Fallout absolutely blew me away (no pun intended). A top-tier adaptation of a beloved franchise. completely did it justice.
Good call. The show is wildly popular right now. While a few people don't like it (and have a right to that opinion), I spend all day reading comments from people who played Fallout and completely adore the TV show. And it's *also* wildly popular with people who *never* played Fallout. I have friends who "tried" the first episode and ended up binging the entire series the same weekend. I personally lost sleep over the show.
I was so glad to hear that the actor who played "Lucy", *played the game* before she acted a single game. She's also up to date on the lore. The actor who played Maximus apparently binged youtube Fallout videos for a couple weeks instead. Only Goggins didn't prepare for the role but he's an amazing actor.
The weakest part for many is Maximus, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on why. Anton Motin is animated and lively in interviews so the behavior of Maximus was one of a writing choice, a directing choice, or an acting choice. One thing is clear tho.... he's portraying a character indoctrinated and isolated from the age of 8. Some of the things people complain about the most, I've *seen* in young religious people. They have an extended childhood and are often really ignorant about sex. However, I think the writing about his explosion was bad-- too blunt-- a real person like that usually is more vague. These are the type of people who get pregnant or get someone pregnant because they don't know what sex is.
My only personal comment is that I think the mother should have been the villain while Kyle was the hero. Her figuring everything out, leaving with the kids, and getting in a quasi lesbian relationship, and Kyle's portrayal seemed like DEI writing. And I've developed a strong association between DEI writing and poor plotting/writing/bossgirl characters.
On the other hand, I thought Dane was a good solid character. I'm glad we've reached a point where a trans character (possibly a mutant) can have character flaws instead of always being perfect which is a form of bigotry itself.
We are go for a second season. I'm looking forward to it.
While a few people don't like it (and have a right to that opinion) I call them out as OCD people and I may sday that because I hacve the official diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD. So I am not a "Normy" F those OCD nit picking people.
the best episodes of Bob's Burgers or South Park even have 3 storylines minimum. Actually my favorite episode of Bob's Burgers is the Valentines Day episode where basically everyone has their own. Gene with dark chocolate and the substitute lunch lady, Louise kissing Rudy, Tina chili poops to sky kiss, Bob, learning to dance with Teddy for Linda, and Linda helping Miss Selbo get over / stop stalker her ex...oh and speedy guy and a mermaid on. a unicycle. You need multiple stories like averagely attractive girls need large friend groups to make them look better

I really enjoyed the Fallout series, with interesting characters. I have never played the game, so the reveals were very interesting as the story progressed. Well-developed plotting and well-written characters with emotional content.

Maximus was beyond boring... I was looking forward to his death by a thousand deathclaws!
As a big Fallout fan, I think it was 5/10 (would be higher if not for Maximus Noobus). My non-fan partner, gave it 2/10, sorry.
More like: How NOT To! They all had ZERO emotional weight. And there was ZERO connection between them. No true love. No real friendship. Nothing they did had real consequences. Now compare all this with The Last Kingdom's great story and wonderful characters, and everything I said will become painfully obvious!
The story and its characters were not well written. Maximus is as interesting as wet paper and Lucy's scenes feel like disconnected skits. And the Ghoul had unexplained teleporting powers to have him magically show up everywhere convient.

@@_Thorwaldur_ moldiver, the friend to Lucy's mother, in her genius plans to break into 33, allows raiders to try to murder Lucy who she knew as a child, and then when presented a chance to take her to the surface and see the truth of everything, has her dad gamble her life to keep her in vault life. While lastly saying "you should see the surface sometime".

this show is poorly written and doesnt follow canon at all, the first episode is completely contrived and doesnt make any sense. if you like this show my hats off to you but you are a tourist letting corporations ruin beloved IPs
Well conflict with CNR and BoS isn't new and Vaultec being evil isn't new either. Then causing the Great War was new. Not unbelievable I guess. Jet being needed for ghouls is weird...
Wrong wrong wrong and wrong again. Just no. They did everything justice and everything was very good. Maybe a few janky cgi moments. And I'm a OG fallout fan. They did it well , very well.
100% agree with you. The show's story and logic is nonsense like a really bad handholding to disconnected skits. How people are saying "this is the best" have to be delusional. Visually the show was awesome but that's it.
