    The oldest Mosque in Egypt is Amr Ibn Elaas Mosque in Al Fustat near the Hanging Church

      Oldest mosque in its original form, Amr Ibn Al Aas mosque was rebuilt over many times and it’s not at all in its original form.

      @@ibrahimmetwalli This distinction is much appreciated. I knew that Ibn Tulun's mosque was not the first built in Egypt, so I was confused by the clip's assertion that it was, but rather it is the oldest such building in the land to preserve its original design and construction.

    A very simple and serene mosque with a very long history. Been there a few times and hope to return to Cairo after the pandemic.

    Amr Ibn Al-As mosque is the oldest mosque of Egypt and all of Africa in fact. Great video!

      Yes, thank you for pointing this out. Though Ibn Tulun's mosque is ancient, it is not the oldest such building in Egypt.

      Actually the Sadat Quraish Mosque in Bilbeis is the oldest mosque in Egypt and the 4th oldest in Africa, built a year before Fustat. The 3 oldest mosques are (1) Al-Nejashi Mosque in Negash (Tigray), Ethiopia built in 613; (2) as-Sahaba Mosque, Massawa Island, Eritrea built circa 614; and (3) Masjid al-Qiblaṫayn in Zeila, Somalia built before 624. All three of these were built before 'Amr converted to Islam!

      Nice joke 😂He didn't build it by himself he hired Egyptian architects and craftsmans there was no turkey at that time 😂😂😂😂😉😂LOL. Egypt and iraq has civilization..theres no Turkish arts you stole Christian Byzantine style of churchs like aya sophia and called it ottoman style 😎😎

      @@KemetEG What's your problem? By Turkish, there is Ottoman, they come from the land that is now Turkey. Their civilization conquered ours. Also to correct BOTH OF YOU, Ibn Tulun was a Turkish/Ottoman governor, but his hometown was Samara, in Iraq. The Ottoman culture, art, and civilization STILL has a lot of influence on "Egyptian" civilization today. In fact, apart from Ancient Egyptians, who you are in no way related to, Egyptian culture and civilization MOSTLY comes from the Ottomans, the Romans, the British, and the French.

      @@aymanali7286 Modern Egyptians are related to ancient Egyptians ,, Egyptian islamic architecture is coptic ,,,, so stop your ignorance theres no Othman style its Byzantine chtistian style ,,coptic language still prove modern Egyptians are related to ancient Egyptians 100%

      @KemetEG ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@aymanali7286 Egyptian culture has nothing to do with ottomans ,, We still celebrate sham el neseem holiday like ancient Egyptians,, Egyptian arabic still has thousands of ancient Egyptian words and grammer structure , in upper Egypt we still wear same clothes like ancient Egyptians, our Egyptian national dish is from ancient Egypt foul ( fava beans ),, Egyptian belly dancing is from ancient Egyptians,, tahtib stick dancing from ancient Egyptians,, turkey and ottoman are influenced by Egyptian culture not the other way
