HEYY dartmouth’s regular decision deadline has been extended to January 5th so if you were thinking about applying and didn’t this is a sign you should apply js
Early in April, I began my search for potential colleges and was fortunate enough to stumble upon this video. Ever since, I've been in love with Dartmouth and everything it has to offer. I'm super excited to now be apart of the class of 2024, and I'm beyond thankful for you and this video; otherwise, I likely would not have found this beautiful place I'm proud to now call home.
From the South, down here everybody's about the big state school football rivalries. South Carolina vs Clemson, UNC vs Duke, UGA vs Florida, etc etc etc
I’m from Maine and a lot of people rep Harvard gear and Patriots stuff. It’s actually very strange because I see no one wearing Bowdoin, Bates, or Colby things. It’s usually BU, BC, Harvard, and MIT. So basically, Maine is Massachusetts.
I’m from Maine. It really depends on the part of Maine. Southern Maine is really just Northern Massachusetts and most of the people there aren’t from Maine. Northern Maine is very different and you will see more of a connection to Maine rather than New England
Dartmouth '17 here! CONGRATS girl, you're going to love it so much. I would do it all again if I could! Take advantage of all of the great research opportunities, jump into new experiences, and have fun! If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
I really appreciated this video, I live in the West coast so I haven't gotten the opportunity to tour at Dartmouth, but you described it just as I imagined it. I just turned in my regular decision application, with a great deal of luck maybe I'll be a member of '22 also!
So nice to hear that you're so excited! My sister went to Dartmouth (class of 2007 so quite a while ago) and she adored it. I really hope you have a fantastic time there1
wow, i love this a lot. your thoughts/experiences with dartmouth remind me of what i went through with my college. have fun at your home away from home!
Coming from an old New England family I'll point out Hannah that Dartmouth was originally called Moor's Indian Charity School and it was in Connecticut. The plan was to collect Indian boys and educate them in the Congregational Church of the day and let them go back out among their tribes and become missionaries. Then the man with the money stepped in and it became Dartmouth and moved to New Hampshire. All these years later it has maintained the highest education standards, so you picked a winner! To get a better feel for the times rent the movie "Last of the Mohecans." Written by James Fenimore Cooper, who grew up in Cooperstown, NY, and as a young man heard the stories of soldiers who fought in the areas around Dartmouth and the corridor between Albany and Montreal. Cooper really had a grasp of the history of the English and the Indians in those colonial days. It makes you very proud to be in that school. Rev. Wheelock and Rev. Pomeroy, the founders, certainly would be proud of you.
This video was recommended after a "meet the 22's" video that Dartmouth just sent to the alumni, and may I say it gave me all kinds of warm recollections for the way I felt when I fell in love with Dartmouth as you did. Congratulations, and I hope you've been enjoying your time there! -A Dartmouth '12
I'm from New Hampshire (where most of MA goes for any vacation or long weekend) and tbh I thought you were gonna say that the third defining feature of MA was Dunkin's, but even Dunks goes back to the Patriots! Congrats on Dartmouth!
So happy for you and that you found a great fit for you. My son didn’t tour Dartmouth cus his upperclassman went there and said it was so isolated and literally nothing to do so the greek and frat life is so prominent and lots of drinking. It’s really great college though, closest to the liberal art colleges in that it’s small and focuses on undergrad. It’s a personal choice and good luck there! You seem like a very intelligent young lady. He is at Swarthmore College now class of 2021.
Dartmouth is so pretty! My grandparents live like 45 minutes away from campus and I would always visit when I was a little. Too bad they don't have my major, or I definitely would've applied! Congrats girl!
So excited for you! I'm currently a' 21 at Dartmouth and I've loved every second of it! If you have any questions feel free to find me on facebook or hit me up here! Welcome to the family! GBG!
I'm in the Princeton GroupMe and I just sat there watching that whole thing go down 😂😂😂 (I later watched them go into the Harvard GroupMe and they have a guy in there from admissions and he was kinda scary)
Regular Decision deadlines are just a few days away! Let me know if you want any advice, tips, or want to see an entire video covering a specific topic :D (...go big green!)
If possible, could you make a video on your stats or any classes you took that you believe helped you get into Dartmouth. I am a freshman in high school planning to do something with science or potentially a medical path. Your video on the AP Bio exam and class was extremely helpful, as I am taking the class next year. I love the content on your channel and congratulations on Dartmouth!
My 12th great grandfather was the grandfather of the founder Eleazer Wheelock. On my mom's side I'm a distant cousin of Colixa Paquet dit Lavallee who composed the Canadian Anthem and composed "La Papilla"
I’m super late, but what you said about people repping Harvard elsewhere is entirely true. I live in the south (NC) and I don’t go a day of school at my 3000+ student campus without seeing Harvard paraphernalia. It’s like a trend. Anyway, congrats on getting into your dream school. I can tell you deserve it.
Hey Hannah! I'm a 21' , and I just happened to stumble upon your video. First of all, WELCOME TO THE FAMILY. The "meets 100% of financial need" requirement was definitely a top priority for me, so I totally understood where you were coming from. I ED-ed after having visited the campus once. I did not visit any other schools just 'cause I felt so comfortable here. I know that might sound crazy, but there's not a day that I regret my decision. I freaking love it here so so so much (even though winter right now is COLD AF). I remember wishing I could freely tell people all the reasons why I chose the school and why it's so great, so I really appreciate your video :) If you have any questions about anything relating to D, feel free to PM me. P.S Don't worry, there are tons of people here who are not into winter sports (or winter in general, lol). Hope to see you on campus soon! -Juanita
This was a great video; I loved your explanation of all the Ivies you visited. And congratulations on Dartmouth! I wanted to know what were all the colleges you actually applied to. I’m assuming you were still able to apply regular decision to all the others.
Mya Wiley I committed to dartmouth weeks before the regular decision application deadline so there was no need for me to apply to other schools (moreover, any school that I would have applied to regular decision would have been notified of my binding early decision admission anyway) I just applied to dartmouth and two of my state schools (early) which I did get accepted to with honors :)
!! "meet 100% demonstrated need without loans" !! - as a parent evaluating what schools we can afford, going through the process of entering our tax return & personal finance data into the detailed net price calculators for multiple colleges, I can tell your audience (you probably discovered this yourself if you applied to more than Dartmouth), and have confirmed with our school's college counselor, that each school's definition of "demonstrated need" (and therefore the resulting Expected Family Contribution) varies greatly. Though they all use FAFSA, they also use CSS, which allows them to customize their approach to the definition - It appears that some focus on annual income while others focus on net worth, etc. etc. I come up with a fairly consistent Net Price/Expected Family Contribution in the $9k-$15k range for a decent sampling of colleges that seem to fit our daughter's interests (Dartmouth, Stanford, Yale, Vanderbilt), but when I do the same for Brown, I come up with $23k. Per our college counselor, she's had one student whose Expected Family Contributions at three schools were as follows: Stanford $2k, Brown $11k, NYU $21k - that's a huge range among schools that all claim to "meet 100% demonstrated need without loans". I love your videos, btw - you, Joelle, & Josh do a great job of representing Dartmouth on YT - I think Dartmouth would be a great fit for our daughter, who is at the top of her class, loves science & especially languages (will graduate with the equivalent of at least 13 language credits, Latin 3, Spanish 6, and Mandarin 4). The student population is in an acceptable range, but she thinks the town is too small. maybe your comments about city size (and an in-person visit if covid and our finances allow) will change her mind. Currently, Yale and Vandy are at the top of her list and even huge schools like Auburn (in-state) & Ohio State (where her grandfather lives) aren't too large to suit her (but per net price calculators, Yale/Vandy/Dartmouth/Stanford are more affordable for us than state schools unless she receives additional scholarships above the ones for which she automatically qualifies given her gpa & ACT score.
First, I love your videos.👏 Second, I'm in the same situation with you; financial aid and Dartmouth is my first choice too but I don't want to be in debt. Did Dartmouth pay for all your expenses such as room, board, tuition?
thank you! dartmouth gave me the equivalent of full tuition and housing (and no loans!!). The small fraction I have to pay for other costs I think I can easily cover with local scholarships and a part time job over the summer :)
12:32 as an international student from a county very far form thé us i do see people in classes wearing Harvard merch so I guess tis an international trend
How has the process been in trying to find a job or a career after you graduated Dartmouth? Was it a seamless transition? Did Dartmouth help make that possible….or was it more friends or through internships?
Sahar Mithani I did have an interview! I’ll probably make a vid about interviews later but my biggest tips would definitely be to be prepared for the basic questions, take the time to talk about the smaller things/projects/accomplishments that didn’t fit anywhere on the application, and don’t be nervous because it really is just a conversation :)
How did you change your mind about the Ivy League? I personally am not a big fan... but a lot of my friends and family want me to apply... any insight you could give?
I know for certain that if you get accepted to Harvard or MIT, the tuition fee can be waived. Financial aid is also available. Did you get MIT and not take it ?
I'm also from MA, and literally everyone wears Harvard stuff--me included. My school had decision day in May when all the seniors wore shirts from the colleges they were going to, and I, a completely oblivious sophomore, wore a Harvard shirt on decision day. Yikes.
HEYY dartmouth’s regular decision deadline has been extended to January 5th so if you were thinking about applying and didn’t this is a sign you should apply js
having an interview tomorrow 😎🤩🤩
I really love your editing and speaking style please upload in college

Hannah Likes Science [Hannah Burd] Hey what were your stats? SAT,ACT,GPA,etc. And which colleges did you get accepted/rejected to
OMG, I have almost had a heart attack at the moment of 12:35
Same here...LOL

Forget about Harvard because they are other schools like Hampton University that can make a difference in the lives of some graduates out there
Great video! I'm currently a junior from Massachusetts and I also want to ED to Dartmouth next year :)
congrats!! O really love the video set up a the mic. Your personality and enthusiasm is so natural!
Hannah I’m literally so obsessed with you this video was amazing and I can’t wait to meet you and yes

In Minnesota, EVERYBODY has UofMN gear and wears it out constantly

Arya Kadakia 💚
Congrats to you! Enjoy your time there. -A Dartmouth ‘12
I just found your channel and I love it.😆 can you do a video on your major and career goals?
In Indiana 1 of 10 people are wearing either Indiana, Purdue, or Notre Dame gear. I'm sure its the same everywhere.
LOL! I love that she told us about her hair!
Could you do a “reading my common app personal statement aloud” video before RD deadlines?
I live in NY and everyone wears harvard shirts
This was a great video; I loved your explanation of all the Ivies you visited. And congratulations on Dartmouth!

Also you kind of remind me a little bit of Mallory Rubin (she works as an editor and chief for The Ringer and The Ringer Podcast Network)
Heyyyy girl I saw r vid as suggested and just wanted to say congrats and welcome!! Haha
thanks joelle!! I love your videos haha
Love your vocabularies too!
Sooooo many people in my high school wear Harvard apparel and I’m from Connecticut. I think it’s a fashion trend, kinda like Led Zeppelin t-shirts
Ur so lucky!😓 I really want to study what your studying! X
First, I love your videos.👏 Second, I'm in the same situation with you; financial aid and Dartmouth is my first choice too but I don't want to be in debt. Did Dartmouth pay for all your expenses such as room, board, tuition?

Love these so much!
YAYYY WELCOME TO THE FAM
How has the process been in trying to find a job or a career after you graduated Dartmouth? Was it a seamless transition? Did Dartmouth help make that possible….or was it more friends or through internships?
Congrats!! I was wondering if you ever had to interview for dartmouth? If so, any tips?

My primary advice is to avoid alchohol when you go off to Dartmouth.
Hey Hannah!
I’m in grade 11 and I live in Canada where most applications are due before the start of grade 12. Is that the same in the States?
No. Current US senior still working on college apps haha
How did you change your mind about the Ivy League? I personally am not a big fan... but a lot of my friends and family want me to apply... any insight you could give?
Can you read your common app essay and Dartmouth supplements before the deadline?
Julie Maxey yes!
Tell me why I relate 100% to that home-isa feeling Dartmouth gives. Plus what’s the Dartmouth 22 groupme?
home-ish
the link is in the facebook group!
Well, now I guess I need to make a fb account.
don’t worry, i live in mexico and everyone wears harvard sweatshirts
Can you talk about what you wrote on your supplements?
do u still make a lot of vidoes hannah?
I felt the same way about Yale.
I know this might sound dumb but how do you visit colleges ? Do you just go or do they invite you ? If so how do you get invited?
Looovee these!!!
Welcome to Dartmouth!
i’m from Massachusetts too!!!!!! (Boston)
Can you do the sister Tag too?!!!
Any tips on studying for the sat/act besides taking lots of practice tests
Kahn academy
If I could pick a college to go to it would be Dartmouth.
Haha I’m from western Canada and about 1 in 10 people at my school have a Harvard sweater it’s crazy
Not the general public though
I'm from CT and _everyone_ wears Yale stuff.
Did you apply to MIT and Stanford after all even though they weren't the ones you had in mind?
I couldn't apply to Stanford because it was SCEA and I didn't apply early action to MIT mostly just because it wasn't on the common app lol
The Red Sox and don’t represent Massachusetts?
I know for certain that if you get accepted to Harvard or MIT, the tuition fee can be waived. Financial aid is also available. Did you get MIT and not take it ?
wlcsp I never ended up applying to MIT :)
Hannah Likes Science [Hannah Burd] Too bad. It's a great place to play frisbee with a little bit of science 😂🤣
I think people where Harvard because it is the OG school.
Put it is in the middle of nowhere right
