14 likes? That's criminal!! This is a terrific lesson. I STARTED the clarinet because I wanted to recreate the haunting music I heard in season 7 episode 5 of Mad Men, it was Petite Fleur. And your short lesson shows how to make it sound magical. Thank you so much!!
I discovered a new passion for the clarinet and the saxophone, I am watching my very first learning videos on TH-cam. There was this tune that I played with my mouth like a trumpet very regularly and of which I did not know the title. It's all there, thank you very much. A french guy.
I am so glad to have found your channel. I recently purchased a soprano saxophone and am learning Bechet's style for songs. I've played Alto for Many years and was looking for a new challenge. In just a few minutes, you have helped me more than hours on other sax sites. I look forward to mining all of your techniques in order to become a better player. I believe the soprano sax and clarinet to be quite similar in style ( if only my soprano players felt that too). I wish I had the clarinet range on the sax though.
Thank you.. I’m glad it had helped! And you are correct- these stylistic techniques are compatible with soprano as well. As you know, Bechet was a master of both instruments. I love Bechet’s soprano playing as well..
Fun instruction. I like the thoughts about the “pop” and the demonstration of these four bars was supreme. I am focusing on clarinet after playing different types of higher saxophones. Love the versatility and depth of the clarinet. A heartfelt thanks for the excellent instruction and playing. Subscribed.
You rock! They say clarinets aren’t jazzy, but I’m determined to prove them otherwise!!
No they don't!
clarinet are actually a jazz instrument like saxs

I started on clarinet then went to sax. But now I want to go back and 3:35 play jazz clarinet in a Dixieland band.
Though I play soprano sax your advices are very useful for me. Thank you! Cheers from Berlin

I love the sound of your clarinet. What is it and what reed type/number??
I play the flute ... Hehe 😋 sorry but your lessons are so good
My late friend Bob Wilbur had this stuff nailed
Will this work on soprano sax as well?
Most definitely! Sidney Bechet was also a soprano saxophone master. These principles are the same for both instruments. Enjoy!
Wow.
Здорово похоже также я рекомендую играть моим ученикам народну музыку Klezmer Musik
How does this guys do that with clarinet of his.
Ngl that final part where you played the 2 versions, i liked the classical straight way better
Bechet played on an Albert system clarinet, I think.
