As I grow all my eggs on a chicken bush... sometimes fresh is too fresh where boiled egg peeling becomes a chore losing half the egg in the process. Older eggs are better for boiling as in deviled eggs... Speaking of older. Many eggs in the store are one month old by the time they reach the grocers shelf... and another month setting on the grocers shelf or cooler. In Europe the do not refrigerate eggs and set on a shelf next to your cereal as they are unwashed. Eggs have a 'bloom' placed there by nature protecting the contents for great periods of time. You wash them, then refrigerate them, for a shorter lifespan. The only reason too... The float test works, but as with all things. A maybe if... have seen bad eggs sink. The nose knows.👃

I've discovered that steaming your eggs makes them much easier to peel. Steam for 12 minutes, let them sit for 12 off heat with lid on, then ice bath and peel. I now have about a 95% success rate peeling steamed eggs.

@@daniellapan232 Have heard off it... could try it same pan and basket currently boil. In past have always just boiled from cold water till green yoke... not a joke. Knew nothing of ice bath... Today have kinda fine tuned due to Internet advice of chicken wranglers. 15 minutes in boiling water timing at reboiling... Ice though have an maker at work. Have no freezer room... Sometimes will put rinse water in fridge overnight, other times and mostly. Just fill rinse pan with cold well water. Drop in basket and run water for about fifteen minutes, let set maybe an hour. Then drain and place in fridge overnight, would say 95% plus percentage. Trick is an ice cold egg at peeling... doing some now. Dogs have come to hate eggs.🐓

Spin it! If it's gone off, it will spin like a top. If it may be edible, the spin will be irregular and sluggish.
Hard boiled eggs also spin quickly, and if you boiled it yourself, it's probably safe.

Always go by the sell by date or a sulfur smell. If fresh eggs and you don't wash they will last longer. Still wouldn't go past 30 days. Nvr had a problem.
