Muzzle Conditioning Part 1

  • If your dog lunges or growls at people or other dogs, it is important to muzzle them to keep all parties safe, but muzzles can add stress to already stressed dogs, so it is important to introduce the muzzle properly. When done correctly, the dog will enjoy wearing the muzzle and not feel additional stress. In this video, Steph shows the "part 1" steps of muzzle conditioning with a highly fearful dog.
The muzzles we recommend can be found here: smile.amazon.com/Baskerville-...

    Good afternoon,
I am the founder of Muzzled Misfits, a muzzle advocacy page. Our goal is to shine a positive light on muzzles, the dogs who wear them and owners who choose to use them regardless of why.
We currently share positive stories, success stories, and educational information regarding muzzles. Eventually we hope to have meet ups for muzzled dogs and their owners in the farm of structured walks and supervised socials (for those who are safe to do so), as well as help educate Veterinary and shelter/Rescue staff on proper muzzle sizing, training and uses.
We are trying to get more input from Pet Professionals such as Dog Trainers, Veterinary Staff, and so forth. I know you are very busy, but I would absolutely love if you could share your thoughts on muzzles, muzzle training and any other information to be featured on our page!
    Thank you so much!

I am muzzle training now. I do have one question. In my mind when I see a dog with a muzzle on in public I vie that dog as dangerous. I don't see this as a positive thing espcially in my condo community when the people here are already afraid of my reactive rescue... Am I the only person who view the muzzle in this light?

There are many reasons for a dog to wear a muzzle. Some dogs eat rocks, some eat garbage, fish at the river or beach, chew on themselves, or bite’s.
