As an autistic, I went to an outdoor festival and took E. It was mind blowing - I saw, in slow motion, how people interact, communicate with body language, all the social clues were so obvious. I was able to look into people's eyes for the first time! I will never forget that experience

Same. Though my Autism was undiagnosed then (42 now), rolling was the only time I felt "normal"; having the confidence and wherewithal to socialize in any setting with (almost) anyone while exercising full control over my body: facial expressions, gait; hell even my dancing wasn't half-bad sometimes.
      It was empowering!
Unfortunately, the experience being irresistible and the appetite for more 'normality' insatiable, it became a habit indulged in too frequently, and there's a price to pay for saturating your brain with serotonin on a regular basis. Plus, the tabs themselves were becoming adulterated post-2002-ish and I ended up poisoning myself.
I no longer possess my once impressive faculty for math, and now speak haltingly when searching for words which once came so quickly and naturally to weave eloquent, if aspberger's-shaded diction.
But hey, I got a precious daughter out of the bargain. I wouldn't have met her mom had I not been partying.
Don't damage that beautiful brain of yours!

I've been a drug addict my whole life, started sniffing airplane model glue in 1968, I was 8, followed by weed, of coarse alcohol, hash, acid, mescaline, shrooms, speed, cocaine, heroin, in about that order. It's the heroin that takes the most from you, I was a hard worker, a functioning addict, but again the heroin made it near impossible to keep steady control, it just consumes you, every thought is next hit, I'm 62 now, have no idea how I've survived the countless od's, on a suboxone program, it's saved me, although I still freebase cocaine, it's crack with the baking soda cooked out, brings cocaine back to it paste form basically, pure. Drugs have taken all from me, family, I'm completely isolated, I don't feel sorry for myself but I love my family and their not around. I never talk about this, I'm sorry to bore you if you've read this but I actually feels kinda freeing to print out my story. Good luck 🙏

I used to play at the huge clubs on Delaware Ave. At 40 on my birthday after going through an 8-ball, and watching my friends drop like flies I knew it was time to stop. Over 70% of my friends as well as my younger sister are now dead. A good friend of mine just died last week. Dont kid yourself. A functional drug user is still a drug user. I'm an ex-full-time partyer, been and done it all a thousand times over, now I'm an addictions counsellor. I'm not against drugs or drug taking, it'd be very hypocritical if I was. The important questions to answer for me is this: What are the most important things in your life? How are those things affected by your use?
If the answer is that the important things (relationships, job, kids, health, mental health etc) are being negatively affected then it's time to reevaluate. I can assure you that just because you stop using doesn't mean you stop living. I'm happier now than I ever was when I was using, and it's real.

As long as you're cool and understand the culture people will be cool to you.
The only time I saw someone who was older who was shunned was this dude who was obviously there just to pick up girls and didn't know anything about rave scene culture. Stuck out like a sore thumb.
Start with the artists you really really love and go to those shows and make friends from there. It'll be easier that way because you'll have a good reason to be there: You're going to see one of your favorite artists. 🤷 Also festival culture is great immersion too.
So yeah, go for the music and everything else will kinda fall into place. If LOVE EDM I think you'll find a group of people as excited about it as you are. Everything else with like drug culture is just a side show to the main event.

thats the best and easiest way to quit i find, i quit weed and alcohol that way when it just wasn't fun anymore, smoking is the only thing i struggle with quitting, but i have never been a huge smoker, no more than 8-10 a day and i can get by on 4 a day without much issue, but totally quitting is hard and most of the issue comes from boredom and habit and not addiction, i spent 5 days in hospital a few years ago and they gave me a nicotine patch the first day and i never asked for another after that one, i found it didnt make me feel any better and i didnt feel any worse without it, but i was distracted the whole time i was there, boredom has been the source of almost all my desires through life to consume drugs, part of it was also depression when i was younger but i got over that when i found out i had ADHD and that was what was causing my despression since it took away my ability to focus and also my energy.

I say regardless of the negative impacts that these ppl are very aware of, they are happy, they are living exciting lives instead of just getting old and dying from old age! I support this 💯, especially bc I myself am a lifetime raver, I started in 1995, almost 30yrs ago! I love this!

@alicewolfson4423 same age here and riding my KTM Duke to raves and rock festivals where I get more stoned than when I was young and a hippy in the times of sex, drugs and rock&roll. Of course, I'm not crazy, so, for instance, I eat space cookies instead of smoking joints, and I never begin with coke, although I usually have a bit for later in the night. My preferred drugs are pot, MDMA, DMT, acid when available, and coke, although not much, like a couple of grams for a week long rave like the Boom.
I certainly know that any day in one of my 6 to 12 hours dancing, I can have an heart attack or whatever, but that would be *good*, nor bad for me, as I don't want to end like a vegetable in a parking for old farts. 😀

What scares me most about the scene today is the prevalence of fentanyl in street drugs, especially where I live. It's sooo easy to mix the drugs wrong, leaving "hot spots" in a batch no matter how hard you try. When the difference between life and death is literally the weight of a grain of rice, you can see how easy it is to overdose.

Even when they went out it looked so depressing and isolated he couldn't make eye contact with her as she interviewed him, just staring straight ahead. When she began to ask about potential trauma he began to rub his left hand and move it about. I know those movements from my own experiences, he looked like he was having a freak out and was feeling it in his left arm, which could mean he was feeling like he was having heart problems. Of course I could be projecting but it brought me back to my last days i felt that panic again and my heart went out to him in that clip.

As someone who once upon a time lived this life for far more than a decade, I got bored of it after many many enjoyable years that definitely had an impact on my life and my sobriety. It’s definitely a part of my life that was the most fun and exciting, with long-standing friendships with some excellent excellent humans that spans across the world. Most of them are either still active in a more measured way or it’s still their lifestyle. Even fewer, like me, choose sobriety and while I love me a bangin sunrise set when I get the chance, I’m nourishing my soul in more sustainable ways that work for me. I still love to find new EM, and chase the bass, that will always remain. 🎵

I am a former partier who’s been sober for double digits and partied at underground raves in the 90s. Our bodies, particularly our brains, are not impervious to damage. For example I hardly remember anything that happened from the years when I smoked weed all the time, like when me and my bff first clicked, stuff like that. Also when I later confronted my Deeper emotional issues in therapy, I almost immediately stopped clicking with people in the scene. It’s fundamentally escapism, and as long as you don’t want to confront how you really feel you will enjoy partying and doing drugs, which as she said is your choice, but there are long term consequences.

Both of them seemed to be supercharged with mdma, a much higher dose than normal so I split them in 3 portions and took 1/3rd per hour. I ended up just getting a nice energy boost everytime , got throughout the night enjoying the forest and the sets and went back home the other morning with a smooth comedown and a big smile over how nice that night was. I used to got to alot of parties between 2005 and 2009 and I also took alot of drugs in private settings. Aside from smoking weed, I used to love and I mean LOVE ecstasy. I was also very into acid and mushrooms. A problem started to come along when I could not get high on ecstasy without feeling the comedown even during the high. I just could'nt do it without that horrible feeling creeping in almost instantly. The comedowns started lasting weeks and I had started getting sleep paralysis. I tried it again a few times in 2015 but the comedowns were too much for me.
As for psychedelics I had to stop that too. After I had a sort of out of body experience I began feeling I was starting to "know too much" and it really scared me. It's probably for the best I stopped but I do miss those 4 years before it went pear shaped. One thing I don't miss is that feeling when you are laid in bed the "morning" after, absolutely exhausted but unable to sleep with only that horrible feeling of emptiness and anxiety for company. Unfortunately for me it's definitely not worth it any more.

I had that same feeling after years of taking ccc or coricidin cough and cold. I was having to take 32 at a time twice a day to feel anything and eventually just the taste of the outside coating of that pill would make my throat try to close up when i would try and swallow them. I moved to delsym because of that and was measuring out teaspoons to equal 32 of them because each spoonful is the same as 1 pill. Now i cant taste orange or grape without the throat doing that closing/ gag. The delsym is so nasty its got a gritty thickness to it. Blah. Eventually it completely stopped giving that "happiness of a child" feeling.... and just gave me a feeling of complete dread and anxiety so i stopped and havent taken any bn in about 6 or 7 years. I recently tried mushrooms and they didnt even work... just the feeeling of impending doom and weird geometric visuals of an outline if a woman holding a blooming lotus or water lily. After that i decided that i should stop because i most likely used up every little drop of serotonin left in my body so from now on its just psychedelic induced anxiety. And that isn't fun.... at all. 💝

I’m not surprised that most of them are still going. I feel like the main concerns with drug abuse are 1) what if the person dies too young or 2) their bodies decline so much that they can know longer function physically and/or mentally? Their drug abuse definitely isn’t something to be admired but all of the folks featured in this video have already lived this long and retained enough mental & motor capabilities to STILL enjoy these wild ass parties. Even if they died the next week, it could still be argued that they had long, pretty full lives before they went. So I honestly don’t blame them

The blokes best mate literally died from it and they carried on without hesitation taking drugs

The main problem with drug use and abuse is it's usually (almost always) a form of escapism. And as with everything in life, when you prioritise expedience and getting high and escapism instead of actually facing up to your issues, and the undertaking of voluntary responsibility, long-term you pay the price. Not just in terms of health (physical health), in fact much more importantly than that, you pay the price in terms of being nihilistic and goalless (which certainly affects your mental health). What an empty, pointless existence. You could put across the very vague and superficial argument of 'having a good time', but that's kind of meaningless and doesn't stand up to scrutiny. If you've ever done drugs or partied and then 'wised up', you'll realise it's all relative, it doesn't bring about any pleasure long-term. Only when it's in contrast to a more serious side of existence can it be worthy of inclusion in moderation. On it's own, it'd soon become not just chore-like, but dark and depressing. I can't help but think people like this, while putting a brave face on it for their own egos, are hiding from their dark demons. I'm not a naysayer, just a realist.

It ended when my body told me in Medellin Colombia, that I'm going to have a stroke if I keep doing this stuff. I listened and don't mess with it anymore. I was never addicted, but messed with it off and on since 1979

As an autistic with asd, lsd made my mind open up. I forgave myself and also came to understand peoples emotions and words much better on the drug than without. I was happy, so happy and I felt normal and full of love. I wont ever forget download 2018 🙏.

45 here, former rave producer and ocasionally DJing nowdays. One thing I miss for sure is the real good electronic music from 20 years ago and back, not the EDM popy tunes but the mental beats that really made you dance. Times changes, beats changes

I agree I used to rave back in early 2000s and the music was so different. I was into trance, old tiesto, armin, Paul oakenfold, PVD, etc. Don’t Larry like that anymore but those were some of my funnest times a a young adult.
