JBL is stepping up in the speakers designs

Hi there, I'll be grateful if you can help me understand the dispersion pattern of the centre speaker please. It being a 2.5 way design, wouldn't one experience null spots at certain angles from the listening position?
How does this compare to a 3-way centre speaker, e.g. SVS Ultra centre speaker or Bowers and Wilkins HTM2 or HTM72 🤔 ❓️
    Which is better?
    Thank you.

Something like a HTM71 S3 would certainly best it but it is more expensive. 2.5 ways can be just fine. Avoid the SVS, QC isn't there.

@Gramophone .Thanks for the help and advise. Much appreciated.
      3-way it is, then.

If I wanted an Atmos set up, does JBL make matching ceiling speakers in the HDI line? If not, what do you think would work best for ceiling speakers?

Yes, it's all part of their Synthesis line.

An excellent series of speakers. The cousins to these are the Revel Performa f208/206 and the Revels are better for music 🎶 in my opinion but because of the horns, the JBLs are better for movies 🍿

The compression driver horns make action movies sound like they are actually happening in the room!

Any thoughts on comparisons of the 3800 to the Klipsch RF7iii? I haven't heard either in person. I did have the original RF7i's for 13 years - totally badass speakers, but horribly bright. My understanding is that the newer RF7iii's have cured that brightness. But I'm very intrigued by the JBL 3800's, they look very impressive too.

I’ll let you know in about a week if I remember. I’m getting a pair of the JBL’s this week and currently own the RF-7 III’s.

Thanks to the power of these comments I’m returning to give the verdict. Lol.
RF-7 III’s every day and twice on Sunday. Here’s a few things I noticed:
1/ Right off the bat, the walnut finish on the JBL’a was really, REALLY cheap and Ugly compared to the walnut on the Klipsches, If that’s your thing.
2/ The JBL’s were much more neutral than the RF-7 III’s, but to the point of not sounding very detailed at times.
3/ The midrange and low end on the JBL’s was muddy.
Simply put, the JBL’s felt like a knockoff of the RF-7 III’s. They went back after a week, but I still have my RF-7 III’s and Forte III’s and love them both for different reasons. Forte III is still my
      Favorite though.

Is the speaker featured in this video the grey or the walnut?
