  • Harman unleashed a fury of new products at CEDIA 2019. Most notably were the expansion of the Revel Beryllium series and the new HDI series from JBL. The four full-range models of the HDI Series are based upon JBL’s patented 2410H-2 compression driver, benefiting from advanced research and applications from JBL Professional’s D2 range of transducers. Revel's extended their Performa Beryllium series with 3 new models, including a flaghship tower, the F328Be with triple 8" bass drivers, and a newly developed 1" Beryllium tweeter and waveguide system. Watch our interview with Jim Garrett to learn more about these exciting new products from JBL and Revel.

If you are more of a subtle nuance, fine detail listener there are more suitable speakers out there.

I got three perfect shape RBH C-770 mtm's for a front wall of sound for $300 from an angry, recently divorced lady off of Craigslist...because that's how I roll. She even threw in a 12" Velodyne sub...she had no idea how much those speakers were worth and I still smile everytime I look at them/hear them.
I am not sure how I would feel about speakers that cost even 5k, let alone 16k... no matter how they sounded.
The most I ever spent on speakers were some demo models of some nice MB Quart Q1002 Towers back in 1993 or so. Got em for 1k apiece from speakerlab in seattle and they still sound great.
You do get what you pay for in speakers but you CAN get them for a much better deal that will make them happy speakers for many years to come.
I really love the look of these speakers and really want to hear them but as soon as you start talking about how much they cost I know for sure I am not getting them unless some rich guy upgrades to something even more fancy and just wants to get rid of them for cheap.

Remember when Titanium was the buzz? Remember when diamond (carbon crystal) tweeters were the rage? Yeah, diamond sucked. In every application. Now BE "light and rigid" is the buzz, even though Yamaha did it in the 80's and it was like the diamond: a gimmick with no guarantee of superior sound.
magnets and drive motors (not to mention amps) are so powerful now, there is no need at all for expensive and exotic alloy drivers for the sake of light weight. It's possible to make good-sounding drivers made of thin steel. Well hey, at least BE is not resonant like titanium and aluminum.
JBL has a history of obfuscating horns. It's just a horn.
HDI "Horn drive interface" to be honest.
Much like the old "Oblate " tweeter horn.
BTW: a great threeway speaker > 2 way. Period. A 2-way is just cheaper to make, with less engineering.
"Marketing is lies and deceit formulated to sell junk to fools."

I can't justify the expense when the sum of the parts don't add up to the askimg price. I can't even begin to think about any of the revel line-up, nor would I. There are too many options that I can live with that cost far less. Plus speaker technology hasn't changed much, so updating vintage speakers can be much more worthwhile.
