Hi thanks again for those good informations. I have gray hair and i always wondered why do they grow towards the front so everyone can see them? I am over 40, are they premature or I can still reverse them? Since I have started to wash my hair once a week 3 months ago, I have noticed some thickness but they have not grown as fast as usual. Wich is not a problem because I needed that thickness. I will try to go for twice a month to see if i will have both "length retention +thickness". I usually take a few hours for myself as I always been started with a hair mask which i leave for 45mn under a heat casque ". I love it so far and lets hope that it continues this way.

Gray hair is like a rebellious child, it wants to do what it wants to, when it wants to, how it wants to and make you want to drink something other than Kool aid. It's rude, disrespectful and has a mind of it's own. It actually changes all the natural hair rules, some days I love it some days I don't, so I just let it do what it's gonna do.

I am a twice a week deep condition person. I shampoo, tea rinse, and deep condition on Sunday and do a cowash with a deep condition on Wednesday or Thursday. I take vitamin D, iron, b12 daily. I experienced severe damage about three years back, I have been following this schedule religiously and now my hair is crazy healthy and upper back length. I don’t use heat more than a few times a year and I relax my hair about three times per year.also for gray hair, the tea rinse which has chamomile and fenugreek, changes the grays to like a gold color on my hair, and I also hot oil treat once per week with amla oil which turns the hair a rich dark color and covers grays nicely. I still have a few grays but they are more gold than white.

I wash routine is once a month. I enjoy pampering my hair and myself. I started going gray about 5 years ago. So I have a hombre thing going on. The ends are brown, but the roots start out grey then 2 inches in go blonde. People always think I've dyed my hair, but I've been chemical free for 20 years. My hair has gotten softer as I have gotten older, so blowouts are a treat 2 twice a year but never last longer than 2 weeks. Protected style under a wig or a wrap. Internally I take MSM and ACED vitamins. And my hair length is pass my bra strap! I enjoy your videos, very informative. Thanks

I was born with gray hair and I never had a problem with it. I just noticed the pattern is looser. I do drink a lot of water as a habit. And I’ve been following your (or someone’s) routine. Deep condition once a week with oils n LOC 2/3x a week. I love my wash day.

Thank you for the tips! My 4c grey is super white and dry. In one video you recommended a protein treatment. I did mayo, egg & honey. Amazing! Soft, shiny, beautiful. I shampoo every 2 weeks with an overnight pre-poo, moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, a bit of oil & old fashioned hair grease. Also following your advise on checking ingredients. I appreciate what you're doing. It really works!! Looking forward to purchasing both books! You are the best!

In my 20s, My hair started going white...not grey...in whole sections at a time, not individual hairs. Now in my late 50s it's almost completely white on the sides and on top. The high porosity white hair needs protein, protein protein...then moisture...to stop breakage.

I wash my hair once a week on Saturday. My wash day is a part of me pampering myself. I have 4 kids (2 month old, 2-year-old, 8-year-old, and a 12-year-old) and they keep me busy! Wash day is my time to wind down and relax before the beginning of a new week.

I didn't start going grey until high school. It was just a small patch in the front. Now it' mostly in my scalp and the front of my hair. I drink lots of water. I love Fiji water and Essentia. I make DIY mask and use other mask. I have always incorporated chocolate and peppermint mask into my regiment. I wash my hair every two weeks. And I get excited to watch my hair. Because it always turns out great. So soft and moisturized. I try to switch up my mask. I make my own oil. And I notice when I do the oil rinsing my hair loves that. It stays moisturize for days. And I take my vitamin D and iron. Plus I workout as well.

I have salt and pepper hair, 3c and 4b hair. It is thin, can be dry. I wash and deep condition my hair once a week. I use Aunt Jackies moisturinzing shampoo, followed by the Shea Moisture mask. I may sleep in the mask all night and rinse my hair in the morning. To finish, I use a Shea Moisture leave in on my curly ends and seal with either an Jojoba or Avacado oil. I finish with a two strand twist and let my hair air dry. I'm starting to spray my hair wet every other day and applying a bit more oil to seal as my hair drinks it up.

I have put much of your advice on this channel into practice. I'm about 20% grey and have long wavy (2b), high porosity hair. I wash my scalp every day. I have rosacea and tend toward scalp dermatitis so I need to wash my scalp to keep inflammation at bay. I love my hair routine, I use Vanicream shampoo and conditioner because of my sensitivity to fragrance, and other ingredients. If my scalp is feeling dry I mix in a bit of mineral oil as I wash focusing always on my scalp. I take your advise on P.M.P. method doing it 1x per week, and use coconut oil layered with Vaseline on top of it on my strands about 2 times a week before I wash. This routine saved my scalp and hair. I started the journey 3 years ago with stopping hair dye, this started the healing of my scalp and my hair started to grow back. Please do more videos on caring for scalp and hair as we age. Part of natural hair life is grey/white/silver hair and it can be so beautiful when cared for and growing from a healthy scalp. Love your channel!

Love the info about gray hair! I have a few patches and it irritates the mess out of me I can't get them to lay down during styling. I've also noticed my gray hair strands are shorter than the non-gray ones. I wash my hair bi-weekly due to time. I don't believe in rushing through the process, so I'd rather take more time and get a better result than doing it once a week and feeling rushed. I hate my wash days until I start seeing the finished style. It's worth it every time!

My regimen that works to reduce dry scalp and keep my gray hair vibrate:
    1. Wash my hair every 4-5 days if I am doing in a wash and go. This is mostly for the summer weather. This also if I just had a fresh trim. I alternate with deep conditioning or use a rinse out softening conditioner that has the instructions leave on for 5 mins
    2. Washing my hair every 7-10days and styling them in twist. I blow dry it and then twist with foam mousee.
    3. Deep condition every 10 days. If my hair is shedding I do protein or green tea rinse but other wise I use moisturize deep conditioner
    4. Every other month use a purple shampoo and conditioner to keep my grays looking white. Good brand is Amika line for blonde/grey hair
This frequency over time just makes my hair more manageable and wash day is much quicker and I can catch scalp issues and split ends sooner

So now in watching this, and I do have Grey hair, would you do a Holy Grail for Grey hair? I do dye my hair, but thinking about letting it grow out and even remove the dye. Thanks again. Take care and be safe please. 👋🏽😊

Thank you so much. Your video was so timely. I've been dying my greys....but it doesn't last very long. So, I've decided to embrace/accept and give-in to the Grey hair and let it be.
    😅

Thank you for this, the struggle is more intense for grey/white hair. Wash & deep condition every 2 weeks, protein treatment every 5 weeks. Attitude - Seize the moment, get it done! 🤩 Will try hair mask at least once a month

I love wash day. I do it once/week. Pretty much after all my chores and Saturday duties are done...from pre-poo to wash to condition and I just started masking. Most of the time I blow dry w/cool air...sometimes i just twist it wet. But wash day is the few hours of self care that I give to my hair once/week, like i give to my face 2x a day every day.

Yes absolutely enjoyed this video. The information is on point!!!
A: my wash routine is on as needed basis. Usually works out between every 2-4 weeks.
Q: are the purple shampoos really necessary for grey hair?

  • @IndigooceanOrg
    @IndigooceanOrg 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

My frequency varies a lot. Sometimes weekly, sometimes bi-weekly, even 3-4 weeks sometimes. It really depends on when my hair feels like it needs to be cleaned or when I just want to try a new style or product out. It definitely seems that the less frequently I was my hair the healthier it is. But the greys are not doing as well as the rest of my hair so have to try something new for them.

I wash my hair every two weeks, sometimes I’m excited about my wash day and sometimes I dread it because my hair is high porosity and the struggle of detangling is a job , and also I always have to incorporate a protein treatment, which my hair loves because of the breakage I experience and having fine strands, and my moisture cycle is once a day, it work for for hair and the hydrating moisture masque really helps me to maintain that moisture I need for my hair type. My favorite hair mask is TGIN Rose Water Hydration Hair Masque, my hair love it.

I wash my hair once a week but this last time I waited two weeks. As long as I do my hair in the morning I’m motivated. But the later it gets in the day the less likely I’ll do it.

Thank you for this video. I color my my gray hair. However last year I bleached it and went blond. By doing this I have found my hair is now high porosity. My best friend has been products with marshmallow root, slippery elm, aloe Vera and of course water at the top of the list. I use a moisturizing shampoo. Alternate every 2 weeks between a moisturizing conditioner and a good moisture/protein conditioner, a leave in with water, slippery elm and marshmallow root and aloe vera then a styler with those same ingredients. I then seal with a heavier oil such as avocado or olive oil. Light weight oil like sweet almond does nothing but guarantee I will have dry hair later. My refresher spray also has the same ingredients. I use it about every 2 days. I also started wearing my hair in twists so the moisture would not escape as quickly. When I switched to this regimen I began to see a big difference in my dry hair. Ingredients matter. BTW I was my hair 7-10 days. I use a moisturizing shampoo and clarifying shampoo in 3 to 1 intervals.

Lovvvveeeee your channel as far as wash day in the summer I wash once a week and winter 10-14 days but primarily two weeks in the winter…normally extremely excited it’s a day to self care or pamper the only time Im not excited is if I’m rushing…..I love hair talk I got my first gray hair at 14 and I’m 47 it’s coming slowly but surely but I’m kind of enjoying the transition also as I’m aging I don’t tan as dark as I used to I’m pretty fair skin so I’m losing melanin in my skin as well 😒

I wash my hair every 6 to 8 days depending on what's going on in my life. I take washing my hair as something that has to be done on a regular bases just like taking a shower everyday. Thanks for the info on grey hair, I am currently struggling with mine and needed this advice. What is you thought on using henna for coloring grey hair?

I wash my hair every 2 weeks. In the past I dreaded wash days.
Now I enjoy it because I am on a mission to get my hair back to a healthier state since I stopped relaxing it in 2019.
I cut off the damage in 2021.

I hadn't watched this video yet but want to thank you for giving us your knowledge on the science of gray hair. I'm in my 50's and I don't have gray hair. My 38 yr old sister has gray hair. I know hydrogen peroxide determines some of the reason. Thank you again now I'm going to watch the video.

This was so helpful. My hair is predominantly grey but I use Henna to cover it. Doesn't negate the fact that it's technically grey. I feel like the hair in my crown area is the hardest to manage. Looks like I need to add moisture more often. Thanks for sharing these tips.

I was wondering how much is shipping to Portland Oregon (want your new book). I really appreciate this video because I've tried what seems like everything for my hair. I just don't know what's best from hydration moisture to sealing my low porosity graying dry hair.

I have just decided to accept this SILVER!! Color would be a $$ nightmare!! I have tried to get to a longer wash time and my hair is not haven't it so, every weekend, this is my oil ( coconut) separate wash ( some kinda shampoo with hydration attached to its title, condition with hydration attached, diy oil with a fenegreek/ green tea, rosemary spritz and towel try. No heat then 2strand twists. The temperature is over 80°now so hydration is a must. Thanks for the vid. It helps to stay on track 💪🏾

Thank you for this. My gray hair feels debilitating its dry brittle and its not attractive and looks like Sam Jackson’s hair in Django.
I would prefer my natural hair color but the feel & look is 😢😢😢 I’ll try your advice.

This is a great video! I started getting gray hair in my early twenties. My hair is salt and pepper in my early fifties. My hairstylist does a temporary gloss on my hair. The gloss helps keep my hair strong. And it also highlights my gray like I got color in my hair.
As for the questions, I wash my hair once a week with a hydrating moisturizer shampoo and conditioner. Since my hair is fine I use a leave-in conditioner, defining curl cream and seal with a light oil.

I have 1 to 2 wash days a week and I don't go any longer than three days before getting my hair totally soaking wet (cowashing or shampoo). I don't mind wash days because for me, they are relatively quick (no more than an hour, including styling and showering my body). I do try to do an Olaplex bond treatment at least once a month, so when I do that, it's a little bit longer, but only if I sit under the dryer, which I tend not to do. Having finally grown out the midstrand knots, maintaining regular trims , and shaping my hair twice a year have all made my wash days SO MUCH SIMPLER; my hair falls into place whether I do a WNG or a twistout, and there's little to no tangling when wet or dry.
