An FE bolts right in these cars ! Use the 292 motor mounts on the FE . A 4 or 5 spd or a c6 and go man go . I have a 55 hdt tp with a 406 4 spd 9 inch. Put together in the 70s . I have since added power disc brakes , vintage heat and air , elect wipers and I drive it ! Its not a chevy so every ones afraid of these cars . I love them !
The electronic ignition and flamethrower coil is the only way to go. My New to Me 55 Mercury Monterey 292 Y block runs like a top and the 12 volt conversion makes it start instantly!! It is the same platform as the Mercury. mine has 97k on the clock but 100% original! the old guy took great care of it.
Nice new car man, I love watching these videos with people getting survivor 55s and getting them going, discovering treasures, ect ect. I found several preserved newspapers from the 50s underneath the front seat in mine! I'd suggest concours parts if you need hard to get parts, they make just about every part for those cars new and old stock. This car is very similar to mine, I've got a 55 Fairlane Town Sedan with 35,000 miles and a 272. The interior is almost the same color as yous but it's got the factory Magic-Aire system.. not really any different then what yours has it just has a different control bezel and duct-work under the hood. These cars were actually pretty modern. You could get them with automatic 'Ford-o-Matic' transmissions, air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power seats, power windows, AM radio, foot-pumped 'See Clear' windshield washer sprayer (working on getting mine working now) these cars also had optional seat-belts though probably no one got them. I look forward to seeing your progress with this car.
Nice original definitely one to leave original.ive had a few of these cars. still have a 55. 2 door Victoria with a 428 and 4 speed really well built hot 🔥 rod. Had a 56. 2 door Victoria too black and white hot 🔥 rod too..it was stolen from me over a year and half ago fast car's. I know the culprits.what goes around comes around. carma!!
You could probably put 225/70x15 tires on it. This might give your '55 Ford a little of the Wide-Track architecture, of the 1959 Pontiac. I think that 1955 and '56 Chevrolets are sometimes restored, but seldom a '55 or '56 Ford. I would think that a '55 or '56 Ford, ought to be as good as a '55 or '56 Chevy.
very nice find and thank you for deciding to keep it as original as possible , I was 5 years old when that car came out ,my older brother actually owened a 55 ,four door custom line, yours is just a liitle bit cooler being a two door ,post.I notice yours does not have a radio, which is fine as thats how it was ordered. If it did have a radio,in my mind they were the neatest thing ever. The radio dial was round and I cant remember of any other vehicle that had a round radio other than some of the ,55 Mercury and Ford cars and some pick ups If you check out some cars shows ect,you will see what i mean. Also something I ran across in digging under the dash of a few of these over the years was that the little red light for gen and oil pressure warning does not have a bulb directly behind the indicator on the speedo cluster, the bulb pushes up from the bottom and if I remember right the bulb points straight up and the light is transfered up a couple of inches via a 90 deg bent piece of solid plastic / acrylic type soliid rod appx. 3/8 of and inch thick.Thought that was pretty ingeneous, years ahead of fibre optics.Hope some of this helps you understand your beautiful 55,dont worry you will figure out the oil bath air cleaner.
Aye man congrats on the car, I Had just bought one too last month. Been meaning to ask you, by any chance you know any websites I can buy parts from or anyone that could me with it?
Great original car! Very very hard to find in this condition. Definitely one to keep original! This is a time capsule back to 1955!
I have a 56 Customline. Great cars and glad to see it has the Yblock.
nice original. Definitely one to leave original. believe me!!

thanks man, i hope to get back into this one as soon as my LS build is done. Very soon!!
Nice. I just bought a 1950 ford deluxe for $6400 as my first car and next weekend I'm going to Ohio to get it and have it shipped home
I had one when I was 20yrs old an it will surprise with the way it will run
Years ago you could buy a pipe thatcame out the front of the driver's side and turn down below the motor ,then back. Just plug the other side.
