  • If your dog lunges or growls at people or other dogs, it is important to muzzle them to keep all parties safe, but muzzles can add stress to already stressed dogs, so it is important to introduce the muzzle properly. When done correctly, the dog will enjoy wearing the muzzle and not feel additional stress. In this video, Steph shows the "part 2" steps of muzzle conditioning with an aggressive dog.
The muzzles we recommend can be found here: smile.amazon.com/Baskerville-...

Very helpful, thank you. I have been in process of doing this on my own. I do have one question. In my mind when I see a dog with a muzzle on in public, I view that dog as dangerous. I don't see this as a positive thing especially in my condo community when the people here are already afraid of my reactive rescue... Am I the only person who views the muzzle in this light?

My dog HATES the muzzle. As soon as he sees it he shoves his head into the ground and won’t look up. I know he had one on at the shelter we got him from but the whole time he was trying to rip it off. I don’t know how to help him because he just completely shuts down when he sees it, and food doesn’t help.

use high value (steak, liver) and put it on the ground near the muzzle, don't ask for your dog to touch it. Let your dog it his food when the muzzle is near by, soon it will become a normal thing and then you should take extra time into muzzle training
