    Thank you. My nephew said a foot pedaler was helpful for him after TKR so I ordered one and it should arrive today. I appreciate hearing your professional opinion on this.
    I am hoping it will help with my physical therapy also 🙏

    Hello, My husband is having a TKR and I am wondering if this would be as beneficial as a recumbent bike with his other rehab. Thank you! 😊

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists

      Hello, the recumbent bike does offer some greater benefits including being able to adjust the seat position to increase or decrease knee bend, easier to add/subtract resistance, and a very supportive seat. However, the pedal exerciser does offer a good low cost alternative in my opinion with many of the same benefits! Thanks for the question!

    I've been using the recumbent bike at the gym a few months after my first TKR, but I'm going to the this Vaunn so I can use it during my rehab for the 2nd TKR. Thanks for the good tip about putting your heels on the pedals to get the most extension and flexion.

    Is using the Cubi peddler the same. I am about 5’11” and it does seem to provide the type of bend that I need.

      Thanks for watching! Yes, in general I would say the same guidelines and recommendations apply for the Cubi Peddler machines.

    Thinking of an exerciser as you show in the video and was wondering how sturdy it is (wobbling, shaking, unstable). Thanks for any info.

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The cheaper versions can definitely be more unstable. The main thing is just finding a good setup in terms of chair height, distance between chair and peddler, and having a sturdy chair, possibly up against a wall for stability.

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  ปีที่แล้ว

      Without knowing your personal history and physical status, having MS should not keep you from using the pedal exerciser and likely would be a beneficial option for you to try.

      Unless your doctor recommends otherwise, this can be used within a day or two after knee replacement surgery for most individuals.

    Can a patient with knee replacement surgery use this? does this help improving walking form?

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, a knee replacement patient can definitely use one of these. It can help with joint range of motion and muscle endurance which in turn can help improve walking form.

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These two options offer very similar benefits. A stationary bike is a great option, most people prefer a recumbent bike with a back rest and you are in a seated position. The pedal exerciser is a little more economical and affordable option for some.

  • @stt3z

    Is this only for knees , does it do anything for calves ?

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not specific to the knees. The calf musculature is working in some respect, but it mainly should be thought of as either a tool for mobility and range of motion or a light form of aerobic endurance exercise.

    How far should my chair be from the machine? My therapist pushes it right up to the machine that gives me very little room and causes me to lift my hip to complete a rotation . I had surgery on 11-11-22. Thanks

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no set point. If you have to hike your hip up to complete the rotation you may not have enough knee bend to have the machine that close and it may be appropriate to move it away from the chair some. Ideally, as your knee range of motion and symptoms improve you can move the device closer and work on bending the knee more as you pedal.

    Needs to be weighed down as moves about

    • @KneeReplacementTherapists
      @KneeReplacementTherapists  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right, this is one of the negatives about using this. Weighing it down can work. I typically like to push it snug up against a wall or piece of furniture as another option to keep it from moving around.
