Cambodia is changing so fast right now. Sihanoukville has been ruined by Chinese casinos and it looks like Phnom Penh might start going the same way.
If you want to enjoy Phnom Penh as it is now do so quickly, as I expect in the near future there will be big changes and prices for everything will go up sharply.

There is a huge amount of construction happening in PP these days. There were so many "green" buildings I could see from the plane window last time I was flying in.

Hi, I am going to Cambodia soon. Any advice about changing starlings pounds to local currency please. from ATM machine, do they dispense US dollar as well as local currency ?. Many thanks in advance. David.
Most transactions are done In US dollars, and all 90% of atms will dispense in US dollars as well as the local currency
My advice, just convert your pounds to dollars. If you convert pounds to the local currency, even 100 British pounds will be a knapsack full of Cambodian notes. Easy to lose track when you paying in such small denominatons like that. Better to use dollars
90 plus percent of ATM`s dispense US currency , maximum is 500us plus a atm fee app $4.50 , beware tho as the machines will give you $100 notes very hard to pay at small local shops or change $100s at a local currency dealer , plenty around , and get small denomination (plenty of 1 - 5 -10 - 20 dollar notes, c-cards only at some shops at major malls , enjoy...

You stayed right near where i was couple years back. Its always noisy there, everywhere in SE Asia is noisy !!! Street kids / beggars - always avoid them no matter who they are. Why the fuck would u want to stay in a flea bitten gungy hostel full of backpakkers for ??? I paid 18$ in SR and 20$ in PP to stay in a fantastic hotel, with breakfast !!! . Street food is always the best. Western food in Asia ??? meh never any good. Prices are $US. Yes that did shock me in PP, lots of the wacky tabaccy around. Great vid really enjoyed it :)
