I lost my father a bit after the passing of Prince Philip. This Christmas has been particularly difficult. I am not the crying type but I did well up whilst listening to the Queen's speech. I’ve been watching the past few years myself. My dad died back in September, and Christmas was his favorite Holiday as well. I dreaded coming down the stairs this morning to presents and mama, but not my dad. It’s so strange… Her Majesty really nailed it this year.

It has been said that great things come in small packages. Your Queen Elizabeth II might be small but she is not a person that takes things lightly and she has so many persons backing her. She is strong for her people but I would want someone who could stay up and listen to her I have also lost a spouse 15 years ago, it always was troubling then and sometimes now I still fall apart and I was not married 70 years. Right now she is wearing being a leader of her nations. Queen Elizabeth II has the weight of her nations and the Commonwealth. You also have a group you do not wish on anybody, we are called widows. This actually made my cry. How impressive is it to give a speech about a passing partner live on tv without breaking down. The pain she must have been feeling during that whole 9 minutes, but she kept her cool just to please us. Absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t even watch the first 60 seconds without tearing up. To have had someone in her life for that long and that constant, really does make me envious.
I'm very glad I listened to this queen speech this year. I had dreaded Christmas coming because I lost my husband in October. But she reminded me of something which made my day easier, my husband would make anybody laugh he would not quit until you did. Watching this the day after the Queen died I realise we were so lucky to have lived during the reign of Elizabeth II. A chapter of our life has ended and another is beginning. Life goes on but memories will last forever and every time we think of the Queen we are going to feel pride, probably smile and remember all the positive values that she lived by. If you go back to speeches at the beginning of her reign you will see that she has her written speech before her on her desk, and refers to it. Although no one would have expected anything else the quiet dignity with which her majesty delivered her annual speech to the nation was mesmerising, poignant & heartfelt. Her enduring love & respect for her late husband , her "beloved Phillip" shone as brightly as the light's on the tree, her heartbreak was palpable & the speech was all the better for it. I'm sure there will be those who will read more into it but for me it was simply our Queen sharing her grief & at the same time encouraging, supporting & thanking others. It is sad to see some of the twinkle gone out of the queen's eyes. You can tell through the speech that she is still grieving painfully and very strongly and dutifully held back tears.
What a wonderful Christmas message. You just can't help being moved every year when the Queen speaks at Christmas. Next year I pray we can all resume our gracious at Christmas without the worry of the past few years.
This woman, our Queen, shows more leadership in her little finger than most of the "leaders" on the world circuit. Even in her twilight years and family dramas she remains dignified. As an American, queen Elizabeth is not my leader but she is perhaps one the finest example of a female ruler ever known. I was so sorry for her when her beloved Philip died, even though he wasn’t king he was her rock. To be married for over seventy years means they managed to get through the ups and downs of life and keep the business going. God bless her and family.

This actually made my cry. How impressive is it to give a speech about a passing partner live on tv without breaking down. The pain she must have been feeling during that whole 9 minutes, but she kept her cool just to please us. Absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t even watch the first 60 seconds without tearing up. To have had someone in her life for that long and that constant, really does make me envious.
I'm very glad I listened to this queen speech this year. I had dreaded Christmas coming because I lost my husband in October. But she reminded me of something which made my day easier, my husband would make anybody laugh he would not quit until you did. Watching this the day after the Queen died I realise we were so lucky to have lived during the reign of Elizabeth II. A chapter of our life has ended and another is beginning. Although no one would have expected anything else the quiet dignity with which her majesty delivered her annual speech to the nation was mesmerising, poignant & heartfelt.
Her enduring love & respect for her late husband , her "beloved Phillip" shone as brightly as the light's on the tree, her heartbreak was palpable & the speech was all the better for it.
I'm sure there will be those who will read more into it but for me it was simply our Queen sharing her grief & at the same time encouraging, supporting & thanking others.

As an American, I respect Her Majesty immensely. She has seen it all, lived through it all and is still sitting here to tell the tale. I wish her continued health and happiness and a hearty congratulations on 70 years of her reign. God save The Queen.

It is obvious that the business interests have become so greedy that they would interrupt our sovereign Queen's Christmas message. We find that behavior rude and extremely offensive. The Queen's speech was heartwarming and projected a spirit of positivity in these troubled times. We always look forward to our sovereign's Christmas message every year.

Lots of people make heartwarming speeches this time of year. "Our sovereign Queen." Think about it. Why don't the British people step into the 21st Century and shed a construct that costs them money but returns nothing but someone playing the role of the national granny?

But I agree, there shouldn't have been an ad on this one! As far as the carol being muted, I think you are probably right. But the full unedited version is still available on the BBC version.
