Hey Jonathan, I hope you are doing well. It is possible to have your music on apple music or other platforms? By the way, I'm really enjoying your playing, thank you!
This is sweet. For those of you who don't know, that clarinet is playing a variation of one of the rhythms in the Essential Elements for Jazz book. If you're new to jazz, get that book, it's great. I just love how the melody is still there, but not the same.
I can't begin to explain how much I love this- a clarinet player not trying to blow out eardrums with the extremely high notes. I play so I know those high notes aren't really talent, but people for whatever reason are impressed by them. You are so much better!
I thought they played the high notes because it's one way to stand out when soloing, the clarinet isn't known to be the loudest instrument especially when surounded by tenors and trumpets.
Only problem is when playing with other naturally loud instruments like trumpet or trombone, in which case it's usually the only time you can stand out
That’s great! An amazing instrument. A million years ago I used to take flute lessons from a guy who played clarinet. He lived in an apartment and couldn’t really let loose there. He’d come over to my place and give me a lesson and then blow some clarinet. I used to be amazed at how loud it could get. It sounded beautiful. Good luck to you on your journey to learn it. It should be amazing.
Loving the comping skills of the guitarist and that soloist is just playing with his chord changes like nobody's business The drummer's precision and understated groove is ace as well.
Y’all killed it. That was amazing and I love the fact that there is a clarinetist here on TH-cam with some actual talent. I feel like it’s always kids trying to play pop songs when it comes to clarinet and they are great at it but they sound like they are in your average middle school band(not exactly the best sound you can get out of a clarinet) I have upgraded my clarinet since middle school however I did so because I could afford it and I wanted a wooden one. Once I got it I decided that I would actually take the clarinet seriously and so I looked into studies and what not and discovered that overtones are the way to go. If you can hit the overtones whenever you want, then your sound will be immensely better than that of a middle school band kid.
Wow , that was amazing! I just started clarinet and your vid sure gave me a boost! :) Please tell me that I can get the book, cds or notes so I can learn to play like you do! Thanks :)
Beautiful and tasteful. I was gifted a F.U. Uebel grenadilla german fingering clarinet and would love to play. It is supposed to be a little harder to play than the boehms system but that’s what i have… what do you think of this clarinet?
this is awesome thanks for such great music. I'm thinking on learning clarinet mainly to play jazz, do you recomend to start with an Eb Clarinet ? thanks
Great melodic and pretty performance from you both which I enjoy immensely as a guitarist who loves Jazz standards and your emotive playing is wonderfully intriguing!
@sydmccreath4554 you have probably more experience in clarinet & listening to different clarinet player/sounds. Maybe that’s why it didn’t sound unique to you. It was a personal opinion anyway. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Cheers
This is fine .... I am 78 and my favorite jazz clarinet was legendary Johnny Dodds. Oh what a feeling HE could get out of his clarinet. I have always loved the lower tunes on my clarinet. Once I could play petit fleur ... and even wild cat blues ... but I think - at least I should - rehearse and rehearse to keep it up. Sorry I did not do that, but I still have my instrument and sometimes I get joy by my self playing a little bit now and then. And I am still crazy with saxophones chorus when they are swinging. That is from swinging jazzbands up to Fats Domino and other bands like that. Good music thougths to all of you.❤
Hey everybody, thank you so much for watching - please check out my full length album if you enjoyed jonhunt1.bandcamp.com

Me too! I agree. Been getting into using the lower register more. After hearing this I'm definitely going to use it more.

I don't know any of these two guys, but their music makes me happy.
So relaxed, so easy, so much pleasure ... Thank you!
I played Clarinet in middle school. I quit because my band director wouldn't let me be in Jazz band. He said Clarinet wasn't Jazz.
@andrew I agree. I let that man defeat me. I wish I continued on that path.

Awesome! How can I get the note of this song? I really want to try it with my clarinet :)
Get the Essential Elements for Jazz book, that's where this melody came from, just variated a lot.
Yo, time to learn the clarinet i think. Thank you !
