The downside to running Library is it doesn't tap for colored mana and that's it, the upside is it can completely run away with the game. Why is there debate about it being good or not?
The question is not "is it good" it's "how good is it." I agree low opportunity cost is a strong argument (and I think library is very strong), but boseju has even lower an opportunity cost yet it's not a high pick in vintage cube.
look library is amazing in slow decks, in fast decks it just isn´t. You are overlooking an important part here, you have to have 7 cards in hand, and too often that means you don´t play a spell you absolutely should. Vintage cube in general is too fast for library, just like constructed uses it not that much.
@@daftwulli6145that’s just not true. one of the best starts mono white or boros can have is turn 1 library and then curve out 1 turn late. by the time you’re casting multiple spells a turn library has drawn several cards and counteracted the biggest problem those decks have which is running out of resources in the face of a more efficient deck
i guess im just a library pervert. i still fully believe the card is bananas for the exact reason patrick described it - very low opportunity cost for a card that can win the game on its own
I mean if there are cards that are far better for their deck if it is like pack 2 or 3 i would pick those, but in LSVs cube drafts for instance I don't think I've ever seen it wheel.
Pack 1 it should probably be going around 3rd or 4th in an average pack, but it can definitely slide in packs 2 or 3. A lot more cards move above it once you know your archetype.

People routinely underestimate cards with a low opportunity cost. Lutri is another one that goes way too late in cube drafts.

i would be skeptical of any list that dosnt have library top 20. not even top 50 is deranged
Library should rarely be picked later than, like, 4th then? I see many content creators not even pick it 5th or 6th, no?
