i took the first pill at the low age of 14 now im 26 and 3 months clean. I never thought i would get clean, i lived in a lie that i told myself i couldn't live without the pills. I've wasted 12 years if my life, most you my late teen years are blurry. I've killed myself 2 times overdosing, even tho every day i a fight. And i have to confront my demons, I've never been happier and hopeful for what the future brings me. Im so happy that i get to raise my children with a sober and clean mind, that in 4 months i get to see my daughter get born and that she is never gonna see her dad as the loser junkie he was.
I hope that who ever reads this and are struggling with drug addiction, finds the strength and gets the support to get clean. Remember whatever you're fighting with, that no matter what that you deserve a life with happiness. and that you as a person are good enough, there are people who loves you and they will support you :)

Isn't Tramadol, like the weakest opiate there is and taken in large amounts, can cause seizures?
its an RC, and yea they have high seizure rates in people after 600-800mg typically. tapentadol is safer and much better.

@@HarptoHeart69 100mg of tapentadol has the same effects as around 20 to 30mg of oxy codone. You won't feel nauseas, there's almost no withdrawals when coming off it, there's alot of benefits to rcs over these hard opiates that have severe and dangerous side effects. They aren't full proof but there a he'll of alot better then the alternatives.

The good side of things
They have to be taking Tramadol pills mixed with other things, perhaps fentanyl. Tramadol itself is very weak and used in countries instead of morphine or oxy, some studies have even shown tramadol to help people who suffer from depression as it has effects on serotonin. So unless Vice is sure it is pure Tramadol they should be using better language explaining whether it's laced etc
Tramadol is a synthetic opioid, which causes withdrawal with continued use of the drug. My wife used to be addicted to it and I have seen her sick from it. Unfortunately I have been a heroin addict for over 20yrs so I know she was sick from just regular tramadol.
@@bobbygarciano6207 I am a Psychologist and studies have been done to show the low risk involved regarding addiction, whereas dependency is most likely what made your wife sick, just like every other SSRI, they are hard to come off and usually cause rebound anxiety/depression

Well, over here people get addicted on Subutex, which is supposed to be a drug to help withdraw off opiates. Just because some places in the world have high tolerance for certain stuff, doesn’t mean it’s the same in different areas.
@@Jukeboksi any pharmaceutical drug needs to have tested and found an average dosage amount, there is no way that a company would start selling xanax at 0.25 if that same does would cause an overdose in Asia. Tolerance starts when people frequently use the drug and therefore need a higher dose which could lead to an overdose. Tramadol is therefore a weak and safe opioid wherever you go, a seizure is the biggest concern compared to overdose in heroin use.
Did you know that it is very difficult to overdose on alprazolam AKA Xanax, yet people are overdosing on Street Xanax because it is mixed with other substances predominantly fentanyl. And I'm sure that because of this story being in a third world country there might not be any proper research into what exactly is present in the system of someone who has overdosed
Great reporting, not as exciting of a title. Maybe use a term like; in many African countries? I mean North American news outlets rarely use the term North America. But if its in more than one part of a different continent, especially Africa, you just throw the whole thing in there

I was given Tramadol at the beginning of rx's. I got high on them, a little. It did not last, and I stopped them. 2 days later, I was in FULL WITHDRAWAL!! Went to E.R., where they told me that Tramadol was NOT a narcotic, and my withdrawal wasn't possible!! I demanded to see another doc, who treated me with withdrawal drugs.
Bet that first doc is kicking himself now....
Tramadol made me have a seizure behind the wheel, & a couple I know both had seizures after taking maybe 7 pills. It’s a nasty high in my opinion, not like Vicodin or oxycodone.

Ibogaine is a controlled substance in the USA, Schedule I. It's a better option than Methadone or Suboxone.

@Anni_james you don't need to. The only drug I use is weed, and that's legal here in Canada. There are plenty of stores nearby and some deliver whilst others are even drive thru.

Always love to hear more about the power of Iboga. However with America’s new protocols based on psychedelic ignorance it is important these days for the treatment to work that it is done correctly. On my channel my next video is going to be about the the unsuccessful Ibogaine journey I just had, I have a video up about the successful one I did when I was younger and in a few weeks I am going to get another proper treatment, which I will follow as well.
Does it work for benzos
I have heard of people doing it for Benzos and alcohol yes, you’d maybe have to look a little more into it because Ibogaine can be heavy on the heart and there are risks associated which seizure in withdraw but they are usually pretty knowledgeable about proper tapering.
If anyone in the USA or canada is looking for iboga at a reasonable cost and take it at home, I know of a man who can help and has treated thousands of people already with success!!!!

I write scripts for this stuff for the doctor to sign and oddly enough, most patients want something stronger like Percocet.

Tramadol?!? My friends always used to get so messed up off of tramadol but no matter how much I took, it would never work for me. I tried many times & different ROAs & never once did I feel anything other than dizzyness which was a result of low grade serotonin syndrome from taking too much.

Sure? in my experience 200 mg of tramadol with no tolerance and some weed it is like any other opioid (morphine, heroin, oxy, etc) I think it's more dangerous because you need doses that are considered "not safe" to get that effect wich it would be considered normal in morphine terms. Tramadol has another additional effect on the serotonin and norepinephrine

No it’s not greed. Not everyone can take the same meds. There are also not thousands of options for pain medicine. I have been on 20-30 different meds for pain, there is only a few I can take that actually work for me

So, with any 'treatment' there is a maintenance program you need to follow. You dont just do iboga and your addiction is magickally gone for life. All it does it help you get thru the withdrawal phase. Then youre on your own to stay sober. Taking iboga on a reg basis is ridiculous.
