    I definitely think Shimmer has some kind of connection with the Void, whether Singed realizes or not. The hexcore looks like it's turning into some kind of Void thing, which only started to happen once it got a taste of Viktor's Shimmer-spiked blood.

      More than that.
      Ok initial primer into Runeterra magic... most of the magic comes to start from the Stars. Ie Celestial magic. This is the most basic kind of magic literally put there by the Celestial beings when they Ripped Mount Targon from the ground to create a connection point between them an the mortals of Runeterra. (The reason for this likely being that they have been priming the mortals of Runeterra as weapons against the void)
      The hex cores seem to be pure versions of that kind of magic compressed into mineral forms. (You see this in the effects when harnessed, star patterns, gravitational effects, and Spacial Warping.)
      One of the major things about Celestial magic is that a person can become utterly infused with it to become a Demi-god Super Soldier.
      Now the next kind of magic you generally find is Void magic. Void magic comes from the beings of the void beyond the universe... cracks of the void peeking into Runeterra irritate and upset the unbeings which reside in the void who want to break the world to get some peace and go back to their eternal slumber.
      Void magic is Corruptive, Adaptive, and mutative. Shimmer not only has all the traits of void touched magic... but it's also got the void's purple colour. Thus I expect that it is void magic based. Void corruption often takes the form of creatures in an environment becoming more powerful, more aggressive, and hardier... Void energy leaks out and make everything around it more hostile from smaller fissures. Bigger fissures will see beings crafted from the void itself come through as advance soldiers to hurt the world as much as they can, devour, evolve, and figure out more efficient ways to END everything.
      Now the next stage is BLOOD magic. Which is the magic of the Void and the magic of the Stars mixed together in an organic vessal. Think of it as the corruption of Celestial magic.
      ... Viktor's Hexcore pulling on his blood doesn't seem to have been an accidental thing, but instead a hint that it was basically infected with blood magic. And that the combination of using Shimmer (Void) and Hextech (celestial) has given him a path forward.

    Originally Hex Crystals were the shattered souls of the Brekkern, but since they updated Skarner lore, it seems that will no longer be the case. So this is another reason Hex-tech might now be related to world runes.
    Other possibilities are: its related to Void magic, celestial magic or the spiritual realm. Although I dont think these are as likely.
    Since Simmer def appears to be void related, I mean its purple and it mutates stuff! And we know Victor used shimmer, maybe its a void corrupted world rune now?

  • @stefanpestritu2308
    @stefanpestritu2308 2 ปีที่แล้ว +46

    Fun fact: Arcane magic that is in hextech critals consumes from the memories/souls of a long forgoten species called brekern of which skarner is. This species uses the cristals to pass down the colective knowledge of all the brekerns that used that specific cristal before and when you hear a melody from the cristals that represents their screams of agony, because thier very memories/souls are being consumed when the cristals consumes magic.

    • @owo9059
      @owo9059 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That's actually not true - melody from crystals is Brackern's anthem that is being passed down by generations and that for now only Seraphine has heard. We do not know if memories or souls of Brackern's are being consumed or if they even feel pain.

    I see so many people talking about how Sky's involvement wasn't properly set up but I think it's perfect how it's all about the symbolism and the desperation of "what could have been." We don't get to see any more of her than Viktor pays attention to her.

    (possible spoilers for season 2 cause of the stuff thats already known in game) for me, ive always thought it was similar to the game as we pick a combination of runes to invoke certain abilities. So through out the series we see transportation, but in ep3 we see a hint at time rewinding with the glass shards, hinting at ekkos time rewinding ability. So they can definetly invoke different abilities with different combinations of runes, this is why i think in ep 3 jayce was dialing each rune like a combination. Same with viktors hexcore, its like a rubics cube, he tried every combination in a specific way and then finalized it to see if it worked. So i do think youre right about the inspiration rune missing coming from sky.
    then again, thats just a theory... A GAA, no seriously its just a theory. pls be nice :)

    It would be awesome if Viktor makes a second Hexcore with Sky’s notes, and maybe because of some of his own innate magic triggered by the shimmer, the colour of the magic ends up orange (matching his in game colour scheme).

    I don't think the hex crystal magic was changing color. Shimmer seems implied to just be combustible, hence why it's used as a fuel (and seems to be an implied component in the rounds for Jinx's gun given her shots are frequently purple). To me it just seemed like sparks from the crystal explosion ignited the fungal-like Shimmer growth left on the ground and the fireball in the lab was just all that processed liquid shimmer going up like a gas explosion.

    Mm, knowing the lore, I want to clarify some things.
    First, void isn't exactly magic, more exactly, is Anti-magic, it destroys everything it touches and corrupt them, so IMO, I don't think that shimmer is void, and more just a product of magic with some kind of chemistry combine (after all, it seem that to produce shimmer you need biological producer)
    Also, the reason (at least I believe it is) that the hexcore is purple is because the magic of the hex gem is blue, and blood is red, so, red plus blue makes purple, also, one item of viktor (is gimmick in game) is the hexcore, in its first form is purple and it's also called "prototype hexcore", meaning, if it's close to the Viktor in game, he will found a way to refine it.

    • @juandiegomartinezcharry7441
      @juandiegomartinezcharry7441 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, another reason I think that the hexcore cannot be void, it's because, well, nothing really connected to the void affect it, the blood is the only thing that is turning it purple

    the core actually try turns itself after recieving Viktor's blood like it's learning its new body, like those AI experiement on tentacles legs, before Viktor use the hand thing to turn the runic symbols and it's more stable, it only create small explosion , I think it's when Viktor hit the wrong combination.... after it vaperized Sky and became a living thing, it actually took a while to responded to Viktor's chair move with a shock, implying it's still learning....

  • @757reaper
    @757reaper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    ...What? Okay. Hold On. Couple of things. I understand your theory on the Hex-crystals, but both the Atlas Gauntlets and Fishbones ignored that rule. The Crystals ARE unstable because they break not because they're pressurized, which results in a shockwave force strong enough to cause disintegration (which makes no sense because everyone one the bridge except Deckard should've also been disintegrated but whatever). My main issue comes with the claim that "Science and Magic follows the same set of rules," but there's been no insinuation of that, since "science" we've witnessed was mechanical activation of runic magical energy. Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering are vastly different processes.
    Another is the assumption that Shimmer ensured Viktor's survivability. In the show it's a precaution not a certainty, but based on what we know about shimmer previously, it can both heal and increase durable. The concern was the evolutionary procedure that would take place would be more than his body can handle, because the plants couldn't handle it, what wasn't discussed, and only touched on by Heimerdinger, was that the Hexcore had already changed Viktor, and he did not turn to dust (approaching it when he returned to the lab was how he realized it responds to organic matter). Him needing the shimmer is presumption, but we don't know if he did, what we do know is it was taken to mitigate the risk of him dying. Additionally the second time he used it, he did it shimmerless and a change still occurred; cautiously, whether it was an exchange for Skye is up for interpretation, but I would disagree because it tried to change Skye as well, and she withered like the plants did.
    I have theories on what happened to change the Hexcore, but all of those would include knowledge from the game's lore so I won't touch as it could be spoilerish (although ppl are pointing it out below, but there's details surrounding it that supports the possibly that no one has touched). Last few Things, the inspiration is probably not a "rune" more than a game specific as in fitting the category more than being one. Inspiration isn't like the others, where the other's focus on boistering abilities and self-improvement, while inspiration is thematically intellectual advantage via tool usage which is probably why the symbol is a magical device (although I'll admit Precision is Ironic). Second: It wasn't the mixture of magic that *ahem* singed Singed, but the ignition of the residue already on the ground. We know Shimmer is ignitable, we watch it occur again in episode 4.

    • @ajiththomas2465
      @ajiththomas2465 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're mistaking the Crystal's for the Gemstones. The Atlas Gauntlets and Fishbones and the Hexcore are powered by the Hextech Gemstones, which are more refined, fortified, and stabilized versions of the Hextech Crystals. Whereas the Hextech Crystal's were crude and could be liable to explode if faced with enough pressure, the Hextech Gemstones were made to address those stability issues and are much more efficient and flexible in usage overall.
      The disintegration part is only shown with the Hexcore, which is a Hextech Gemstone with a Runic Matrix, and the Hexcore had already absorbed a bit of Viktor's blood beforehand, so when Sky got disintegrated, it was more for reasons than "Hextech Gemstones disintegrate people". Do you get what I mean?
