Trudeau shares 2023 Christmas message: “Find strength in our differences”

- Addressing Canadians in his annual Christmas message, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that it was a time to gather with friends and family, share memories with loved ones and to give thanks.
“The holiday season is an opportunity for us all to bring comfort, joy and light to those who need it most. So let's love our neighbors as we love ourselves and find strength in our differences,” Trudeau said. “That's not just the true spirit of Christmas. It's also the true spirit of Canada.”
“Merry Christmas. Let's carry the spirit of the holidays into the New Year, and let's find new ways to make our communities, our country and our world a brighter place for everyone in 2024,” he ended.

Im not usually one to write comments, but I am compelled on this one: this message is kind and sounds sincere - but thats not what Trudeau or his party are doing on the day-to-day. I've never felt such animosity from a political party towards my values and liberties as what they are doing. I dont harbour ill-wishes towards anyone, but I do hope that this liberal parties legacy will be remembered for its deviseness and will be lesson for generations to come.

I would take issue with the assertion that paying $3000.00+ per month rent for an 1 bdrm. apartment, and instituting hardline climate policy at a time when basic food, and essentials are now out of reach for many once prosperous, and (those just starting) out Canadians... but then he does go out of the way to blame the war in Ukraine, and the pandemic for our current situation.
Meanwhile, the State's fuel, food, and shelter costs have only dropped, and European countries are acknowledging, retooling and in some cases, dropping many of the policies initiated before, and during the pandemic as a means to improve the lives of their citizens.
No such luck here.
Just ignore, divide, and continue on as if it's everyone else's fault without one reflection that just maybe their policies, excessive spending (and printing of money) as well as unyielding overreach have a negative impact on the lives of Canadians.
Again, I agree with you that we are luckier than some places in the world, but many Canadians, both existing, new, as well as recent arrivals are not experiencing the promise and prosperity, and overall, politically centrist country we once knew, or that others chose Canada for.

He does not see the problem of Canadian workers who can barely pay their rent, (or renew their mortgage), buy their groceries, and find a family doctor, even when they are working full-time, (or struggling with two jobs to earn a living). He does not even think about the fact that workers whose retirement income depends entirely on OAS and CPP may be remain in poverty for the rest of their lives. He welcomes refugees to Canada, then abandons them to live in shelters and to rely on foodbanks. Global News, no thanks for this message!
