New sub here from Oklahoma, I just purchased a horse trailer for $500 just like this one and it needs some repairs and when I searched your video popped up. Great series and can't wait to watch more.
We fixed one up and had it repainted. It looked fabulous. Then my son backed his car out by it with his back door open. The car moved the trailer and exposed the fact that it had no structure holding the thing together - just paint. So grateful to have found out before something happened with a horse inside. A man bought the rust bucket and used it to haul hay.
Looks just like mine only in better condition before. Mine is a 1972 Stedem(sp?) built in Oklahoma. In its day it was quite the work horse for us. Off to shows and hauling furniture.
Just found an old horse trailer in need of heavy duty work. No floor, rust in and out, tires-wheels. I believe it has potential if I can figure out where to start. Otherwise to the shop
I'm really not an expert on horse trailers, so my answer may not be what you are looking for but... I would probably try to go with a piece of plexiglass. You can get it thin enough to make the bends on the round portion on the front of the trailer. Sorry I couldn't be more help to ya.
I’m hopefully getting a cool opportunity to restore a horse trailer and windows I’ve been shopping for, so far Amazon had the best price, I am also learning windows from RV’s could be used if they are the correct size. I am all about budget and saving money lol try your local junk yard or recycling yards you will be pleasantly surprised what can be found there at really good prices. I hope this helps, happy restoring!

What do you do with rust? Paint over, special paint?
I use a wire wheel on a drill to get into the cracks and crevices and then sand it down with a sander. Then spray it with primer and then paint.
any idea where to get replacement window? noticed you are missing same one as me
I don't, sorry. Horse trailers are not my specialty so I'm unfamiliar with parts etc.

Wowza that’s got some cancer on the inside. Previous owner never shoulda put OSB. It’ll just rot.

Love the work. Hate the music.
